The content is awesome. The PvP may taking getting use to for others, but once everyone has the hang of it, it's quite fun. It made me SUPER mad at first, but I started to learn what to do and not to do. I like to go to the Memorial District and find some rivals :). You get killed, sure u lose TS, but you rez right back up top and then jump down again and go get revenge..... Of course I wouldn't personally advise taking on the entire AD, EP, and Daedra by yourselves.... your not gods haha

Oh man I'm having a blast over there, it's crazy.

There's still one thing I'm worried about though, it's the zerging inside the sewers. Happened few times that I'm taking on one of those heavy bosses with some friends and right when he is about to die a zerg unstealths, kills us and takes our kill. Well I kinda see the point in it, but you'll lose all your stones which can be quite frustrating.

And yeah that can happen, but man if a zerg just going to the sewers to grind there, there's really no fun it anymore. I also don't want to see people sticking in the first room only to acquire some stones, because going further would practically mean losing all of them.

This is my only concern I had with IC, apart from that it's a masterpiece and will make ESO a lot more valuable.

Yes IC is so much fun with:

    - pvp exploits
    - gank stalkers who wait untill you attack PVE monsters so they can snipe you and backstab you while PVE monsters ignore them complety
    - people who steal all your stones just because 90% of the damage was done by PVE monster but they poked you just for 10% and it still counts as "death by player"
    - cowards who will lure all monsters on you, dissapear and come back when every monster grabbed aggro on you
    - zerging
    - your own faction players who will rather have someone kill you, instead of helping you, so when they kill your killer, they get both yours and his stones

So much fun, such healthy community, all the joy in the world around new Gank City DLC, the paradise of harassment.

Not to mention IC is basically just another PVE area, with absolutely no PVP specific mechanics and only "enabled PVP". No district control, no CTF, no KOH or other PVP teamplay activities. Just brainless "DPS sees, DPS kills".

All that because someone at ZOS had a dream, a dream where everyone do PVP, so in order to make it happen they created a zone with PVP enable, but in order to bring everyone there, they filled it with PVE content only Because apparently PVPers love the "challenge" of killing someone who is talking to NPC, doing PVE quest, or minding their own business killing mobs.

PVE content for PVPers? I see invalid argument here.

    IC design process:
Create PVE zone, add PVE monsters, add PVE exps, add PVE dungeons, add new PVE lvls, add exclusive PVE materials .................................... do not absolutely any PVP game mechanics like "district control, "CTF", "KOH" and other PVP team-play activities ......................................... flip a switch that unlocks killing other players and single-handedly declare new zone a "PVP" area.

That is PvE with player invasions. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. So much fun, and pain.

It is like buying Battlefield only for the singleplayer campaign. I just don't get the mindset, all the fun they are missing on facing real people. Most Battlefield players would love for them to get rid and concentrate only on MP.

This is exactly what will happen to PVE'ers who try to get into IC. Those who are still subbed will try it once and be done with it. Word of mouth will spread like wild fire through out PVE land and the DLC Sales for it will be minimal at best.

Things like District Control and requiring holding certain keeps would actually make IC more PvE friendly by limiting access to opposing factions (thus reducing number of gankers), while also keeping the larger-scale Cyrodiil fighting relevant. The design of IC (and many other parts of ESO) is based off of the Darkness Falls dungeon from the older MMO Dark Age of Camelot, which offered difficult boss encounters and highly sought after loot rewards from a dungeon shared between the 3 realms but could only be accessed by the one realm that held a certain number of keeps. The idea is to link PvE and PvP, while making each more interesting. As much as you may not like it, PvE and PvP are two sides of the same coin in this game, and trying to forcibly split them would be like trying to take the egg out of a cake once it is baked. It's just not what ESO is about.

This. Dark Souls to Bloodborne and games ,like that , and also mmorpg's for me that have mixed PVE and PVP makes it much more enjoyable.

The Zek servers on EQ were x1000 more fun because you may have had the Ai encounter figured out , but you never knew if your group was about to get jumped by a single player taking out your healer or a group taking on your group. The unknown makes PVE much more fun for me. Or if Fansy the Bard was going to train 10 Hill Giants onto you and your group :)

Fine for those who choose to do zero PVP , everyone has their likes and dislikes. But to imply because they don't like it most don't like it is ridiculous. Many get bored by PVE battles that cannot provide anything different once figured out. Having it mixed is great for for me.

This content is and always have been meant for PvP'rs. It's basically a PvP zone with PvE mobs in it, not a PvE zone with PvP enabled.

It's the Imperial City, the very reason we PvP. The frustration you have is because you're a PvE'r, don't be so harsh about it now. It was about time PvP'rs finally got something.

Just remember, it's a PvP zone, a warzone. Don't prepare yourself for hte NPC's but the enemy players. It's a great experience.

My forays into PTS did not go so great, the last trip *sneak* broke, everything else worked but sneak...wth is that?

I am happy PVP players are getting something. I am not happy they tied in new gear/levels/anything PVE to it and will be saving my crowns still until the new PVE zone is released. Hopefully Orsinium will sell out IC 10/1 and they will see by the numbers where they should focus development money and stop with this horribad PVP/PVE marriage.

I am looking forward to all the "nerf xxx" threads when gen pop gets ahold of IC :p

Odd, I was excited for IC before it appeared on PTS. I went there when it first appeared on PTS and it made me very sad because they made this for hardcore people and I'm not sure this content is for me. My mid VR level DK left with ZERO TV stones after a couple of hours of play.

The mobs hit waaaay too hard and I really don't like how difficult it is to leave IC.

Same here. Add to that making ap practicly worthless along with many sets, and with todays announcement about IC (free for all) it will make the objective mass pvp useless ... well i dont think i will be paying for that. Lets wait and see how it will pan out.

I'd genuinely like to know what your ideal style of PvP is if you truly believe these things to be "harassment".

I see griefing, harassing, etc all used in conjunction with "ganking" from players that despise PvP. I don't understand it.

I just really want to know what your acceptable PvP setting is. Is it head on 1v1 duels? Is that the only thing that works for people like this?

Seems like poop. 50% damage reduction ok, I can see MAYBE 25%. Why the hell should a fight last minutes?! I either get trucked down or truck someone down within a matter of seconds, depending on the rotation and situation. The roll increase to 33% after each roll is STUPID. people who spam it don't bother me any, I have plenty of filler skills to use until they burn their stamina out and still able to keep good damage while they roll like GTA V modders. This is like schools where they give last place a trophy. We really need to make it so bad players don't actually have to learn to play but just go all in. I like being able to counter attacks when I'm jumped by 3-5 stealthies. Not roll twice and die because I can't dodge anything. Same for the Stam tegen during blocks. Block all you want bro, we have knock backs, aoe..ect that still cause damage. MAYBE make a PVP ONLY debuff for Stam rolling maybe 15% increase and 25% decrease in Stam regen during blocking. Learn to play the game how it is, it's sinple. Sorry it might take just a little brain power to function in PVP, it will be nothing but *** friendly in IC.

For anyone who is worried about Imperial City reading this thread... Go and play it on the PTS, sooth your fears!

@sadownik what announcement? Tag me in your reply, I am not gonna remember this thread let alone refresh it waiting :P

@sadownik They announced earlier that when IC is released that everyone will have access to the city that purchases the DLC or has ESO Plus. They aren't going to "gate" it with required keep access yet.

    Agree.

People complaining about being "ganked" , zerged , "unfairly rolled" while engaged in a fight with something else etc amuse me. It would be the equivalent of complaining in PVE about a mob joining in while you were already fighting with another , multiple mobs aggroing on at the same time , or a mob using it's special abilities to stun you then kill you.

1 on 1 sanitized dueling to me is practice time at best , PVP is enjoyable for me in the open world environment for the unkwown factor.

There is nothing "unfair" in PVP battles. You try and kill them first , however you can , period.

    exploits

Metagaming in ESO has always been about using exploits; Sharpened, Nirnhoned, Champion Point passive 'Last Stand' for constant ultimate generation, Expert Hunter, Undodgable abilities and more.

It's how videogames have always been and always will be.

I just really want to know what your acceptable PvP setting is. Is it head on 1v1 duels? Is that the only thing that works for people like this?

I can't speak for what constitutes griefing and harassment for others but I tend to define it as behaviour counter the game's aim. For example, ganking someone from stealth isn't griefing, but ganking someone just coming out of a door and not able to fight back is. The line between tactics and grief is a very thin one which is why the burden is usually on the devs to code out the obvious exploits, such as they shouldn't be granting any TV stones to players who only do 10% of the damage because they let a boss burn the player down before engaging.

For me personally, the biggest issue that I have with IC is that they created a mechanic that by it's nature rewards people who play extremely dirty. It's a legit style, but when the only worthwhile content for ANY of us is PvP centric and unforgiving to boot you are introducing players who aren't great with PvP to PvP by showing them the absolute worst aspect of it.

I don't think players really need much incentive to go after each other, if the learning curve for the PvP in IC wasn't so painful you could very well see newcomers trying to get into it. When you put a material on the line that is needed for progression you won't get much experimentation, these players who hate PvP will simply go to a dominate campaign and take advantage of every other loophole they can to maximize their stone output. Which then leaves most of the hardcore PvPing to the PvPers who, chances are, won't be spending as much time gathering stones so then what's the point in the drop rate in the first place?

If they had made districts controllable vying outside keep control, placed some PvE in the outer districts which weren't PvP and then setup the middle of the city as a massive battle with capture points and other mechanics I would have happily purchased the DLC. As it stands I prefer my PvP and PvE remain separate, but to each their own. All we can do is vote with our dollars, no point dividing ourselves into new factions.
