Can anyone tell me if this is still a viable magicka based PvE leveling build for PS4 or should i be looking for something else?

It was a 1.6 build so yes still viable, might not be after the Imperial patch though.

It will be stronger after IC drops. I'm pretty sure he recently did unpdate to the build on pts

I'm sorry, but I could swear I saw LOTUS FAN in that build. NO, just NO.

    LOTUS FAN.... LOL.

Im guessing its not for damage rather for the snare it gives and also a gap closer all in one. The snare will help with controlling the mobs though its not useful for bosses though.

He uses Lotus Fan in his low level portion of the guide, to show how he can help in group PVP. He later drops it.

Isn't Lotus Fan getting a straight-up DPS boost when Imperial City goes live?

I could be having a brain fart, but I swear I read this somewhere...

The Umbra build is what I'll be basing my magicka Nightblade off of. There is controversy among PTS theorycrafters as to whether Lotus Fan will be worth the skill point or if magicka nightblades will just continue to use Teleporting Strike un-morphed. Realistically, Teleporting Strike and it's morphs are not really useful once Concealed Weapon is obtained. Bring able to basically sprint while cloaked makes closing gaps easy.

I was thinking about using Ambush as a gap closer even in a magi NB. That empower buff is always useful
Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign
    In the wrong house
    With the wrong ascendancy
    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

It is viable but a little too PVP oriented. I went DW/resto instead but generally speaking its a strong build -- just needs some mod for PVE.

As for the gap closer, I wonder if you actually need one with a magicka NB, eg siphon focus.

Even as a vamp I can solo group challenges in public dungeons with a build similar to this. Its not designed for high dps but survival is easy with cloak + conceiled.

He did iirc, but I think its the PVP version, eg sword/board and resto.

That is fine for a while until you get the mage guild passive called "Might of the Guild", which grants Empower after any mage guild skill is cast. Then the only thing that Ambush has to offer is a short stun, which can be obtained from several other weapon lines and/or nightblade skills.

He has a section on the build page that goes over PVE skills and gear.

And a gap closer is great for the first few levels until you get Concealed Weapon, which boosts stealth speed enough to make a gap closer feel like a waste of a skill slot.

Saying that you can solo group challenges isn't a good metric for measuring the viability of builds, considering how easy it is to do the group challenges (source: I solo'd every single group challenge minus the Alik'r public dungeon one on my minimally optimized sorcerer as I went through each region).

I looked at the site and it said coming soon for end game PVE. If you have a link to the final version do you mind posting? Thanks.

I agree; I just whipped out my glovebox calculator and it looks like leaving Teleport Strike unmorphed is still the way to go.

At VR13, my GROSSLY unoptimized build basically loses 518 damage by using the Empower buff from Ambush for Concealed Weapon.

My apologies. I was thinking of another of his builds.

Still, it can be optimized without too much effort. I always use his guides as the basis for my builds, then I tweak them to my own person style of combat.

Wouldn`t the lotus fan aoe help with 2 piece armor procs ? since each mob hit would have a chance to proc. or not really ?

Pve is easy anyways, if you can do public dungeon group challenges by yourself the build is fine for pve. It has decent damage and the survivability is fine with cloak and healing ward, even as a vamp.

As a sorc you only need to slot hardened ward to survive pve so its not fair to compair that to an entire NB build imo.
