New content vs Vet rank removal

I am wondering how many players out there are frustrated with the fact that we keep getting promised the removal of Vet ranks and yet they keep pushing it off further and further. Who would rather see vet rank removal before any more content is released?

I won't say that they are delaying removing them but when it was announced it seemed like an end of 2015 thing so right now if they are gone by 2016, then they're on track.

As much as I want them removed (And I am confident they actually will be removed with Orsinnium), I imagine myself, it's a really tough situation for them to actually remove them seeing as all content past 50 relies on them. Just my opinion though.

I actually don't mind veteran ranks, and this is someone who has a vet14, a vet5, a vet 2, and 2 vet 1s. I wouldn't particularly miss them if they're removed, but I would be sorely disappointed if the removal was half-assed, like if they just cut out at level 50 with no other form of progression, or if the new system they replace it with is just a pain in the ass. The thing about veteran ranks is that they're tightly ingrained in post-50 content, part of difficulty, itemization, stat calculations, it won't be easy to come up with a system that will *** off the least amount of players.

I don't mind having Vet Ranks. I craft new items all the time and use different armor/weapon sets. I make them Legendary too.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

i was frustrated with that aspect of IC which is why i haven't bought it. from what i hear im not missing out. the rumor that they may push VR 18 is adding more insult to injury. if Orsinium is pushing VR to 18 with increased ridiculous grinds, i more than likely will avoid that as well.

For me, Vet Ranks are no more than a next level... What confuses me is that you have to be at Vet I to start earning Champion points.

Why not start earning them at level 10? with an ever increasing amount of Xp till the next Champion point allotted. That way people could actually " catch-up"

I think all they really have to do is just rename the levels to 50, 51, 52, etc. Then just come up with a good progression for the xp required. I think it's a bit like destiny where people can get frustrated and confused because they beat the game around lvl 50ish and suddenly get slammed with vet ranks and have to do it all over again twice. It's just not a good model to really keep players interested. I'd rather have new content at 50 and the option to do silver and gold. Maybe if they make a new map area for level 50 thru 55 to level through then make the current craglorn from 55 to 60 for lower and 60 to 65 for upper. All they would have to do would be to remove some mobs to make it solo friendly.

Ultimately it's an easy fix as far as ideas, I am starting to wonder why they don't just get the coders on it and fix it. I know there is work involved but they are making millions of dollars on this game every month, the least they could do is hire some new coders to get the job done faster.

I really don't think they will be removing them anytime soon. I get the feeling they are going to have trouble releasing content quarterly without a fairly major change in game mechanics.

id rather have re-playable content rather than the Gear Treadmill that VR levels represent. lets not forget, that is the MAIN reason the Vet Levels were going to be removed. it was also the MAIN reason the champion system was introduce, to replace the gear grind/treadmill. to continue character progress without having to constantly get that next piece of gear just to stay competitive in PVE/PVP (which is no different than gear progression since the champion system is 100% vertical progression just like gear!).

that was the initial plan, but it is clear to me that they have thrown that idea out the window. now we have both a HUGE gear treadmill with IC, AND champion points to deal with. as it stands, they have doubled the difficulty for character development and to remain competitive. who does this effect? mostly casual gamers probably. casual gamers are their cash cow, willing to pay money for "convenience" items in the store since they don't have the time to put in the hours like the hardcore crowd.

when you look back at everything and the direction they are moving and the choices they have made, it is clear to me they dont have a *** clue on what direction they want to take this game.

Well 400k xp on a character between 1 to 50 is around 15 levels. They would have to downscale the xp requirement per champion point at each individual level below 50

Correct, the exact numbers would have to be worked out.
It would have to be worked out so that i would not be feesable to farm the points with low level aults only.

The removal of vet ranks has not been talked about for a long time. Just play the game and don't worry about. No Matter what system is used, the consent gear grind is part of MMO's.

    You would think that hu?
I honestly do not understand half of the things they do these days.. I keep hoping for a better game, but things just go backwards with these patches.

I was excited when ESO TU was advertised.. I was optimistic and even got over the "Removal of Sub Fee", but I just do not understand why they would keep raising VR if they were going to then remove them later on.. It is like taking a step forward when you know you already promised you were taking a step BACK! I am confused lol

Also I have resigned myself that ZOS is just going to throttle down on this derailment of any form of balance this game could ever hope for by standing firm on this broken CP system. So many things have been thrown into this game without thinking "longterm" Who exactly thought that replacing the VR system with a CP system that would only separate the playerbase ever further/faster was a great idea?

At the end of the day ESO could be a great game. It is just being built as we go with no definite direction.

I mean we are told so many things and then told that they will be changing said things, but then told that those changing things will be removed....maybe..

Who is running this ship and what direction are the oarsmen rowing said ship ZOS? !?

    This a million times.

The casual gamers that still have a bit of a desire to be competitive are hurt the most from the inclusion of the gear grind, vet ranks, AND champion points.

The way I see the game going is a slow decline and death, unless they do something about the INSANE amount of time grinding needed just to be able to play a poorly balanced bit of PVP, or competitive PVE.

You can grind VR pretty quickly if you get ESO Plus, buy crown store xp scrolls, marry someone and group up and hit a grinding zone for hours doing laps and yelling at others who can't follow the most effective pattern.

    lmao!

The CP/VR system was all fine and dandy as long as the SUB FEE was going to pay the salaries a keep the servers running. Now that they had to scrap the Sub Fee model ZOS has basically walled themselves into one heck of a problem! This system might have worked for a Sub Fee game that catered to a select group of dedicated players, but when you start asking for BTP and even some -not all because I wanted Sub Fee for console- console players to be willing to stick around and get punished for not playing 18 hours a day then yes... Yes your game is going to derail itself from the mainstream players simply because they are not going to want to buy and join a game where they will never be able to play on a competitive playing field with their friends.

Things have to change we all know that.. But the question is does ZOS understand this? If they do they sure are not communicating this with the players at all. They seem to be releasing a vibe of. "This is how we are going to do it and you are going to like it or leave" problem is many players are doing just that and I HATE THAT!

A lot of this could be fixed if ZOS would at least talk to us about these issues on their own forums instead we are left to hop around the internet and hunt down scraps of information on obscure websites and reddit tid bits of information. The communication between developers and players here is horrible and it honestly isn't that hard to fix if they would put forth the effort.

Believe it or not most of us on these forums want a better game and even the negative post are mostly stemmed from frustration and not flat out troll post. I know I get out of hand at times, but I just wanted so much from ESO and to see it circling the drain hole like this makes me angry at times lol.

I haven't been here long but with the exception of server crashes, patch note questions and that seasonal cp post it looks like the only time developers chime in is to put the same pre-made script about trolling and to move things (and one spelling nitpick) but almost never seem to add to the conversation even if it is a simple question that they have the potential of answering at that time.

quote from @ZOS_GinaBruno We completely agree. Once the dust settles a bit from this change of direction, you should expect to see increased participation from the developers. They would love to chime into constructive threads and provide some feedback!
yet this does not seem to be the case according to what I see...

They've already said that Orsinium will add VR17 and VR18 to game play so I doubt they're planning on removing them with Orsinium.

The bigger problem is they've got so much baked into the game that depends on VR levels (like which mats you can use to construct/use armor/weapons/potions/food,etc.) that they're going to need some way to replace the VR ranks with tiers in the CP system or something. Then you'll be facing "Champion Tier 7" monsters or players instead of VR7 monsters or players. And instead of grinding VR levels you'll be grinding CP levels. Yeah, that'll be totally different.

There are a lot of valid points here. With new games coming out like fallout 4 and fallen king (which will fix a lot of problems that destiny has now, which are the same problems this game has). I think that starting next week the game is going to start dropping rapidly and Zos is going to have no choice but to lay more people off and start packing things up. I love this game but the grind is to long and the content is boring after I've done it 5 or 6 times now. It's the same reason I left world of warcraft. Trying to grind to 90 doing the same quests over and over is just not how I want to spend my time. Sure xp potions are a great idea but they are expensive to buy for real money and the in game recipe is a grind itself. Having to do writs every day then after you have it you have to grind out fishing in hopes of finding a rare material to make it only to sell it for 1/4 of its actual value. They should have just added the recipe in the store to buy and make it easier to get the mats. I feel punished not rewarded by trying to get this recipe just to level up my alts faster.

Getting abit off topic but if ya mean destinys the taken king then yeah it releases same day as IC on ps4. It looks great Bungie is really good at actually listening to its community and made some huge improvements based off feedback. If only Zos took a page out of their book.
