Ugh... why do we have to keep making this point. Arvak and Shadowmere are ONE-OF-A-KIND creatures. TES Doesn't have every Tom, Rick, and Harry riding around on these kinds of mounts.

Because its how magic works; because they could be one of a kind for no reason other than the other games were single-player and you didn't encounter other adventurers with the means to acquire rarer knowledge.
Because Zenimax isn't go to change it and these threads are useless and you all need to just relax and roll with it.
As long as they don't add Dwemer steam-powered motorcycles, anything they do with Horses, Guar and Senche is meaningless.
However, for me the Elder Scrolls game series has always been about being immersed in a deep universe and story, but these new cosmetics are going to prevent that.

Band Camp statements: To state "But this one time I saw X doing X... so that justifies X" Refers to the Band camp statement.

If these kinds of mounts were commonplace they would have been seen in the single player games. Sure there are special cases like Shadowmere... who really just had red eyes, not so special. These two mounts are very specific mounts, not a kind of mount "race'.
The reason I don't have a problem with Guars or Senche-tigers is because I've seen these creatures in ESO. I know them in the context of ESO. I do not know any of the fantasy mounts in the context of ESO, because they have none.

Keep in mind that this is a series with talking dogs, werepigs, giant robots, 4-armed undead, a race of cats that range from housecats to anthropomorphic to the size of elephants, a mad-god obsessed with cheese and cabbage, and another daedra/god who was literally crapped out by another daedra/god.
Has ZOS actually ever listened to community feedback on anything? Like ever? I really wanna know.

Shadowmere respawns in the black pool outside the sanctuary in Skyrim if it dies. "Just has red eyes"
Remember, its the adventurers running around with these mounts, not commoners. They aren't as common as you're making them out to be and they wouldn't have been common had they appeared in older games. But lets extrapolate based on what we know from older games.
There is no context for Calcinium, Galetite, Voidstone and all the other high level crafing materials; Ebony is the strongest material known to Tamriel
Enchanting has never required runes, just knowledge and Soul gems.
Dwemer metal has never grown in Veins, its an alloy that is only obtainable through smelting Dwemer artifacts already made from the metal.
Crafting styles and motifs have never existed before ESO and there were certainly never wedding dresses and suits resembling the ones in the store.
All of these things were changed for ESO.
In ESO when you see me running about, I am not the vestige to you, you are. And to me, I am the vestige and you are just another adventurer. You are not "special" you are just another citizen of There is no reason you should be on those mounts.
And crafting mats and runes are actually IN the game. I can see them there, they exist within the context of this Tamriel. Fire, ice, and lighting horses do not exist in the context of this Tamriel. They exist in the context of the Crown Store. That's it. I actually don't have as hard a time accepting the skeletal mounts because I've seen skeleton men/mer running about (when are you going to add the Argonian and Khajiit skeletons ZOS?!?!?!!) so reanimated skeletons of living creatures make sense contextually... but I'll admit I'm stretching a bit on that just to accept these mounts.
These fantasy horses are not in the game world. That's my issue. They're not in the game world. Put them in the game world and I'll be fine with them. Hell... I'll probably even buy a couple. But as of now, I consider them to be lore breaking because they are not in any ESO game I've played or lore I've read. They are simply Cash Shop vanity trinkets.

The cognitive dissonance is strong.

I don't see it being a lore breaking faux pas.
