Summary:
The IP NOC began investigating the root cause with Tier III Technical Support. It was reported that the issue was causing packet loss for customers. Operations Engineering teams were engaged, and Field Services were dispatched to a site in Chicago, IL to assist with investigations. Troubleshooting identified a protocol issue, and Operations Engineering worked with Tier III Technical Support to perform adjustments on the links. It was confirmed that the errors cleared. The traffic load was also lowered on cards in Chicago to alleviate any further issues.

Unknown since this isn't a server related issue. Depends on how quickly the new part to repair the essential backbone of the network is delivered and installed.

Nothing else that I regularly use is down for me either, just ESO. Not saying they are making it up, but I don't have any other downed sites that back up that assertion. It's like nothing happened except ESO doesn't work (2 servers supposedly on different continents, everything else fine). Excuse me if I am a bit dubious.

The thing i don't get is if its out of ZOS's hand and its so much bigger on a national or international level is why everything else seems to be working. Why aren't the flares messing up everything else?

Untrue. Character death causes the biggest gear degradation.

Funny thing is, several players reported the outage before ZoS did. And you can also go to links like this: https://downdetector.com/status/level3/map and literally see the outages. Unless multiple ISPs are lying too...

Because they are operated from companies and stuff not impacted by the outage. The outage is widespread but not all ISPs are influenced.

Yes, everything on the internet runs on the same server. Clearly either it's ZOS's fault, or absolutely everything everywhere would be down.

Weird that a really big internet backbone telecommunications provider like Level3 would decide to take the fall for ZOS though...

Sorry, but your lack of understanding of how the internet works doesn't make this ZOS's fault.

I do wish there would be some small form of compensation for inconvenience even if it isn't the staffs fault like say 50 crowns for every 40 mins the servers are offline...couldn't resist but that much would buy me that fox

Might be plausible if it was Zenimax's fault. Can't expect them to compensate for something they can't help you know.

When you discover a new area you earn xp, so your gear gets damaged.
