HAD PEOPLE BLOCKED BUT CAN STILL HEAR THEM NEED TEXT CHAT

i blocked someone on eso on ps4 cause they was insulting me and yet i still have to hear there mouth continue to insult me i'm so tired of hearing crap over area chat text chat needs added on console this is ridiculous that us people have to put up with this stuff while trying to play a game ADD TEXT CHAT or at least give us a reason why it can't be added already do you know ppl play this that are not in the best place in there life and hearing people on area chat just makes it worse especially for depressed people

If blocking doesn't work properly in voice chat it isn't going to work properly in text chat either. The Social system in TESO is completely flawed and needs fixing in almost every way.

Text chat is not going to remove voice chat.

Maybe so but seeing insults you can't block in text chat ain't as bad as hearing people in voice chat insult you

Context is key here because I have never been insulted over voice chat in this game on PC or PS4, so what were you doing to get insulted?

I highly doubt someone just came out and berated you out of the blue over voice coms.

Believe it or not people do just insult others for no reason in this case they did plus they was insulting others for no reason i didn't like what they was saying to me so i whent to block them and when i did i already had them blocked from some other time i guess i don't remember why but if the block i put on them before would have worked i Wouldn't of had to deal with this nonsense

If your on na server ps4 aldrmeri dominion go to rawl ka in reapers march over by the guild traders you will see whati'm talking about people are there trying to trade stuff and others come there just to start stuff and insult others it's ridiculous

Lol you must live in some fairy tale land then, because that happens all the time on this game. I got called a "f***ot" for just riding on my lioness mount.

I was just sitting on my mount and some dude just yells "Mr E is a f***ot, what kind of person spends money to ride a cat"

Insults like these are not rare on consoles.

No individual player mute feature
Glitched (like op said), so the only way to not hear them at all is to leave the channel completely.

Text chat:

This. With text chat I turn off all voice chat permanently , and those who don't like to type never once have to , and I at the same time never once have to hear them. I listen to the game and communicate with those in text chat who want to use that. I was in a guild in Final Fantasy XIV , a very large one , that did not use TS nor Vent. It was on purpose , it was mainly adults with kids and families who still wanted to be a part of a guild. Very enjoyable and friendly people and I got to listen to the game as it is without hearing the stupid crap I hear on voice. We did every dungeon that was done on voice. I just like the Elder Scrolls combat better and a few of us came over hoping to have the same thing here. I'm the only one left purely because no one is going to sit around and listen to that crap and not be able to talk. I fail to see how having the option for both to use however the player wants isn't a win for everyone.

No idea which console you're on, but on the xbone, it's possible to mute anyone. Just go into the interactive wheel and pick the "view gamercard" and select "mute player". Not sure if the same option is available on the PS4 though.

For the love of god just give these Console users text chat so they will finally shut up. The amount of creative excuses I've seen them come up with is ridiculous. If I see one more thread about it, I'm going to buy an Xbox, and buy another copy of ESO just so I can start abusing them with voice chat. By the way, using caps in your thread subject does not make it look important, it makes people care less about what you have to say.

Glad more of these are coming to light. Will be adding my own series this weekend , getting one of the girls in the guild from FF to ask questions around the town center and banks and recording the area chat. It wont be pleasant but will show what its like.

Meant to do it last week Cheese but couldn't due to family medical issues. Planning on it this weekend during prime time , like I said with friend from another guild to do the voice, I figure her asking a few normal questions in crowded areas should enough to get far worse than this video going in multiple places. Trying to get my PS4 streamed through my other PC so I can record it well instead of it being a shaky cam phone video. Should be amusing when I get them put together. Will put them here along with youtube and I have my own site can host them at to make sure and link them everywhere I can. I think it will be eye opening just how horrible it is for anyone on area voice chat .

If you don't want to hear anyone, create a PS4 party. It will block all of the chat in game. You can always join a guild if you want to interact with others. Hopefully, you find a good guild. I don't even want to try and put up with the loud morons in crowded areas. They are always loud.

So basically I have to communicate only with a guild an no one else. I don't play mmo's for a guild game , I play them to interact on a "massive" scale. I like talking , in text , to different people , lots of different people. Have for years on the PS2 , 3 , 4 in all the console mmo's I have played. Just sad to see this was a waste of money , even more irritated that Zenimax is failing so much on this issue.

I don't live in a fantasy world, I play a game in a fantasy world, but not live there.

That being said, I have never heard anyone randomly insult anyone in the game. I have heard people get into arguments and the random background noise/sound of eating is pretty annoying, but never what the OP is describing.

That also may be I generally don't like people and tend to interact with other like minded folks. The unwashed masses can have their area chat ;D
