Why the rush to Veteran ranks?

Why is everyone in such a rush to get to Veteran levels? I'm seeing people doing it like 10-12 hours. I'm a PS4 player and there were already people at VR levels by the end of the first couple of days of launch. What's the fun in that? In my mind, one misses on the game as it was meant to be played. Why do a level 32 quest when you are sitting at VR-1? And not too mention that you probably got there by spamming mobs playing Blackwater Blade in the loot cave--in my mind that is awfully close to either an exploit or cheating, possibly both. It would seem that the "hardcore" gamers out there simply want to spend their lives playing these games to dominate PvP and monopolize the economy, therefore making it un-enjoyable for the casual gamers like myself who play maybe 4-5 hours a week. Again, what's the rush?

You sure they were not pc transfers?

Why do you care how people decide to play the game. I would imagine a lot of them are into PvP and just want to be able to do more at VR 14. Not everyone is here for questing.

In Guild Wars 2 I did not run one dungeon, I was in WvW the whole time.

Everyone is different, and it shouldn't affect you either way, unless they are turning you into a pile of ash in PvP in five seconds.

Prob an alt or they are hoping to catch up to a friend.
It could also be a situation where someone is drawn to a certain experience that's limited to late VR levels.

Who knows but I'm rushing my 6th chat to Vr1 now after having played 5 other toons through most or half of each faction. Two have done two entire factions quest by quest....it's boring after two times through considering alts are on a diff faction or were

This ^ and I have to say as someone who got vet 14 at the end of June I am still having a lot of fun. Collecting skyshards where I only have Craglorn left. their is a lot of stuff to do in this game so its hard to get bored. I have a vet 1 Templar alt working on two more alts because I like trying new things. Plus I hear vet levels are going to be easier in Update 7 thats why I level them to Vet 1.

Every day you are not a veteran is a day you are not earning Champion Points, high end gear and items worth a lot of gold such as purple motifs, reduced pvp effectiveness, access to vet content like vDungeons and vTrials and scores of other benefits and content.

Hit VR1 in 4 days, hit VR13 Ten days afterwards.

The only reason why I rushed levels is I hate crafting gear, then a day or so later, I'm already a higher level.

Part of the reason people rush to VR14 is because they like to PvP. At VR14 you get to use VR14 gear and hopefully you have around 300 cp. Anything less and you're just AP for someone else.

I personally don't rush to max out my character but it's a pretty common strategy for PvP players. You want the best gear before you jump in. When the game launched for PC there were not separate campaigns for veteran and non-veteran. You would just get stream rolled if you were a non-veteran.

    300 CP's on console...(unless you're a PC transfer) is a bit questionable.

Players, on average, only get 80-100 CP from VR1 to VR14. You'd have to be grinding non stop for days to have 300 CP that soon.

The problem is this is a game of two halfs

Your First Vet character takes time (took me months)
Your second takes a week of casual game play from 49-Vr14

Hence a lot of people taking on these kind of posts are coming from two totally different view points

Yup, im only on 300ish. That said I have not truly "ground much" (some periods of time, I was fanatical, but these were followed by days where my inspiration just stacked up, which kind of meant the all nighters were wasted)

Yes I agree, it certainly took awhile for my very first character to go through, explore and finish everything for his faction until VR1. My subsequent characters - the 3 that are also VR and also in the same faction - didn't take nearly as long as I was already familiar with everything. Even though their roles are all different; magicka sorc, stam DK and NB healer (main is a DK tank) it still didn't take long. I guess I should finish up my main and get him all the way to VR14...

If you are playing for the storyline and the world exploration adventurer feel there is no need to rush and those people dont. But the people you do see rushing vet levels are doing it for a reason, because they are playing this game for the Cyrodiil Alliance vs alliance seige warfare endgame. And to be able to compete on equal grounds you NEED to be max vet level.

    Yes.

    I agree.

This game is so good, I don't much see the point in blasting through content just to complain that you are bored.

The PvP and end game dungeons are not going any where.

And new content is coming soon so if newer players take their time with the core content then they will play right into the new stuff.

I hit VR14 as fast as I could to play "end game" content. Only to get to the point that the highest leveled friend I have is about VR6. So basically I've stopped playing and have moved on to Elite Dangerous, lol. Come back here every few days to see if anything is new.
