Best PvE Class?

Hello everyone!

Shiro here.

Question for some experienced players please - I am a new player that has experienced each class up to level 10 so far (Dragonknight, Sorcerer and NB).

I am very interested in both the Dragonknight and Sorcerer as both Magicka Dual Wield classes. A few things I have noted though and would like someone with more experience to help me with!

1.) DK's are DOT based mainly (Fire Mages) while Sorcerer's are more Burst damage and Pets (Battlemages)?

2.) I find on my DK I am unable to survive with Dragon's Blood when trying to solo world bosses...I found on my sorcerer with a Clannfear + Overload I laughed and easily solo'd everything...what am I doing wrong on my DK?

3.) I do not want to run force pulse or pulsar on either of these classes...Does that mean I am not going to be competitive in solo PVE or Trial PVE?

4.) What is in your opinions the better class suited for a traditional TES Battlemage?

Thank you in advance everyone,

Shiro Tagachi

Play the class you like. But if you want easy-mode, go DK.

If you want easiest mode during leveling go NightBlade.

Endgame isn't about leveling and any class is good in it, there is no "best" for it.

Are you trolling? Most would agree that NB is not the easiest class to learn, probably one of the most difficult. Sure they're great 1v1, and if you have DW Steel Tornado, great against trash mobs... but soloing Group bosses solo with NB is certainly not the easiest.

I find Magicka Sorc to be the easiest leveling... I blow through everything, including soloing Group bosses. Using a Clannfear pet to draw aggro, I stay in the background and burn everything from a distance.

As to the OP not wanting to use Force Pulse or Pulsar (Elemental Ring), you would be seriously handicapping yourself, particularly not using Elemental Ring because it is arguably the best spammable AoE attack a Magicka Sorc has, especially when combined with Liquid Lightning; I use Restraining Prison to lock mobs down first then unleash Liquid Lightning and Elemental Ring. Force Pulse is also the best spammable single target attack, particularly as a set up for Crystal Frag, combine that with Velocious Curse and single targets don't live long.

Also, the OP needs to understand that Dual Wield is a Stamina skill line... and wanting to be a "Magicka DK/Sorc" and use a Stamina weapon would not work well... this game is not, currently, hybrid friendly. I tried doing exactly that, being a DW Magicka-based Sorc and I found that I either had to go all-in with Stamina to get high damage with DW, or, I had to go all Magicka to get high damage with Sorc spells. Otherwise, if I tried to be 'balanced', I did crap damage and basically became a 'jack of all trades, master of none'... which at end game content, would not bode well. Needless to say I deleted that character and moved on.

Dual wield works perfect with a magicka character, you just don't need the skills from it.
Last passive with dual wielding swords, gives you a massive increased spellpower compaired with destruction staff.

    NB's are still easymode.

Difficulty is not about class. It's about build(and lack of CP if it's your first char). If you run a badly optimized stam build, you will definitely have extra layers of difficulty. But that goes for any class.

Many new players will go for this popular rouge archetype NB with DW/bow pewpew and no self-healing or defensive abilities. They choose the worst possible combination for a beginner. I think that's where this misconception is coming from, that NB's are somehow more difficult to play.

I've levelled up and play both stamblade and a magicka one, I never encountered any extra difficulty compared to my other classes, when solo'ing PvE group content or leveling. But than I also use decent builds.

First thing to note is that ESO is not a traditional ES game. It will have references and inspirations from other ES title, but that is the bulk of it.

Best (highest, consistent damage) would probably be Magicka DK, but it uses Staffs and not DW. Magicka Sorc is very reliant on their ultimate skill Overload to pull the highest DPS, and will typically only use DW or 2H for executes and dots, if at all.

If you have you heart set on DW as a main focus, I'd recommend looking into Stamina Sorc actually.

Funnel health is a good replacement for force pulse and sap essance is a good replacement for elemental ring. Templar has some options as well. Solar barrage morph for AOE and plenty of range abilities. May not get you top time for trials, but teams will like your vail or nova ultimates. Just thoughts on replacing the two abilities you don't want to use.

Why would anyone want to run around with weapons and never use it simply to gain a passive buff that one can live easily without by equipping a weapon that DOES massive damage, as in Destruction Staff, as a Magicka character? I am OK with that, people can play how they wish, but most players, myself included, wouldn't want to play this way... running around carrying a weapon that you never actually use.
