I find the lvl 20-25 blue recipes hardest to find or buy. I got almost all the others.

My provisioner is getting all the blue recipes until she knows them, but eventually I must have them all on all toons. Whenever possible I want to find them myself.

The most evil recipe of all is Banana Surprise. I've gotten the prov quest for this on two toons and none of my four active toons have found it, even after compulsively checking every guild store I pass over the course of weeks of active play. It's become an obsession.

I am actually wondering if the recipe has been removed but they forgot to remove the quest target.

I have around 5 banana surprise just sitting in my bank. I had issues finding four-eye grog. After weeks of searching finally got it on a guild store for 300g

Somewhat, only those I plan on using
I originally was only interested in finding recipes that i intended to use but it's a lot easier to do writs if i just learn every recipe i find.

I was one of the first ones I got, as a drop in something. So it's definitely still out there.

Wow, that makes me simultaneously hopeful and like gnashing my teeth!

I found someone on another thread talking about their troubles with Four-Eyed Grog, which I found right away myself. I wonder if certain recipes don't spawn in some instances? If you find another copy, I'd be happy to take it off your hands with my looted wealth. :)

Why are these low-level ones so hard to find? Legit question.

I wanted to find it myself, but even after I gave up and searched sales, no dice.

I must admit i trawl through various guild traders looking for recipes i havent got yet. Even though every single one of my chars is level 50 prov (even the low levels) i do on one of my chars attempts to get everything.

Not doing provisioning at the moment, though that doesn't mean I don't want any recipes!
You can never be too prepared so I'll always be ready to change profession (also I just like to collect everything in the game, just like witcher 3!)

I am obsessively collecting recipes on all my characters, though I only ever buy a recipe if it's one my main character doesn't know yet, and it's within my price range. If it's really cheap, I'll buy it for my other characters.

For the Regions above Region 1, there is just one paired group of recipes, Region 2 holds 20/25, Region 3 holds 30/35, Region 4 holds 40/45, Region 5 holds 45/50 (I think, it's been a while), Coldharbour has randoms with a higher probability for L50 dropping chance down as the level drops. That's background, so to speak.

Region 1 drops L1, L5, L10 and L15 recipes with L1/L5 being the most common, so effectively there's a lower chance to find specific low level recipes because there's twice as many recipes but also the RNG is skewed to the lower end.

    Helpful, thanks. This makes sense.

Still haven't found chicken breast nor banana surprise. So is the best way to run around in the first zone (or newbie island?)

Well, I cycled between the 2 waypoints in the Roost, stealing everything nearby, and after 3 loops, got three new level 1 provisioning recipes, including chicken breast and banana surprise, (and one motif). Have had to learn the hard way that stealing is the only way to get recipes and motifs fast enough unless you find some good trade partners or join a guild. But all the guilds I've joined have none of the level 1 recipes.

Not necessarily, I run low level alts through DC and EP's first dwemer ruins. Get a lot if recipes and motifs without stealing.

I'll try it out sometime, but in general chest loot from Aldmeri Dominion dungeons has been abysmal for me, because other players take most of it. It's not a fast and reliable way to get recipes and motifs.

The containers that actually contain motifs and recipes are instanced to you, so other players cannot loot them before you. Also, regardless, check every backpack you come across.

I find a much larger number of containers in "owned' areas than in any ruins or dungeons I've come across. Also they are nearer to shrines that you can use to reset them. It's tedious enough grinding for recipes. I'd rather minimize the time.

The best dungeons are dwemer ruins as most of the containers are urns/pots/etc. which don't contain food like crates/barrels do, but a similar selection to backpacks - from lockpicks/solvents/racial stones to recipes/motifs, so you have much higher chances in those dungeons of finding recipes than you do in most of the others.

I agree, though, that stealing can be easier, since you can reset the containers much sooner.

There should be a plugin for that! :)

Also, remember there aren't any Dwemer ruins in the AD (at least in the first 4 zones).

There is a Dwemer Ruin in Stros M'Kai (AD starter island), as well as 5 (including the group dungeon) in the Alik'r Desert (AD, zone 4) and 2 (including the well-known Razak's Wheel public dungeon) in Bangkorai (AD, zone 5).

Huh? I think you are confused. All of your examples are DC zones, not AD zones. Khenarthi Roost is the AD starter island. Stros M'Kai is the DC starter island. .

There is a addon (hmm... Master Recipe List?) that shows all recipes, which one you have, which char knows them
and you can add them to a tracker list. When you are at a merchant it shows which one you are looking for.
I really like it but I don't use it anymore since I miss only one recipe.

Mobile Bank has a feature that does this and also (obviously) allows you to look at the banks and multiple characters inventories. It will also tell you which characters have the ingredients needed for making the recipes. I use sous-chef to track whether particular characters have specific recipes.

You should probably start using whater your favourite recipe tracking add-on is again when they release IC
