Mount upgrade is insanely tedious!!

I really don't get from where did they come up with the idea to upgrade 1% each day for 6 months straight , just to max out 1 character.

It is really pointless and tedious, and outrageous.

So if i have a lot of characters, I have to log in each day, open each and upgrade for 6 months? that is if all of them were there from the beginning and I didn't create others on the way.

Is there something something I'm missing here or any easier way to do it? (not talking about spending 180$ per character for full upgrade).

Imo at least it should be account wide, logging in everyday for 6 months is already long enough.

You're lucky you get to max out all 3 stats now.

It used to be that you can only upgrade a horse 50 times. That means you got 50 points to spread across the 3 stats in any fashion you wanted. And that was on a single horse. People would often purchase other horses to upgrade differing stats. AND you had to buy a horse on every character. Now you get to buy a horse and it's available to all characters.

No one said you had to upgrade the riding skill all the way.

Either you take the time, or you put up the cash.

I started a Sorc a few days ago and didnt want to have a 1 speed horse, so I spent like $30 and bought the riding lessons from crown store. That got me to 50 speed instantly. Made lvling much faster getting from grind spot to grind spot.

Aye, good luck not getting frustrated in Cyrodill with your no stamina, no speed horse. I know there's an assault skill, but it takes up a slot and doesn't help with the horses stamina and hit tolerance level. That if you so much as sneeze at your TV screen, you get thrown off your horse.

I never said no speed. But it's not imperative to have 60 speed. At least not enough to need to sweat about logging in everyday, on all characters. Plus my point was if it was a problem for the OP, he didn't HAVE to do it.

I fear this could become another example of PvP requirements being imposed on PvE. I quite understand why PvPers want the mounts maxed out and they want them maxed out now, but for PvE the present system of working for achievements in a MMORPG has much to commend it.

Perhaps, as skill balancing changes should be, this is something that could be applied differently to PvP and PvE. Then again, perhaps this isn't intended to be the kind of game where everyone enters PvP with instantly created characters with the same stats, perhaps there needs to be some allowance made for different levels of progression? If that's the case, then progression shouldn't be instant but something you work at over a period of time. Rather like the present system in fact  !

In PVE I'm on my mount about 5% of the time, maybe. Much better to just take a casual walk.. Especially if you farm Alchemy, no need to get off the mount every 15 seconds.

I personally have no issue with the current method to training Mounts.

It's an RPG, and IMO some things are going to take some time. But that's fine. I'll be on this game for years, so I have time.

Absolutely, same here. I hardly use my mounts at all. One of the reasons I'm leveling so slowly is because it takes me so long to get everywhere due to harvesting all nodes  ! Nonetheless, I regard their development as an integral part of my PvE progression.

Sorry about the italicised original post, I fixed it on edit by removing it entirely but for some reason although only one word was originally within the italics marks, the rest of the post followed suit.

    It's a long-term project.

You don't have to max out your horse on everything. Pick one stat to start. Or if you are going for PvP, do 2 speed, 1 stamina.

In my case, bag space was always the most important and that's what most of my horses had when the limit was still 60. When it was changed so we could increase all three stats I started doing speed and then stamina until they were all maxed out.

Yes. The fastest way to find something to harvest is to get on your horse. As soon as you do you will see columbine or a rune and have to get off again...

solution is morning before work log in, the toons keep your alts at a stable especially the ones that you don't play and when done bring back to stable then, log in all your toons real quick and upgrade at once and be on your day then instead of 6months per toon you get 6 months for all 8 toons ;)

It's very normal. Things take time. Many games do this. It takes even longer to max out crafting.

I've upgraded my horse 68 times since launch. I'm glad that I put the time in to earn the benefit of 60 speed. I'd be pretty irritated if you could do it in half the time because waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just stating what I did becuase I dont want to wait 60 days for a 60 horse. It's an option we have if you dont want to wait that long. They most likley are not going to change this as it is a source of revenue for them to keep us buying crowns.

I don't personally see an issue with it. Actually, I think this mechanic could be expanded to include even more riding skills.

In my Advanced Mounts Overhaul Concept I suggest 8 additional riding skills that could be added... giving you 480 additional days to train.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Like many people have said, the wife and I both log into our characters each morning with that first, perfect cup of coffee.

We train our Mounts, and set up any researching if slots have opened up by then. That way, when we get home from our jobs, there's more time for actual adventuring.

It's become quite the pleasant part of our morning ritual, and our Mounts on our characters are getting some impressive stats and are getting pretty useful out in the wild.
