Almost forgot: You could have 17 (!!) pieces of armor and clothing on you at once, every piece with it's own anchantment...

When I went to the Red Mountain to finish off Dagoth Ur I looked like a bag lady. I actually wore found armor pieces because they were the best in the game but, unlike my own enchanted gear which had to be on exquisite quality clothing, these pieces were on ordinary skirts and shirts and boots. It made the Cuirass of the Savior's Hide look tacky. I did appreciate being able to enchant clothes in Oblivion so I could look good while battling Daedra.

That's something I miss from Morrowind, the alien creepiness of the daedric ruins. Those looked like something out of a nightmare and contained things like a Hunger that looked like nightmares.
Scura di Notte - Altmer Nightblade (gear)
Lalin del Sombra - Bosmer Sorcerer (alchemy/enchanting)
    Angevin Sarkany - Bosmer Dragonknight
Alkemene Velothi - Dunmer Warden (Morrowind)
Sanna yos'Phalen - Altmer Sorcerer (provisioning)
    Cosima di Mattina -Altmer Sorcerer
    Naria Andrano - Dunmer Templar
Luca della Serata - Redguard Templar

I love all TES games, played from Arena to ESO, i know some people would want to burn me for this but i'm a "medieval" fantasy guy, the more medieval, the more mundane the better for me, this is one of the main reason the "allien" atmosphere of Morrowind that almost everyone loves soo much drives me FAR away from the game, it's my least played TES game (and i have more than 5k hours in Skyrim alone for example), i just can't connect with Dunmeri culture and lore, i like to read about it alot but not play it, my favorite TES game was Oblivion, i love the mix of medieval/roman style of the game, although i agree that oblivion lacked alot in the distinction between colovian and nibenese cultures, it was spot on the right mix of RPG/action for me.

After i soaked years in oblivion (and the previous tes games) skyrim came out, i loved the game at first sight (and still do) but Beth really droped the ball with the focus on action and badass feeling everywhere over lore and RPG mechanics and the cut content that would have made the game SO MUCH more enjoyable (now almost all cut content was restored by mods and they are simple amazing), the thing they got right in my opinion was with the DLCs, loved all 3 of them and the new stories and lore that came with them, a shame they only released 3, i was totally in the hype-train for a hammerfell/cyrodiil DLC on the beth forums a few years ago and they crushed our souls if the announcement that they were done with Skyrim :(

And finally ESO came out and i fell in love again, i was a total MMO player many years ago before geting burned out of the genre by all the copy-paste MMOs on the planet and when i left MMOs i started playing single-player games and met TES with oblivion (my first singleplayer RPG love alongside mount&blade), lots of people were expecting ESO to be Skyrim 2.0 coop edition, but it turned out to be much closer to Oblivion 2.0 with coop, huge amounts of lore, MMO mechanics and an amazing PVP (lag aside) based on DAOC RVR (best PVP ever), this was amazing for a guy like me that loves oblivion and also loves MMOs and was just waiting for the breath of fresh air in the genre, perfect match, and now ESO is my favorite TES game :P

aren't we all rude? >:) he didn't want your petty saving bwahahaha jk jk

I support under water combat, the thing about morrowind I hated is when I would swing my sword at a skeever right infront of me and it would "miss" 30 times before I finally dealt damage.
    That drove me mad

Ahh... good point - Tarheer was a bosmer in the game. I just always pictured him as an almer. He 'felt' rude the same way Eldafire did.

Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Morrowind was the only game where I read an in game book and it described ruins sunken under the sea, lost to the ages.

No marker, no quest arrow pointing "hey go here."

Out of curiosity I went to the west coast of the island, lo and behold out in the sea were ruins as described in the book. Swam around and found treasure chest with sweet, sweet underwater loot.

Man that was so awesome at the time.

Most games hold your hand now and have a giant circle on the map with an arrow pointing at the chest "look here." It kills that sense on wonder and replaces it with "hit x to skip conversations, run to quest location, finish ASAP, trade game in for 5 dollars at Gamestop."

Truth- Completing Morrowind was an accomplishment. There was no handholding. You had to explore and search for the places you needed to go to or the people you needed to see. There were clues and directions given but no compass. There was a real sense of accomplishment. Remember the joy in finding a road with a signpost pointing the way to a village or city you were looking for. LOL- Lifesavers. It was great that you literally needed levitation and water breathing to explore everywhere. The placed loot was awesome. Getting a Deadric or Ebony weapon was a time for celebration. You knew you were bad ass when you could kill a vampire

This is one thing I loved about Morrowind - no matter what your level - there were things that no one could handle.

I think the design of each of the games fits the needs of the story and the fictional environment. It even connects to the timeline even in small ways. Think about what is happening in ESO with Cyrodiil. War everywhere and it stands to reason there will be a lot of places left in ruin...to explore later. We see a lot of ruins in ES IV.

I always despised the rng / FPS hybrid combat they had in morrowind. I swing at an enemy and hit it with my sword, physically, FPS style. The game then calculates via rng dice roll whether the swing connected or not.

Really? I saw it connect. I don't need your dice roll to tell me whether it did or not.
