"I still do not understand why I followed the advice of Captain Rana to bring the villagers of Bleakrock into safety. We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

I buy games because I like the background. If there hadn't been any TES-ishness (or other background I might be interested in), I never would have given it a second glance, no matter how good the rest had been...

Technically liking other TES games motivated me to play beta, and playing beta sold me on the games potential. That's why I bought it. I would not have bought it sight unseen, been burned too many times before doing that.

I dont like MMOs in general, so this is the first MMO I play just because is Elder Scroll game. Else, it should have been classified as any other MMO I dont care to play.

Hard to say. Im long time MMO player, sure ESO is the very first MMO I joined like 1 year before launch so I suppose TES has something to do with it too.

    Major Elder Scrolls fan.

I am not looking for Skyrim Online, mostly because I have nightmares about cooperative versions of the single player games. Todd Howard is right to not be interested in that.

No, I wanted a massive online game with thousands of other players that spanned all of Tamriel, not just a Province, and ESO is as close as I can get to that.

But, mark my words, I am here because this is an Elder Scrolls game, not because it is an MMO. I don't care if it caters to all of the MMO tropes that people bring with them as baggage.

When I leave the game, it will be because I want to play an Elder Scrolls game that is an MMO, not the other way around.

I like the idea of MMOs and I've played a few, but I'm not one of the people who plays every big name MMO which comes out.

So the main thing which drew me to this game was that it's a TES game, but I was hoping for a TES MMO, not another Skyrim (I prefer Oblivion anyway) so the fact that it is an MMO and has some elements common to that genre rather than previous TES games doesn't bother me.

(Although I do wish they'd scrap classes and just make them all skill lines which anyone can use, and bring back the other schools of magic.)

Combination of 1 and 3 really.

I love the TES line, I also love specific things about MMO's. Not PVP, but just about everything else. Admittedly, I am also rather hard to please in so much as I don't like games that look likes anime, anything space involved, FPS, forced gender play (yeah Witcher is dumb forcing me to be a guy eww), or may resemble a cartoon my children watch.

Before ESO, LOTRO held my heart as the best of the best. It still does. ESO is pretty and updated, but lacks so many features and options.

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

If it didn't have Elder Scrolls in the title I wouldn't have bothered. I think they've done a pretty good job mixing TES and MMO elements into one.

Every time they add an element from the single player tes games they sell more copies.

Stealing, killing NPCs, weighty combat and removing items from the world etc.

Its getting better all the time.

No, you see, I bought Morrowind because the promo Dunmer looked awesome.

I bought every other TES game after that because Morrowind was awesome.

quote: I bought every other TES game after that because Morrowind was awesome.

I was pushed into Morrowind so i could have some grounding in game mechanics while discussing rpg video games with my son. I sank into that world and came out changed so yes, it was Morrowind that did it.

I'm not meshing well with the MMO aspects of this game and that makes me sad since it means I can't easily go explore other areas. That may change since it took me two years in Skyrim before I really felt confident and strong. In the meanwhile I just play each alliance with an alt as a single player who occasionally waits for others to help in dungeons.

It's kind of funny though. I am an elf at heart and truly prefer the AD. Last night I was in Daggerfall with a Breton sorcerer and ran into the AD invaders in the first mages guild book retrieval ruin. I had to pause a moment to get my game face on since I wanted to run up to them and say, "wait! I'm on your side" which, of course, I was not in that circumstance.

You don't know how true this is haha

Had 2 real life buddies buy it on Ps4, played to level 10-20ish and left. Only like 11% of Ps4 players have the level 50 trophy after 3 months. That's crazy.

Welp *shrug* Zos got $54 dollars from them and I warned them it's not "skyrim online."

My opinion is that MMORPG is the crappiest genre of games ever.
My opinion of the TES series is that it's kind of a not that stellar, very overrated series of CRPG. I played them all a lot of course.

Why the hell did I actually bought it? I have no clue. In the end I do think it is the best game with a TES slapped on it and the MMO that I played the most.

Actually the TES aspect was what gave me pause and made me wait until I received the game as a gift. There are some aspects I like about it but after watching the developer QA on imperial city while it was on test make me wonder if the people in charge of the creative development ever played the other TES games. The one comment that resonated that feeling was the dismissive of surface only swimming. I don't think there necessarily have to be underwater zones but the ability to explore under water was an aspect found through out the canon.
To the original point I am glad I tried it for myself to decide, it is holding my interest and imperial city has motivated me to play again.

I bought this game because I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls universe. It's not even just that I enjoyed previous TES games (although I definitely did), it's much more that I really like the setting. This is my first MMO, and when I first heard that it was going to be an MMO I was a little skeptical about whether that would ruin the experience for me, but I got pretty excited about it anyway, and pre-ordered the physical Imperial edition that came with the Molag Bal statue and the awesome coffee table book (mostly because I wanted the book - and holy crap was I ever impressed with the book when I got my hands on it).

I'm still wary of other MMOs, but despite the bugs and flaws, I've overall been very very happy with ESO, and in the past year and a half (almost) I haven't been tempted to quit yet.

I have played every TES game since TES 2: Daggerfall. I also bought ESO because I like TES games, especially modded.

I dislike MMO gameplay in general. I only play ESO because I like to roleplay with other players in a TES setting. The actual gameplay sucks in my opinion and just bores me. When I want good and exciting gameplay I play modded Skyrim.

I had high hopes for a TES MMO, played it through Beta. Weren't to happy. -Bought the Imperial-edition. -Stopped playing until it became F2P. Played it ever since, but haven't found ANY reason to drop gold in the crownstore.
And the way the game is being messed up (imo), I foresee a quick transition to Fallout 4 when it arrives.

OK, mostly TES fans I see, almost none MMO fans. Thats good, that means devs can get rid of all that MMOish nonsense with infinite grinding for gear and levels and CPs, and instead concentrate on giving us interesting multiplayer TES experience
Do you like to run things in all Khajiit teams? Me too, so don't ever hesitate to contact me in game (@RakshaTheKhajiit, PC NA) if you'd like to be in one of our all Khajiit runs or you need more Khajiit for your runs.
