Horrendously long load screens and disconnects?

I also have had no previous problems after a patch. My driver is updated, took all add-ons off (they aren't the problem). Not just the load screens, which by the way are horrible, but FPS fluctuates like never before, I was always a constant 60 not it changes on a dime from 60's to low teens.
Anyone else rooting for Molag Bal?

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom Drivers are up-to-date, addons disabled, Internet with 80-95mbps, took 9 minutes to just log in today after server time out 3 times. Get into game, load my first toon to do writs and emails, switch to next toon been waiting 6 minutes in load screen. I'm sorry this is not my computer, didn't have these problems before the Update/Patch and every day since then it's been getting worse.

Oh, and don't get me started on playing in IC, where the lag gets so bad at times I can barely move. In a large guild with several in the group and they all experience the same issues. Crash to desktop and by the time you can log in again, you are taken back to the previous city and have to set in queue for 15 minutes to get back into IC.

Hubby and I have been subscribers since July 4th, 2014 and starting to wonder if $30 a month to play a game you can't "play" is worth it anymore.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom I'm seeing lag all over the game. On a Mac, so no drivers to update. In particular, seeing it on load screens and when crafting for writs. When I craft an item for a writ, it takes a long time for it to display that the writ item is crafted (Crafted xxx 3/5) -- so long that I thought that display was removed in the latest patch!

Guys, you should know this by now - we all play on ancient machines with prehistoric drivers and we use add-ons. It is always our fault by using these archaic machines with 9kb dial ups and ZoS is never wrong.. Or at least it's what Customer Service makes it sound like.

I'm running this game ON WIN 8.1 with 2 GTX 970 cards, an i7-5930K, and 16GB RAM. I've allowed LUA up to 2GB memory.

That being said I've disconnected 6 times today and I've hung for up to 15 mins on some loading screens. I'm averaging about 7 mins just moving from one zone to another.

The stupid UI resets itself even after I've repeatedly moved it away from the 'this is for the legally blind' default.

    My FPS is a joke.
    • My drivers are all up to date.
    • Its' exactly the same with and without add-ons active/installed
    • I have no problems with any other game (GW2, CoD multiplayer, Anno 2070, CIV)

I've only been playing 6 weeks and this is very discouraging to any new players.

The Ic patch definitely screwed up something I personally didnt have any fps/lag issues except the loading screens but some of my guildies had and still have lot of connection problems even though they have good internet and high end rigs.

A guildie still has lot of 301 errors and drops from server followed by crashes while in loading screen also his internet connection is way better than mine.

Hopefully the next week patch will these issues because they can be really frustrating.

When I had my rig, 2600k clockeded to stable 4.7 and my GTX 690 clocked up lots, I could not play at all....crash, crash, crash....

I lowerd my cpu and didnot clock my gpu, reset the tbread optimization to one thread and tbat helped imensly.
But I still would crash after doing inventory management with all alts.

There is still memory leek issues evident.

Nothing wrong with my rig. I can play eso and coin mine at the same time. Its everything pushed out with the update. It was rushed. And it shows very bad if any QA/QC, a balance board that wasn't. And much more.Parts of the game that have been stable since 1.5 are now falling apart.

    Just the facts.

The worst for me is the Belkarth Outlaws Hideout, which used to load faster than running up to bank, now takes 2-5 minutes if it loads at all. Rest of the world hasn't been much worse, so maybe that's a place to test improvements?

Quest progress updates take forever as Srithla noted; did I make 2 Inferno staves or 3? Guess I'll know in 30-120 seconds, or I can quit crafting, check inventory, go back to crafting. Even worse when I'm doing kill counter quests. Some time after the bodies drop, I get a notification.

So tired of the issues always being on our side and never an issue with the updates. I loaded the 8/31 drivers and they are buggy but had them long enough to load ESO with the same results, endless loading screens and can't load into dungeons or wayshrines. I rolled back to 355.80 and have the same issues. I have tried drivers from 347.88 forward with the same issues!! I have tried two different video cards, GTX970 and my GTX 980 TI WITH THE SAME ISSUES! I have an 8 core CPU, 32 gigs of RAM on my nice new water cooled system. I did NOT have this issue before the IC update. I don't use addons, never have so that isn't an issue either. This is a new system with a fresh download of the game on an SSD drive.

The most annoying bugs at the mo are the loooong loading times and notification delays (as people keep saying).
Please bring back notification mail icon - I don't always hear that soft beep. Really annoying when waiting for hireling goodies. No notification at all.

It makes me wonder how all these bugs get past testing every time there's an update.

same issue. eso ran like a dream on this new rig, only a couple weeks old, BEFORE the update.

now it's a buggy, laggy, inconsistent mess.

and loadscreens? today i hit 'play' went and made coffee, brushed my teeth, fed and watered the animals, and checked my mail.

came back and my character still hadn't loaded, but it was only a minute or two more...

    wish i was kidding.

The worst seems to be Outlaws Refuges. I get a guaranteed 5-10 minute load screen any time I have the audacity to fence pillaged goods. Just had one so long it dropped me from the game after like 10 minutes.

For me the game seems to crash a lot more frequently after the patch, with or without addons, in crowded or secluded areas. I suspect a memory leak is to blame.

Why isn't the entire forum community in this thread saying it's affecting them also?

Is this only affecting a small portion of the community?

There has been a lot of complaining in the Known Issues thread. Unfortunately though lag/loading issues have not been listed as a known issues. As at now, it is completely possible zos are not even looking into this. If they are, then they're not saying anything about it.

    Hey everyone,

For the sake of troubleshooting this a little and trying to rule out a couple things, could those experiencing this issue make sure your video card drivers are up-to-date (there was a new driver for Nvidia Geforce 900 version cards released today), and ensure that your addons are disabled/removed? Being able to rule both those things out will help us narrow down what the cause of this issue may be.

    Thank you!

Ok it's been 5 days now, all drivers are up to date, no addon's running.

The Loading screens are still long, what next?

Yeah I just gave up trying to play. One character in Craglorn the other in vet Deeshan and every 2-3 steps I am getting loading screens after waiting forever to even spawn in. I did complete one quest but it took a very long time trying to dance around the lag, hits not registering and the loading screens constantly moving around.

I submitted a ticket a few days ago and CS did reply to me again today asking for another Consultant Report and a few tracerts and ping tests. Fine, sent them again but that isn't the problem.

One solution, if you've been in the game since Beta, and haven't re-downloaded, you may want to try that.

My main PC has been plagued forever with delays.. The Launcher could take up to 5 minutes to show the play button, hitting Play took forever to load the login screen, etc...

Recently I was going to be laid up (literally) for about a week post-op, so I decided to see if my laptop could run ESO. I copied about 25 GB of the patch files onto a flash drive to speed download time, then started the installer on the laptop. But when I stopped it to add the files from the flash drive, I noticed they didn't look anything like each other. That got me thinking...

I let the laptop finish downloading normally, and when I found it could run the game (if at abysmal graphic settings) I erased my main PC and started over. Its like night and day. Everything loads SO much faster. Really wish someone had told me the file structure had changed - I would have done this months ago.

To be honest, this is really laughable excuse. Before IC release it was 1 minute of loading screen on average. Now it's up to 3 minutes. Yeah, loading time is a display driver malfunction. Seems legit!
  • Redeviledna666
It is beyond ridiculous. Takes MINUTES now to load other areas, before the patch it took one at the most.

Of course its only happened since the release of IC, the fact they try to point the finger at our rigs is very similar to all companies that release new content. Its "never" them.

Hope tonight's maintenance fixes these probs. I'm getting widely fluctuating frame rate and latency too. My frame rate changes from the low 30 to maybe 75 if lucky. Usually hovers around 55-58. Latency is ridiculous - usually around 300 and then jumps to 999+ and back again.

I don't think this has anything to do with drivers or the patch. I believe it is lack of hardware. I would almost bet rather than buying a bunch of new servers for this patch they repurposed some of the existing hardware for IC because they were not running at capacity before the patch. This in turn put more of a load on the entire game along with the influx of returning players makes for long load times everywhere.

Just picking numbers out of the air for the explanation. Example represents servers running each section of the game. When you travel from place to place you are logging off of one set of hardware and on to another. The more of a load on the servers the longer the load screens are.

    Before patch:
    AD zone 5 PCs
    DC zone 5 PCs
    EP zone 5 PCs
    Cyrodill 5 PCs

    After Patch:
    AD 4
    DC 4
    EP 4
    Cy 4
    IC 4

Numbers are way off, but you get the idea. At least that is what I think is going on.

The loading screens are horrible. I've started keeping a book next to my computer so I can read while I'm waiting. This needs to be fixed.

I hope loading doesn't take longer and longer after each dlc.
