The overall crowd interested in discussing this feature is niche. Whether its for or against in all the thread polls since March its less than 2,000 ppl for all consoles and PC
regardless of your opinions you can't develop an argument proving that more than 1% of the overall population cares enough to come voice their opinions on the topic here.

My point? These are situations where text chat is vital. In the first pop we couldnt even ask the guy if he was a healer ffs. 2nd I could have typed instructions on how to get to instance if they were new and didnt know.
3rd and also for the first we could type in local group LF heal. And probably filled the group in minutes.
This is why people like me leave the game. Why every person I have spoken to who plays or used to play this game say the non inclusion of text is either 'weird' or 'stupid' depending on how passive the person is. There are situations were text chat is not preferable but essential you anti texters can bury your head in the sand all you like but text would only improve the game. Not diminish it. Especially with a group finder as crappy as this one is.

Nergie....you make good points of interest of why a text chat feature makes sense for you but....these are people problems not communication issues. If they won't talk, then they may or may not text chat. No one can draw a conclusion from these examples that one rectifies the other. Did you send them a text msg or are you assuming the communication issue is voice only without verifying the issue?
My suggestion to these situations is to development meaningful TESO relationships with actual in-game friends who you can play with and for PUGs...expect the unexpected. on PC ppl are apprehensive and suggest to enjoy the game, find a good guild to avoid the unexpected.

Not?
Communication?
Issues?
Wassawha?
See your 'solutions' all seem to presume that people play the exact same way as you. People dont. No one plays the same. I like levelling solo. I dont like accepting friend requests from people I dont know. Most of my friends on psn dont like mmos. Why should I have to message people out of game? Forcing me and them to leave the game to type them a bloomin question? And last but not least I am not going to spend my time messaging every bloody person I come across to find out if their mic is working or if they speak english or if they are in any ways competent.
You have found a game that caters exactly to your personal play style. Congratulations. Seriously im happy you are happy.
Im not you.
And neither are the 700 odd people who voted yes to this poll.
Please try to learn and understand this.

The ask of did they use text via the console isn't third party...its first party as the console makers software is always primary over the game itself but the point of the comment was to understand IF its truly a resolution to have text chat from their experience. If Nergie didn't do that maybe next time Nergie will and I'm sure Nergie will comment as such so we all learn what may be viable in a given experience from one user to the next.
The game socially is too many fun already which is why you get things that are cool, normal and also get things that are unexpected and annoying. Text chat has spams and walls of text...voice chat has weird sounds and music playing.
That's a people problem on all platforms

You can't control people, you can engineer processes and systems to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible taking into account people are unpredictable.
I say that a LFG text chat channel, that anyone could toggle on when needed, would reach way more people than going to the Undaunted camp and screaming over people and would be faster than using that broken group tool. Plus, people with social problems, women, mutes, etc. Would be able to communicate. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Voice chat would still be there. I don't want to get rid of that unless it is a one or the other chouce, then I choose, text.
I would stop there. A trade text channel would be great. And a PVP channel. And a discussion channel.

I honestly think you are happy but you have aversion to an absent feature. Lets discuss alternatives that help everyone
OK

SOrry if any of my comments made or are making you conclude that I'm trying to control anyone.
I am intentionally trying to discuss and bring to a head a realistic proposal that all sides of this discussion are onboard with.
The big part is navigating along what ZOS hasn't decided against.
Will you help keep the discussion to that tune and also add ideas with me around that theme?
Note he still tries to tell others what to talk about.
ZOS changed the entire structure of the game from a sub to a cash shop.
They can change this too.
He doesn't want text chat ever , he's said so.
You don't have to listen to him nor talk about what he wants to , if you want real , normal ,text chat , continue to ask for it.
It's completely "realistic" they can change their minds and add it.
He just doesn't want them to , and doesn't want you to continue to ask them to.

Robkrush,
SOrry if any of my comments made or are making you conclude that I'm trying to control anyone.
I am intentionally trying to discuss and bring to a head a realistic proposal that all sides of this discussion are onboard with.
The big part is navigating along what ZOS hasn't decided against.
Will you help keep the discussion to that tune and also add ideas with me around that theme?
A realistic proposal that all sides are on board with:
1 add text chat
2 add the ability to minimize the chat box for minimalists
I voted no because clearly ZoS is taking a visionary stance. Voice and no text is the way of the future and ZoS will guide us into the new era.

The tears were delicious but all things must pass.
... after mass outcries from the playerbase they changed this.
Exactly. So now you see why this whole text chat thing has lost.
We'll continue to fight for text chat mate, even if this post is still being bumped in 2020. In cases that are dire to the game's overall community communication whilst online like this we aren't going to accept no. Not from Zenimax and not from you.
If this thread is in anyway affecting your time personally in a negative way on this forum there is a tab to report it to the admins. I suggest you use it or move on. Or just keeping bumping the post! Up to you! Hope this helped.
I'll probably just continue to bump it every now and then when I'm bored & it pops up on page one. Once IC drops I'm sure Zen will close this thread anyway. It's fairly obvious that it was the reason they consolidated the topics to this thread.
Hi, everyone. We understand that people are going to disagree from time to time, but please remember to keep your comments respectful at all times on our forums, even when you disagree with others. Insults or other disruptive behavior do not help further discussion and can move a thread off topic quickly. We encourage sharing opinions, but we ask that they are constructively stated when doing so, as this will help keep the discussion on track. Thank you!

What a well thought out response from the staff. I'm glad you were able to clarify the issue for everyone so that there was no more confusion on the topic. This will surely cease all further conflict on the subject.
I really hope that the text chat feature is implemented with the IC patch, and without error/flaw. I absolutely can't stand the voice chat feature any further. Every time I go to any hub or major area, I'm hearing music blasting or misc. things in people's backgrounds. Not to mention, I just got finished hearing some "cyber-thugs" repeatedly saying the "n-word" whilst PVP'ing. It's getting outrageous now. Please ZOS. PLEASE! PLEASE INCORPORATE THE TEXT CHAT WITH THE UPCOMING UPDATE!
There are about six in total and not one of them addresses the actual topic. Can they really do nothing more than police threads and offer nothing of substance?eventide03b14a_ESO wrote: »Hi, everyone.
