My initial thoughts on the PTS

I downloaded the PTS, read through the PTS forum notes, and then jumped in.
I made a vr16 Templar Healer/DPS (a class/role I know very well).
I quickly grabbed the daily dungeon pledges but no one was in the zone to run them with me.

I finally joined a PvP campaign and went to the Cyrodiil and made my way to the Imperial City.
I explored the small Daggerfall Covenant base, saw the crafting stations, saw the TV stone vendors (some items weren't as expensive as I was thinking).
I took a quest and made my way deeper into the sewer. I came across a room filled with bad guys.
I thought they were DC people at first (because they are so close to the DC base) so I just ran in.
I quickly ran back and 3 bad guys followed me.

Now, at this point, let me say that on my VR14 Templar, I solo Dolmens and Anomalies. I don't even think twice before jumping into a mob of baddies.
I made sure my DPS bars were the same as they were on the live server, and checked to make sure I allocated my attributes and champion points.

But these 3 guys tore into me hard. I tried again and same result.

So I went back to the DC base and logged out.

Logged onto the live server, talked to a guildie and he said he enjoyed the new content and sewers.
I asked if it was very similar to craglorn - as in, no solo content. He said yeah, you needed as least 4 people to just enter them (apparently I hadn't even entered the sewers themselves).

This greatly saddens me.

Every now and then I try Craglorn but the baddies are just too powerful. They hit hard. Very hard. And there are many of them.
I only have a handful of sky shards from Craglorn because of this.
I've joined groups (that always start with the dungeons that I have the shards from) then they quit.

I'm not saying I'm quitting ESO, just saying that I'll get my Templar to VR16 by finishing Cadwell's gold quest line and then see what happens.

I'll try again when it goes live, but it just left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Anyone else have similar impressions?

PS: No, I don't enjoy PvP.

Man i have several friends who don't like pvping: I like roaming with them.
Imo you just need 3-4 friends to help you out through the sewers, having you as dedicated healer.

    PS:
    I didn't enjoy Craglorn too. (I have 3 Templar)

Sry this is a L2P. I mean, if you dont have the skill to kill a few normal+elite mob in IC, then just group. Its not imposible at all, bursty builds, dps builds, tanky builds, support builds, you can kill them with any class and any "decent" build.

So is just matter of player skill.

I think it has a nice difficulty.

    Have a good day sir.

I disagree. It's not a L2P issue when your damage is reduced by 50% being in IC where as the mobs hit for full strength. 3 mobs in IC hit harder than the Atronach elites in Craglorn. They wreck solo players regardless of build unless you've got a ton of CP. I'm sitting at 180 CP and don't do enough damage to them at all to be able to solo. I'm sure there are a ton of others out there who've had the same issue.

IC really is "group" content IMO. You won't be able to get far in it without a group. Don't try and sneak in to get to a crafting station all by yourself as you'll just be destroyed. If it's not the hard hitting NPC's, there will be a ton of zergs in there looking for TV stones.

Mobs in IC are perfectly balanced.

Normal mob packs + Elites are soloable, but actually require you to dodge, block, interrupt & so on. You can't just run in & Steel Tornado everything down in 3 seconds - I love it.

Sweepers (big boss mobs) are very tough and you'll have hard time soloing them (I find them more difficult than bosses in vet dungeons). - Again, I love that content isn't just a "faceroll spam steel tornado win next pack xp xp"

If you can't solo anything in IC, then may I suggest you find a friend or two to do the content with, rather than demand it to be nerfed down to your level, making it boring for everyone else?

From what I read in this thread.... no one requested or demanded any changes resulting in a nerf of the IC mobs......

The issue is that because of the damage reduction, your normal non cookie cutter builds will no longer be viable as they are now even weaker than before. This is very sad. With that being said, I enjoy the difficulty of it. The thing I dont like is the game is now cookie cutter or go pve.

At the beginning I hated IC DLC, after second patch on PTS I started to like it. Now...I'm absolutely sure I won't buy this DLC.

So you went from hating and did a 180 to liking it back to a 180 and hate it now? Are you a solo player or grouper? What about the latest patch has you hating things?

I haven't tested much at all on the PTS. At first I was all gung *** about getting on there but it all seemed like one big endless pvp battle in one of the districts. I have limited time and when I log on are pretty much at peak times so it was always like that. I eventually gave up on testing it. I may log back in to check on the current state of it but if I don't make it back, I won't lose any sleep over it.

I plan on running it with my main PVP guild to so I'd imagine there will be plenty of zerg fest going on when it goes live....

The mobs seem ok good balance, some animations are wonky and take getting used to WB with HA is one that comes to mind. Grouping is key. It can be done solo but you need to keep your Situational Awareness (SA) up. Try pulling one at a time until you get a feel for their mechanics. Its not as bad as it seems it is different though. But its a clean sewer as you are not getting dookie debuffs for stepping on or dodge rolling into dookies.

After reading much of the PTS forums i jumped in PTS with a copy of my character from live (V14 Imperial Templar Tank) and went to the imperial city expecting to find someone to pug or i would be destroyed in it, went to the sewers, everything except from the big bosses i soloed easy, went to all districts and again everything except the big bosses i could easly solo, found the balance to be very good and i'm having a blast in, just did the introduction quest so i can't comment on the quest's balance (i'm saving the quests for the live server)

Mobs take full damage in the IC. The sewers can be challenging, but are more than solo-able.

Pretty much what I've seen as well. It's relatively easy to solo and much easier than my normal 1vX/2vX in Cyrodiil once you learn that you can't permaroll/permablock.

I logged on today and climbed a ladder to a populated area - lots of players from all the factions.
But once again, it's 1000000000000000% pvp.
Absolutely no fun just giving what few TV stones I managed to pick up to other players.

There was a quest giver at the door but no way in hell could I even begin thinking about doing it with the roaming packs of gankers, not to mention the people perched up high and sniping people.

You guys have fun with it. Time to read more books or catch up on some other activities.

I'm giving it a miss for 4-6 months and see how things go. Maybe the next DLC will be more geared towards PvE.
