Why the rush to Veteran ranks?

MMO´s these days are build in such a way, that many feel that only max level content matters. This is then usually supported by the fact that only there you can gain specific perks, items or amounts of gold.

    ESO isn't any different there.

We can not gain CP´s, highend gear or huge amounts of gold & resources as a level 1-49. There is no treasure that might await us after a quest in the second zone or anything. Besides that, content updates (Craglorn) only aimed at max level players, so that some people might feel they miss out if not maxed out when it hits.

What we also have to factor in is, that anything you do below max level, seems like a non important story element. We don't suddenly get a house from an NPC, a house we might still live in at VR2. We also don't find a companion that joins us or gain reputation with factions & NPCs.

Its all about just getting it done, nothing really stays - items get swapped every few levels, NPC´s come and go - only a few stay for more than a zone, its kind of sad somehow.

As for me, I no longer rush anything in games - they can add as many Craglorns or CP systems as they want, I keep my pace and level slowly ;) Even if a bow I find is just like any other, I make it a special one, just for me and in my head :D

Personally I prefer NOT to rush but so many others do for various reasons. The fact of the matter is that for those that wish not to rush they are penalized by the fact the market and their own friends that did rush are all up in the Veteran Ranks which only pressures you into rushing as well to be able to do anything. Not only that but Zenimax themself seems to center everything worthwhile around the Veteran Ranks such as the new Psijic Ambrosia Recipe Fragments. Honestly this game doesn't give you much reason to stop and smell the flowers as you grow, it actually implores you to rush to Veteran Ranks which is actually lame.

I actually regret reaching VR with my Sorc. Non-vet Pvp is such a blast at any level while Vet pvp seems to only be entertaining for people at VR14 WITH a plethora of Champion Points.

Every day you are not a veteran is a day you are not earning Champion Points, high end gear and items worth a lot of gold such as purple motifs, reduced pvp effectiveness, access to vet content like vDungeons and vTrials and scores of other benefits and content.

you don't have to be vet rank to get purple motifs and epic gears. ive found atleast 1 motif countless of the enchanting pieces forget what they are called atm and 2 pieces of gear at lvl 37 all being epic :p

    Lovely, so?

Unfortunately, if you're interested in PvP, you need to be max level to attempt to be on equal footing. That doesn't include CPs which imbalances things even further than level and build.

Some people opt to continually reroll new characters to play nonvet PvP, but personally I think that's lame. That said, with IC coming, not sure how much better vet PvP will be.
