Nirncrux Armor Question ...

Everyone:

After perusing the patch notes, I am left with the impression that applying the nirnhoned trait to, say, a chest piece will only provide that nirn buff to the chest piece, at a maximum of 18 percent spell resistance.

So, if I want 18 percent spell resistance across the board for my character(s), I would need to apply the trait to all seven armor pieces?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

That is correct. Nirn was applying it across the character and not the piece of armour as was intended.

    Well, basically.

But with 2.0, it even increased stuff like breton or dragonknight passive spellresi, it even increased that major spell resistence buff you get from skills. It won't do that anymore.

That said, now armor nirn will be pretty useless, but on the other hand, impenetrable and nirnhoned weapons now have time to shine again.

So it's nerfed to like 1/7?

Even more because it only increases armor spell resistence and no spellreist from other sources.

hmm, I didn't know armors have spell resistant. Thought they were only physical resistant there.

Any armor that gives armor resistence automatically gives the same amount of spell resistence.

And well, any weapon that gives weapon damage gives the same amount of spell damage. (That's why quite a few magicka builds use dualwield+class skills. (to get more spell damage because dual wield has more weapon damage than staffs.)

    Thanks, folks.

Does this mean fortified nirncrux is worthless now, not only in terms of the effect it has on a character, but also for harvesting and selling purposes?

Meanwhile, potent nirncrux retains its value across the board?

Good questions... I was wondering the same thing.

Now I'm even debating whether or not to obtain & research Nirn traits. I don't see how it is worth it anymore... like how much spell resist would it grant me from one piece of legendary armor, like a chest?

And potent nirncrux will still be very useful, yeah. No idea about prices.

You will need to research nirn if you plan on crafting the highest tier gear from IC. It will require 9 traits.

I thought everybody knew this by now. Yes, nirned armour is now completely useless. No point in researching unless you want twice-born armour, the new sets are 7 trait.

You actually mentioned the reason to research nirn. The twice-born star set was added after release with Upper Craglorn if I remember. That tells me that they will probably add more traits down the line. Not saying that a new set would be worth anything or not but always good to be prepared.

Last thing you want to happen is a new crafting trait announced and you really want that 10 trait armor set. Course you could pay someone to make it for you I guess.

Nirnhoned is still one of the best traits to have on armor. But now it's in line with other armor traits.
No armor trait in this game is having a big impact, only minor improvements and for min/maxing and Nirnhoned is still having a rather big impact when used on heavy armor.

Nirnhoned is still a great choice, but it's no longer superior to normal armor traits.

That's right. Nirncrux is basically a useless item now. You are better off with reinforced now. I can't believe they did this after the literal weeks of crux farming people have done and the literal months of crafting research that people have done. Nirncrux is now virtually a waste of time.

So now they need to make nirncrux as easily obtainable as the other armor traits are to get. Otherwise, it's out of balance.
