That speed buff in towns and slamming my face into walls!

I love people who use it in PVE.

I have 3 alts below level 10 that do writs & mount training so I wish more people used it.

The PS4 controller lets me walk at a slow pace even when affected by RM if I want to anyway.

let go of the walk button for a second before slamming into a wall.

    dont move for a bit.

    toggle your walk/run button.

with all those characters under your belt , i would assume you learned how to ADJUST to your gaming experience by now.

I'd pretty much abandoned this topic due to all the 'I like it so you should too' kiddies and trolls. Fortunately, decent, reasoning people with 3-digit IQs saw my original post as it was meant. Some even agreed with me. :)

Nowhere did I 'QQ' - I asked in a reasonable and humorous manner. Sure, it's not a huge issue, and great, it doesn't affect you. I asked for something that affected everyone else not a whit. Nor was I suggesting that ZoS drop everything to take care of my 'demand' (at least, some of you seem to feel I was demanding, when I wasn't). There are, in fact, times when I also love that buff, when I'm out in the field and I want to get somewhere a bit quicker. Yes, cast it on me please! But in town - and even IN BUILDINGS - no. Inside buildings, what the hell?

I love this game and play it several hours a day (I'm retired and have time on my hands!), and yes, I know it's an MMO. I come from modding single player games to suit my tastes and playstyle - I want it, I make it. However, in this game, all I can do is ask. Some requests are taken on board, some are not, it's no big deal.

Most of the 'QQ' I see on these forums is from the PvP crowd and they are rude, demanding and obnoxious to an extreme. My little request was none of those.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I get where you're coming from on this. But ZOS is a business. The changes they make to the game have to be worth the time that they put into it. You're not the only one that plays the game. They can't tailor a game played by tens of thousands of people to one individual. Maybe if they made this change, it would make you happy. But the possibility of it upsetting A LOT more people is much more important than making a single person happy.

Another option would be that in PvE, it would affect ONLY the player who uses that skill, not anyone else.
You know pro-players use this skill in PvE Trials raids to boost the whole group, don't you? I guess you don't. And since you can't really reprogram the skill to work inside the town only, this is not going to happen.

(I also guess I'm not the only one that don't mind people casting it as I hate how slow 60/60/60 horses are. You simply don't see people like that because they have nothing to complain about. All you can see are whiners disabled enough to press a few keys in a proper time-frame. They are just one part of the coin, not sure if the one that matters much.)

Regardless of whether ZOS actually does something about this issue, this thread has the merit to explain the problem to everyone who reads it. Many people are in fact very surprised that some players might not enjoy the speed buff, and even I was surprised to see how many of us just hate it.

Of course those who don't care (or enjoy annoying others) will go on spamming it, even for no reason at all, but maybe there's a silent crowd reading this who might be more careful. And even if it's not a crowd but just a few, that's already a good thing.

Also, don't care about all the "you're a QQing whiner you should shut up". On these forums, it translates with "I disagree with you, I don't want to change my playstyle in any way, I'm too lazy to even explain it to you and I enjoy crushing you down anyway". A mix of all. So just ignore.

Wow....first person I have heard complaining about getting a free speed boost...

I will always love when people cast it on me...saves me time.

hey, maybe you can start putting points into making your horse slower, that way you can really snail around.

The only time I don't like it is when I'm RPing and in walk mode already. If you haven't seen the speed boost with toggle walk on, try it. Like a slow-mo baywatch run. It's hilarious but a total RP immersion breaker.

I just want a simple option to allow me to play at my speed. When you get old, speed stops being important! :D If I could mod the game, I'd happily mod it in for myself, but as that is not an option, all I can do is ask the devs nicely to at least consider it.

If you toggle Walk for Run, does it slow down the speed effect? Makes sense that it should but how it works in practice is another thing entirely to find out.

Note, if your on the PC, there is a key bind you have to assign to get this toggle. I mapped it to a button on my mouse. Really helps with a horse that has speed at 40 or above to move around with some sense of decorum in town.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I don't like anyone buffing me in towns. Leave my character alone.

You don't have to use RM to go faster. Just use the sprint button.

I don't use RM in towns, I use the sprint button.

I was doing some RPing while in a bank and some idiot saw me walking and kept casting RM. I would stand there until it wore off and started walking again. No sooner than I took my first step, they cast RM again. This process was repeated over and over again until I got across the room.

Their only goal was to ruin my RPing and make my character run. I didn't want to run. I wanted to walk. It was not fun or funny to me, but I can out wait anyone. So in the end, they gave up and I walked out of the bank when I was finished.

    I won.

The point is... I don't like anyone buffing me in towns. Leave my character alone.

ZOS, please give us the option to not have other players affect our characters in the appropriate places. You know what skills and places that would be, so I'm not going to list them here. Thanks
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

I wouldn't mind the buff if it would allow me to keep my weapon sheathed while it plays out (read my discussion on the issue). next time if I can find someone spamming that move I will try to assault a guard then get caught in it, sweet revenge >:)

What class/ability does that speed buff come from? I've been buffed with it many times in towns and I have no idea which player it came from, and since any class can wear any gear you can't tell what someone is by looking at them.

It's called Rapid Maneuver. Just go to Cyrodiil and join a campaign and you will have the skill too. Once you join the alliance war, you will have 2 new skill lines, Assault and Support. Rapid Maneuver is in Assault. Which is funny since some of us are feeling assaulted by it. LOL

This is honestly a pointless thread for someone to complain about something that in general doesn't bother people.

So basically, complaining for the sake of complaining because the forums are already full of people complaining about connection issues, the stam regen nerf, stacked shields, etc.

The skill should have been "effects you and party" not an aoe buff from the beginning.
The OP makes a very good point about having a disability that affects their gameplay.
It amazes me how ignorant so many of these posts are.
it's not a L2P or "just toggle to walk" issue... It's a disabled person trying to play a game and requesting a little quality of life toggle.

I suggested this solution several times:

All weapons and magical abilities are disabled when entering the main towns in each zone; the only exception is when you enter combat through stealing or questing. Think of it as a magical ward that protects the town.

    It's that simple.

The OP's original suggestion of some sort of toggle would be good for both sides if it could be implemented. I just hope that a toggle of this sort would not affect all received buffs.

If it did affect all received buffs, switching it on & off all the time would be quite annoying. I stay in final vampire stage because I got sick of switching auto attack npc on & off when I wanted to bite a npc.

I like to bumble along at my own speed, then along comes someone casting the buff, whooosh, I end up with face meeting wall because I've suddenly gone from 'bumbling' to high speed! I like my own speed as my hands are partially disabled and I can't always react quickly enough to stop the 'wall in face' scenario!

What I am asking for here, is not to take away the ability for people to cast this in towns, but for something *I* can use, either a toggleable ward I can switch on for bumbling through towns, or a dispel, or something. Anything that would stop this being applied to my character. What is the great flaming hurry, anyway?

Just please let me have my slow speed just as they have their zipping about. Let us have the choice for it to be applied or not. As we ALL want, not just those casting the thing.

while i dont think its that necessary. I have a simple change. make rapid maneuver a buff for you but a synergy for those around you to get the same buff. your welcome =)
