WHY no CP CAP yet? The gap creates great imbalance in the game PvP+PvE, more and more quit the game

No cap. They earned their CP. If you ground it out you should be able to use it. Otherwise what's the point if the actual focus is CP once you've done everything you care to in between content releases. I hate grinding, but if I want more cp than the next person I have to pay the price for it. If you run up on someone with 3x your CP amount in PVP and they're beating you up you probably should go pick on someone with less CP than you. Common sense would dictate you leave the CP behemoths alone unless of course you're a behemoth yourself.

It would be sensible to cap at 900 due to the individual points allocation cap and the number of sub-constellations people might want too max out an ability on.

Put in triple rate gain for the first 300, double for the second 300 and normal for the third 300 and that would certainly help improve the current situation.

It's interesting so many people are against a cap. If there are really so few people with high cp, why do you care. You're not reaching the cap? Fine - then play on. All it does is making Leaderboard Competition somehow meaningful again.

ZOS said you can keep grinding when you reached the cap, you just cant spend it for this season. It's awesome for grinders as well. They can go on a vacation for a season and when they are back, they are still fine because they already achieved the cap for the next Season as well.

I think the amount of people that got frustrated because of the CP System and have quit because of that is WAAY higher than those 50 people worldwide that would actually be "hurt" by the Cap System.
Jeckll has quit the game. Thanks for the great time.

i agree with the essence of what you're saying, but I think your title ruins this thread.

first of all, it gives the impression that it's mainly a pvp issue.
secondly, a cap is pretty boring. I'd still advocate a rolling average - the further above the average you are, the less XP you get from mobs (maybe down to 1% if you're like 400points above the average), the further you are below the average, the more XP you get.

That way, people would still feel rewarded for playing and grinding cold still be a thing. But the pulling ahead too far wouldn't be an issue anymore

This right here demonstrates perfectly why CP is screwed up. People already have 1600 CP, ok?

Talking about diminishing returns doesn't make any sense into you get way above 1000.

Not true. When the Champion system was being tested on the PTS last January/February and everyone had all 3.6k CPs available, you could solo vDSA with crappy template gear. CP does affect PvE balance quite a lot.

That's awesome though... a reason for frustrated solo players (like me) to keep playing!

Once you are VR1 you begin gaining CP. The only thing stopping people from gaining CP is themselves. The same goes for leveling, PvP rank grinding, etc. All of you need to stop whining. Not once have I died because someone had too much CP or I too little...

This is the same mentality of those inept sluggards who refuse to level past vr1 and want the rest of the 13 levels handed to them while bitching about how unfair things are. Regarding PvP, CPs, etc, everyone acts so limpwristed, soggy, and entitled. It blows my mind.

Not a single one of you is prohibited from grinding CP. The person that goes out there and grinds CP does only that. He doesn't PvP, he doesn't raid, he grinds. Meanwhile whiny people cry about how unfair it is that someone puts out effort to reach a goal. These same whining people also like to skip over the fact that ZOS themselves said they are putting in a mechanism to help people catch up in the near future. Instead, these whining crybabies keep circling and mentioning bs hypothesis about potential unfairness and mythical people that have 1600+ CP that are commonplace. Sorry, but this doesn't work for me. This participation medal mentality needs to go, it's pathetic.

I've said it before, and I'll say it a thousand times if I have to until someone listens.

Capping CP is not the solution.

No matter how low they set the cap, there will always be people well below it getting crushed in PvP and complaining about it (regardless of whether the CP difference was the actual cause of them getting crushed).

And no matter how high they set the cap, the hardcore grinders are going to get annoyed that they can't progress their CP once they hit it.

Also, what happens to the people that are already over the cap, when the cap is implemented? Where do their extra CP go? They can't go to the void, or there will be infinite raging. They could be "locked", I suppose, but that just means that when the cap is next raised, they'll instantly be at it.

Once again, CP imbalance is only a problem in PvP (and before anyone says it, PvE leaderboards are totally a "LOL" reason to want a cap). Just make all PvP campaigns "zero-CP" (or "battle level" everyone to 1200 CP or something), and leave the rest of the game alone! Problem solved, without the need for any stupid global CP caps.

Yeah I really think their should be some Equalized champ points PvP campaigns, unless ZOS don't like people being interested at buying ESO. I strongly believe having a Equalized Champ-point campaign or two who do amazingly to promote new players to buy and add to our community. Remember without new blood joining this game will die sooner then later. Then you can have the PvP campaign that are here today stay the same, for the the grinders who have more champ points then they know what to do with. This a theory in which everyone wins and ZOS gets more new players to buy and support their game, and we get more people to play with and not get bored. Six of my friends alone already quitted this game because of this very issue and one more on the way out the door. I truly think that if there was one or two Equalized PvP campaigns that they would still be playing till this day and beyond. Sorry for the rant but I couldn't help myself. Good day all.

So what? Are you recommending that everyone that has a family, job or two, or other IRL issues to stop playing the the game and to those who have not pick up the game yet to not even try unless they like being stomped on. There is another solution that most of the people who don't fall under stated categories would hate yet would also work. Why not have ZOS flat out sell champ point packages on the crown store. That way both groups can be competitive and nothing is handed to either.

I respect those that want to run with their earned CP, I just don't want to deal with it.

The solution has already been suggested and confirmed by ZOS. There will be campaigns with NO CP (non-vet I hope). However how long this will take is anyone's guess.

Are you seriously hitting me with that hypothesis?
For the record if you need so much time outside a game where you can't play it to it's full potential you either shouldn't be gaming in the first place or suck it up and do what you can. Where do you draw the line? What about gamers who have one arm? Should ZOS make changes to combat so they can compete at higher levels? After all, it's not fair that a player with one arm be outplayed because he is missing an appendage... right?

Also show me one example where you are losing a fight because of CP. Just one. I pvp AND DIE all the damn time and I can't make that claim.

At the end of the day, people need something to whine about, something to blame. When you play the unfair card it gives you special victim status and removes your poor decisions, ignorance or laziness from the equation. When it's not "nerf dks" it's "nerf DK vamps" then it's "nerf vamps" then its "nerf dk vamp emps" then it's "nerf bolt escape" then it's "nerf shields" then it's "nerf NBs" then it's "nerf cloak" then it's "Nerf CP" then its "nerf animation cancelling" then it's "omg macro users killed me" then it's "nerf sneak attack"... So are you saying that Math is nothing. And that math is imaginary. All those percent's and higher numbers mean nothing to damage healing and resists, right? Sorry man or girl but the with the way of the times more and more people have to work more to support their living leaving not much time for gaming but at the same time loves to game, but also at the same time don't want to be subject "X's" pin cushion. But you inadvertently answered my question above this post that I've posted. In the end if their is no balance then this game will find it's self drawing in less and less money till Dev's will either have to go "full fledge P2W" to keep servers going or just cut cost and shut down the servers altogether. I bet you would cringe at either of those happening.

Instead of flaming, how about you give some solutions that would realistically apply to the changing of the ages? Cause what I am hearing from you is that only rich people should have fun playing and enjoying games everybody else should just stop trying and do something else. If this is indeed what you are saying then do you think that most rich people would be bother by this game, or getting that next business deal while in the middle of the ocean in their yacht surrounded by very fine and attractive women or men depending on gender? I sure don't.

So many people already have more than 500 cps, I know of a few AD players on my server with more than 800, I have even duelled one too. You know the person has a lot of CP when they can tear you a part with shield bashes that do 4-5k unblocked, LOL!

Seriously though, the game needs a cap, 800 at Orsinium (if this is even true) I personally think is too high, I'd lock it at 600. You have to consider that most people don't have over 350, heck a lot of the people in my guild haven't passed 300 even, which I only just passed recently (and I play every day..).

We don't all do content that rewards copious amounts of exp, like grinding vDSA 10 times a day for a better score or killing the same spawns in vr10 zones repeatedly for hours.

While the CP imbalance in PvP will diminish with the arrival of the Imperial City, the PvE leaderboard imbalances won't, especially not for the 4man stuff where every person matters and if all four people have 600+ cps when most opponents don't then that gives you a seemingly unfair advantage just because you grind more, not specifically because of skill.

The Champion point system is in some ways a clever way to add meaningful progression, it is also a way to add horrible imbalances when the system can be brutally exploited via people grinding day and night. EXP pots certainly didn't help, lol.

This *** gets old... quick and it never changes. There is always something.[/quote]

OMG. You're my hero. Can u sign and send something to me ? ;)

threads like these are making me sick. i agree that we need cp cap asap a and pvp balance is messed, but cps are not the only cause of imbalance. its only that most visible. I agree with xael, that unslotting most cps dont hurt him much, problem is at too many layers of pve farm and grind behind be stronger at pvp. It hurt new players at pvp most. So xael, please, unslot all of your gear and slot purple crafted set and green jewelry, we will see then

So because you are so L33t you can overcome anyone regardless of CP..... the champion system is fine for everyone else too ?
    Awesome logic ;)

We need to jack in our jobs and grind 24/7 or pay people to use our accounts for us instead.
    Yeah... we get that too.

You're doing something wrong if you're not gaining 1/3/X CPs per day regardless of your job, family, living your life not playing a game. Doing it wrong, (wo)man!!

    Yeah... we get that too.

Where did I say I was "L33t and can overcome anyone regardless of CP"? Awesome logic? You reek of desperation.

Does your game not work? When you log on, are you not gaining CP or experience toward CP? Strange, you might want to open a ticket. As I mentioned in the post you quoted from, anyone VR1 and up gains CP.

You need to "jack in our jobs and grind 24/7 or pay people"? I assume by "jack" you mean "quit?" I don't sit in front of the computer all day playing video games and I certainly don't have a hard time gaining CP. What's your excuse? No, you would rather log on the forum and whine about alleged unfairness and hold your hand out for that which you feel entitled. Should people not be able to play the game while you are at work or doing whatever it is while you are not in game? What about leveling? What about PvP? Should we all wait on you so we don't get ahead? Pathetic...

Show me one example where PvP is imbalanced do to someone having CP. Name one person that is notorious throughout Cyrodiil who is killing tons of people because of his awesome CP pool. You can't. However I bet any of you, the moment someone announces they have a ton of CP (1k+) and they kill anyone at all, the first damn thing said is going to be "OP because of CP." No matter how bad of a player, no matter how lazy, no matter the variable, it will be because of CP.

Sorry Vincent I don't agree with you about the "stronger at pvp" due to CP vs someone that doesn't have them. I have already demonstrated several times I can do just fine without them. A skilled player is going to play well regardless, unless zerged, lagged, or bugged or some overpowered exploit. New players are going to die regardless of CP. Before CP was even thought about, back in April, I was crapping all over tons of people in Cyrodiil. I came from a PvP background and I had several months of beta under my belt. This was back before ZOS began putting "training wheels" on this game. You didn't have CC immunity automatically after being CC'd. You didn't have a non vet campaign with super stats and damage reduction. You had level 10s running with vr10s. Before any of you are tempted to make some TTK strawman, I was 1-2 shotting with ease from March-October. It was little different than now. Vince why would I unslot my gear and change it out? I earned my gear and I am a veteran player. Am I supposed to feel some sort of sympathy and change my playstyle because other people are not successful? I don't understand this reasoning at all. It's neither here nor there...
I got killed in pvp, nerf everything...
