What is with these 12-15k surprise attacks?

Is it common to see a nightblade doing this damage this high with just one spammable ability?

✭✭At least Jabs or beam is avoidable-ish. LoS beam, roll/block Jabs, etc -- Surprise attack? it's a surprise, a painful surprise from behind.

✭15K from surprise is ok, but that's low end of a surprise critical snipe when built right. Honestly should be more concerned about 15K Hvy attacks, 30K wrecking blows, 15-20K Crystal Frags, 20K detonations, etc, etc..non of which are from stealth.
Use Magelight to reduce from stealth hits, if you have shields use those religiously. The 15K hit will be less then half or better depending on mitigation skills used. NB from stealth hit is really only effective when your not expecting it and using the hard counters.4 -

AshTal✭✭✭✭I so hope 2.1 brings some balance into PvP - right now its just no fun unless your the uber 1% - I found non Vet PvP great however the VET PvP just seems pointless unless you have been in it from the start. Even at Vet 14 in all purple gear I get 2 hit killed most of the time. I can hit an enemy with everything I have and manage to knock them down 20%. Yeah maybe I am crap but then so it appears would be most people. Just not fun.1 -

7k if u stack wpn dmg as ***, most nbs will do 4 - 5k.. on my templar i healed 6k non crit and even 10k + crits with bol on PTS with a lot of CPs invested in healing done/received.. and as magicka nb (funnel spammer).. mutagen + funnel is more than enough as heal to kill 1 vs 1 a stamina nb, heal ~3k per 1s.. u just overheal their dmg to esy, naturally u need a lot of CPs invested in healing received/done.. and even if he bring u to 20% once, u just get burst heal from mutgen 7k.. imo healing will be the new way to play this game.. i dueled dk whos from 3k hp got 22k with one dragon blood.. just GG..The Farron family team (EU)

You must be new here. So the way this game works is that everybody rolls for 0 health. You then get 10 mil stamina or 10 mil magicka and 1-shot people who don't also have 10 mil magicka and a shield, or 10 mil stamina and hold block down.
If you happen to encounter someone that knows what they are doing, the fight becomes about draining the opponents resources and it's pretty fun. That's not to say that 1-shotting people who hit for 5k with lethal arrow or 10 with crystal frags isn't also very fun.1 -

I see your new here let me give you an idea about how wrong you are ^^
Wrecking blow, not interruptible , extemely high dmg, cause knockback/stun, gives 20% dmg buff to next attack which can be again wrecking blow because most stamina builds are 1 button people.
Executioner , instant dead if people get into range, Better than the nb executioner. Provides 18% extra dmg to low hp targets when slotted
Critical Charge, 28 meter gap closer, more dmg the further you are, will always crit, does reliably high dmg than surprise attack.
Rally - a 20% weapon dmg buff that is also one of the best heals in the game, gives a Hot with a big heal at the end. Can be pre castes even in stealth. One of the best skills in the game.
Steel tornado - by far the best aoe in the game, does insane dmg, more to wounded targets also have by far the highest aoe range in the game with 12 meters.
Snipe - stupidly op skill that needs balancing, extremely high range , hard to see when fired, does stupid amount of dmg seen some hit 18k ^ most are 12k. Can 2 hit people easily.

The beam can and will kill you near instantly without warning. The game is designed so terribly. 25% of the time you're taking damage there will be no spell effects, your resource pools will stay the same, and they will be instantly dropped to 0 with only a single ability on there. Which is usually the beam, or siege weapons.0
