I've been trying to figure what's going on in some of these situations too. Seems like it may be part of the overall performance/lag/latency whatever you want to call it issue. If I put my block up in response to seeing a certain animation same as before sometimes it doesn't work. If I anticipate (or guess) and put my block up before the animation starts it works.

Yeah but the Animation from the NPC is the clue sooo you can block...

I've noticed that it is incredibly more difficult now, to the point it's frustrating and myself as a casual player do not have the patience to continue getting killed over and over and over. I'm not ashamed to be a casual player, there is nothing wrong with it. Unless they fix their "MMO" I don't see how they can justify the amount of nerfs they've done.
Maybe I'm just bad at the game, I probably am so please don't say "get good" blah, blah, blah.

Just so comrade. But hopefully if this is what's going on, performance improvements already in the works will be taking care of it.
