It's strange how different the communities are on console compared to PC. The community on PC is intelligent, competitive and somewhat mature but when I go on console I feel transported back to Halo 3.

Read my share of conversations on pc that were far from mature. Thank goodness we do not have voice chat.
    Yet. I believe it's coming.

Still...just because it's available, will there be a mass migration away from text and other voice options?

    Is it really? Ugh :#

kids have a right to play, I get that....

That said, I prefer a mature group, not just for the discussions, but for the tactics... and recognition of 80's movie references.

    "shall we play a game?"

Im 16 so im not 100% sure but is that from war games?

I wonder if someone told the "music piracy police" that unlicensed playing of artists songs are happening, if anything could be done.

As in, make ZoS financially responsible for what they allow to be aired.
In the end, they'll remove voice chat.

Anyone else here have the unfortunate experience of listening to kids on voice chat? Thanks to poor parenting, this 17+ game is riddled with 12 and 13 year olds. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that - but the thing about kids is that a lot of them are constantly talking and the high pitched voice doesn't help. I've had to block quite a few in PVP after they refused to clear the chat when crown told them to. Why are they allowed to play when the game has a rating of mature?

    In my opinion.....
I find that the kids aren't the issues, it's the trolls/stubborn group leaders whom are in their mid 20's to 40's who "know everything" there is about an mmo apparently, are the major annoyance/frustration in this game.

Usually a kid has enough manners or lacks the social coincidence to demand things, usually a kid isn't experienced enough to lead a group of 24 in Cyrodiil either. So I highly doubt kids playing in ESO are a major issue.
I've seen kids get picked on just for being in voice chat. It's wrong.
My personal opinion, is that your attitude is one of the things that is an issue with this game. "That's a kid, they shouldn't be allowed!". Where's the sportsmanship? Wheres the role model in us to lead for those who follow?

There are players of all ages in ESO that are an extreme embarrassment to their age group, not just kids.
By default it seems there is this automatic wall of ignorance against them(kids) playing. Why? It's not your call to whether they can play or not. Don't be rude. And on top of that, they're your teammates! See where I'm going with this?

I've been in Cyrodiil almost everyday since the console release and saying kids are the issue is completely the opposite of the true issue.
It's this stubborn and ignorant(I'm right and you're wrong) attitude towards everyone else, this biased and obnoxious attitude to making the game how you want it and how people should be playing it, and that's it. (The ratio of obnoxious group leaders and players in voice chat outweighs the trolling kids by a significant amount)

I'm 28 years old, and would I let my 6 year old play this? Absolutely not, because he's 6. But am I really a bad parent to let my 13 or 15 year old play this? That's not your call and it has nothing to do with your issue, and it instigates your concern even more so by calling those parents, bad.

Nit picking/segregating/oppressing an entire age group of players isn't the way to go about these things.
Chances are that the players telling that kid to leave the voice chat were picking on him, yelling at him, calling him names and so on, so who's got the bad parents now? (You're telling me everyone was calm and collective towards him? Ha, not in Cyrodiil) And dictating who can stay in voice chat and who can't, shows me how it really went down. Nobody owns voice chat. Nobody. That's what groups are for, or group leaders can move away from the noise to communicate outside their groups as they usually do(Atleast the smart and productive ones). It's common sense.

I think this game could be teen rated, but since a lot of these players in Cyrodiil say F*CK every 3 seconds, it's definitely not what I recommend to teens. However, it's not your call nor mine.

If you want to make a change, I recommend guiding these "kids" on how to play the game, instead of shunning them out.

You can opt out of voice chat at any time.

    Stop the bullying, enough said.

Because you can reliably pick an age by voice ?
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

The absolute garbage said in area chat, while amusing to me most of the times, should not be something kids are exposed to. Especially when it gets creepy. If the kids were monitored, sure, whatever. Let them talk to people. But unmonitored chat? No way.

Let me guess, home schooled right? Anyone that spent time around his piers at 11 years old knows that game chat is like tea time with the queen compared to a group of 11 year old boys with no adults in ear shot.

I'm on the xbone. What's even more telling is some of these kids are up late. I'm not talking about 10pm or even 11pm, I'm talking about 2am. The other night there were 2 kids (one told another player he was 9 and he sounded it too) at 2.30am UK time. These were UK kids too, not American. Maybe the parents need to start taking responsibility. My 8 year old has a Wii U and does not get to go online. I've blocked the internet from the Wii U and the only time it gets connected is when I'm the one updating it. As for the time she spends on it, 2 hours at the very most, with a small break in-between. I can't imagine much changing between now and her being 10 or even 12.

I mean, imagine allowing your 9 year old kid to stay up till 2am with the ability to communicate in a game largely populated by adults. Especially when the kid was using kinect as a mic, so that was on too. Some parents shouldn't be in charge of a gold fish never mind a young child.

Yeah, like almost everyone over the age of 30 was exposed to such things as the internet when we were young. Growing up during the 70's,80's and even early 90's is in no way representative of kids growing up nowadays and being allowed to communicate with 1000's of adults that they don't know from adam on the internet. Such a *** comparison. If you can't see the difference between allowing your kids to communicate with countless faceless adults and what we did as children, then that says more about you than the person you're replying to.

12 is nothing, I heard this 7 year old talking to a khajiit player saying things like: "kitty!" "You're fat. I want to punch your belly in". It was mildly amusing and disturbing at the same time...even more so when I went AFK to use the bathroom to come back and his character was crouched at my orcs groin in an inappropriate WTF way.

That's why I play in off peak hours. I was stalked by a naked lion in Vulhel Guard the other night and had no option but to jump, summon my mount or run, though he followed me all over the area by the manor/bank. If I stopped to call up a window he was either running me through with his big sword or doing inappropriate things behind my back. I turn off chat and had no mic near anyway. I assume it was some juvenile male trying to make himself important on my statuesque altmer. I kind of resent having to go hide to log out but it is not uncommon to be attacked by players anytime I log in.

@Moonscythe Couldn't you have just used a wayshriine and vanish somewhere else if someone is following you around?

@Dekkameron I wasn't near the wayshrine; had in fact come from it. I finally ran off to the outlaw refuse and the naked lion didn't follow me. The greater point here is the harassment of players by other players in hub areas like Vulkel Guard. It is the location of the only fence in Auridon so many players cycle through there as they work their way through the lower levels or Cadwell's quests.

It's kind of interesting really. Since console release I play on both servers to skip the craziness as much as possible. Vulkhel Guard on the NA server seldom gets crazy though is often very busy even off peak. When it does go nuts though it erupts in generalized bad behavior i.e. attacking and killing everything in sight, massive random releases of magic triggering combat responses from other players and the aforementioned harassment of other players. It is very juvenile in action and appearance. Over in Davon's Watch and even more so in Daggerfall I see the very late night antics of the presumably European crowd. Daggerfall frequently hosts a late night raunchy party but they keep it contained and don't bother anyone outside their group for the most part. Davon's watch also does but less frequently though they do occasionally erupt into mass murder.

If I weren't playing Socom online on my PSP when I was like 13 (almost 9 years ago now), I would never have met my now best friend. Yeah, there's a lot of stupid *** said in game, but kids will see and hear all of that literally anywhere on the internet. I've been playing rated M games since long before "old enough" and I'm sure most of us have, and for the most part we turned out fine. We're all going to do and say stupid *** growing up. As long as the kids aren't too impressionable and their caretakers take the time to field any red flags appropriately, I don't see the harm.

You can meet some amazing people online, and it's worth sifting through the creeps. Let the kids have their fun and play, unless it causes any issues for them in game or out of the game. Most kids are smart enough to not try and recreate things they see in games, but studies have shown kids can be impressionable, so it all lies in the hands of the primary caretakers to figure out what is suitable for their child.

I wasn't home schooled thank you very much and I was allowed whatever freedoms my parents deemed was appropriate for my age at the time. I already said my problem isn't with the children playing the game in the first place. My problem is exposing them to the hundreds of people that will either take advantage of them or, more likely, expose them to something creepy that no child should have to deal with at their age. So how about you take your assumptions about my life and opinions and shove it where the sun don't shine.
