Even in 2002 I found the graphics painful. Uncanny valley all over the place... I could never bring myself to play it because of how awful the graphics were. Those were the days when true 3D character models were far, far worse and far, far less realistic to the eyes than 2D character sprites, because the technology just wasn't there to make them look anything other than terrible.ontheleftcoast wrote: »I did love Morrowind but when I tried playing it again recently the graphics were painful. I so want Skywind to finish so I can experience the fun of getting dive bombed by cliff racers in Vvardenfel in glorious early 2010's quality graphics! And if ESO ever opens up that zone they damn well better have cliff racers.

I can handle the so-called crappy graphics (which were cutting edge at the time) by comparing them in my head to pac man. Always works.
I loved that you could go back to various NPCs and ask them about all the topics they knew - conversations in ESO seem to shut off to a single line of text which I find depressing. I also loved that sometimes getting involved in one faction cost you with respect to others (and sometimes merchant prices and so on).
It aggravates me to no end how horribly the various morrowind critters were translated into ESO
Cliff Racers should NOT be "feathered"
Netches should be MUCH much MUCH bigger - and it's the Bettys not the Bulls who are aggressive.
Scribs should be cuter. And where is the weird echo-ey thumping thing they used to do??
Nix Hounds should be bigger, and darker, and cooler. And they should do that "Hoon" call / thing.
Mud crabs should be much bigger and LOOK like piles of mud (heck that's why they were called mud crabs for gosh sakes).
ESO could learn a lot of cool-ness from Morrowind
Aye, not begrudging you on that... I've done more than my fair share in both platforms, seen it all. Definately fun to have something like that come after some work.
Yeah idk.. it felt more rewarding to glitch on xbox than just enter a cheatcode.
In order to get the glitch to work properly.. u actually had to complete a long ass quest to be able to do it.
It was that morag tong quest where u had to collect like 60 items from all over the map. I feel like i earned that glitch lol.
It was a fun
I agree about Morrowind, totally disagree about ESO vs. Skyrim. And i mean the first xbox disc version where you could do that 'left/right trigger glitch' and basically create tons of crazy builds (given that you completed that long ass quest that let u add +skills to enchant).
If anyone knows what i'm talking about, that was an awesome awesome game.
This game is 2nd best (honestly wasn't a fan of Skyrim or Oblivion).
Enough said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPqwDGXxLhU - last night and what it brought home to me was that today, game developers and players alike think that what were deliberate game design decisions in old games were just missing features due to primitive technology. for morrowind, the main examples of that would be using text instead of voice acting, and not having any map markers. If you dig around in the morrowind data files you'll find that they recorded greetings and stuff for Vivec but then didn't use it, instead having him communicate only through text.
