Should Imperial City have an option to turn off PVP so PVEers can enjoy the content?

    No!

Its designed a certain way to be a bit of both....

There are pure PvE parts (New dungeons) if you really hate the PvP side.

Why try & change it into something its not meant to be?

It's an update for people who like both so leave it to do what its meant to....

You do realize how hilariously silly that is? The only way to get something similar is campaign with that turned off for all - which ofc will make it crowded 24/7 with 3 h queue.

Say i really, really hate PvP for argument sake, can I actually get into the IC and then into the PvE area without touching the PvP at all? Not on about lucking out like you have to be doing the other PvE quests in Cyrodill, but actually get to the PvE without any hassle whatsoever?

The content is ultimately for PVP. Should other PVE focused content have a option to turn PVP on in those areas so PVPers can enjoy the content?

No. Things about IC (and the build meta it will inspire) are going to be frustrating for some, even for some hardcore pvp'ers. But was always meant to be a pvp DLC, and should remain thus. PVE has the entire rest of the game, and all planned future DLCs. Cyrodiil (including IC) is the only thing that's not configured for PVE'ers. Nobody will get my sympathy by complaining about the one part of the game that's not about them.

    No - definitely no

I'm a PvE'er and I like the fear of PvPish gameplay. I have done alot of content in Cyrodiil and although it can come with a bit of cursing, I remember the moments where I alsmost finished a Dolmen or a boss and suddenly an EP of AD turns up and finishes me off. That's part of the game and the fact that I remember these moments means it's important to me to keep the tension up and the interest in the game going.

If it were up to me, I would change the entire PvE areas into flagged PvP zones ... I have played MMOs that got this mechanic perfect. If people attack another player, they are automatically flagged as PvP for say 20 minutes. A person who is unflagged cannot be attacked. Works perfect and I don't understand why this mechanic is not in the game yet. I hope it does come in the form of Justice V2.

IC is developed as a PvP zone with PvE goals. Changing that to full PvE would be simply boring.

I think some of the PvE crowd would enjoy a PvE Cyrodil with IC BUT....the access to the content via PvE makes the PvP side kinda pointless.

I'm a mainly PvE player, and I'm not all that fond of PvP, but I've tested it out on the PTS and it's really not as bad as it sounds. Yes, it will be harder if you are mainly a solo PvE player, but if you group up you can enjoy most, if not all, of the content that the Imperial City has to offer.

Zenimax has recently made it more attractive to PvE players. You no longer lose 100% of your Tel Var stones if you get killed by a player. It has been reduced to 75% or 80%, which is still quite a bit, but at least you don't lose everything. They also changed the requirement on the minimum number of Tel Var stones you can bank. Before the change you couldn't bank less than 50 stones, now you can bank your Tel Var stones no matter how few you have. So, if you are solo or are wary of venturing out very far, just pop your head into the sewers for a few minutes, kill a few NPC's and get some stones, then hurry back and bank them. Rinse, repeat.

Also, once you discover the new PvE dungeons (White Gold Tower and Imperial Prison) you can teleport there directly without having to enter the Imperial City or do any type of PvP to enter it.

And for the truly paranoid, if you have managed to gather quite a few Tel Var stones and are quite a ways from your base and you don't want to risk losing them, you can use a combination of Spell Symmetry and Potion of Ravage Health to suicide yourself and get teleported back to your home base.

Depends quite a bit on what you mean by practical. If you're thinking from a game resources standpoint, they certainly could do it. Have different instances of IC based on alliance to handle the server load better and it would work the same way as any other PVE zone of the game does.

However, I think it would be a slap in the face to the PvP crowd and it might not be practical from a marketing standpoint. Same argument against doing the same thing for all of Cyrodil: You artificially deflate the PvP population when you give people this option. Huge disincentive for people to play PvP.

to just play in on what you say

imagine if that would be the case. the game could really be about war. EP raiding Bangkorai. or AD raiding Deshaan. etc.
and if they make the pvp-flagged zones ever evolving into other zones, it would take the fun throughout the hole game,. if only

Actually, I'd like to see pure PVP dedicated servers so we can choose to PVP in other areas than Cyrodiil.

No. I may be a PvE player, but I realize that Cyrodil was intentionally designed as a PvP centric zone. Even the PvE portions of Cyrodil were designed to have some element of PvP danger.

@Surragard The statement was purposely made ambiguous for the very reasons you yourself have given. In an ideal world, yeah I'd love the IC to have the option for PvE only, but I also realise this game isn't all about me.

If Orsinium comes with PvP content then that's fine, it will have PvP, but if it comes only with PvE content then that is quite a different situation to a DLC like Imperial City that has PvE content but locks it behind PvP.

I'd personally much prefer separate servers that operated open world PvP in all zones with the main servers offering consensual PvP in all zones. The megaserver concept has a lot to answer for!

    No. Just no.

Imperial City is right in the centre of a PVP zone! Why should you be able to turn off PVP?

So by that extension, should you be able to turn PVP off for the whole of Cyrodiil? There is one PVP zone. Remind me how many PVE zones there are again?

And I say this as someone who loves PVE and isn't the best PVP'er. Schtaaaaap trying to make Cyrodiil into another PVE zone. And Imperial City. Dive in or duck out.

You're being overly dramatic with your questions. Like you're aiming it towards people who are being equally dramatic from the PvE camp. You're basically having an argument in an empty house. Because as far as I can tell, no one in this thread is actually demanding that we should have the option to make it PvE only. Not even the OP is stating that.

If anything, we're coming down on your side of the argument.
