OK, mostly TES fans I see, almost none MMO fans. Thats good, that means devs can get rid of all that MMOish nonsense with infinite grinding for gear and levels and CPs, and instead concentrate on giving us interesting multiplayer TES experience

The devs have been saying this is what they are doing all along... but in actuality are spending most of their efforts trying to appease the MMO crowd who will drop ESO when the next big MMO comes out. They don't seem to understand that if they put the effort into pleasing us TES players and they make ESO the "Multiplayer Elder Scrolls" we all long for, they will have willing and paying customers for LIFE.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Dunno how much you fallow mods for oblivion, marrowind, and skyrim, But there is a huge mod with a lot of high profile modders working on it called "World of Tamriel". that allows you to play them with your friends in the same game save. Its still in Alpha tho.

I knew about Beyond Skyrim and Tamriel Rebuilt and the recently "announced" skyrim online @Birdy_Reene but I wasn't aware of World of Tamriel. I'll have to keep a lookout for it.

I don't think ANY of those projects will actually ever get completed. If they do, that's great, but I have my doubts. I also have my doubts about ESO being able to fill out all of Tamriel but I think that's the best bet.

yea I hear you. Either way, I look at it like this. Its the first major attempt at bring TES to the MMO world. so im cutting ESO a lot of slack. For a first attempt, im pleased. It will get better.

I expected it to be very MMOy and was pleasantly surprised by how TESy it was

    Both for me

I love TES so would have played it even if it wasn't an MMO. But i love MMO's too so would have probably played it even if it wasn't TES.

Having said that, i hated the beta cause i expected it to be more MMO than it was. Once i got my head around the fact it's slighly TES and slightly MMO i'm loving it!

most people who rage quit when they realise this is not skyrim online

A comment often used against people who complain about the general lack of inspiration in ESO! At least be fair and say 'when they realise this is not skyrim, Oblivion or Morrowind online.'

Then you have to ask 'why not? That would have been amazing and innovative. A truly new perspective on the MMO. A true play the way you like....

Personally I think Bethesda sold out the TES brand. It's a decent generic MMO, but it could have been so much more and I don't think people are wrong in being disappointed with that.

When I first heard that there was to be a TES MMO I was overjoyed. It wasn't because I needed Tamriel in an MMO, it was because I thought, finally, someone to reinvigorate mmo's and move away from the WoW mould, reinvent the mmo experience. Alas it was not to be.

I can't help but think that they made a TES game for MMO fans rather than and MMO for TES fans, as it should have been. I'm not going to rage quite over it, but it does limit my interest in the game somewhat.

Of course, but I could say the same about Oblivion.
    And Skyrim.

    Morrowwind?

No, you see, I bought Morrowind because the promo Dunmer looked awesome.

I bought every other TES game after that because Morrowind was awesome.

    Well said.

I tried morrowind when it came to console.

I had never played a game like it.

    So open and non linear.

I really think the visits to some of those lands here are my favorite parts.

ESO is a straight up love letter to my formative tes, gsmeplay experience.

This poll is pretty interesting, because it's not really showing what types of people bought the game, but rather what types of people bought the game and are still around.

I actually meant to check the last option.

I love this game because it's finally an Elder Scrolls role-playing experience I can have with people other than myself alone in my mother's basement with no girlfriend.

Seriously though, the Elder Scrolls series has had a profound impact on my life and philosophies.
