I think they're very underused, and with good reason.

Oh, and bleed/poison dots need to work vs damage shields.

    agreed, or re work them entirely and replace the bleed mechanic with something else, as it stand too much stuff is immune to bleeds for them to be competitive vs swords / maces

    Well it's not axes are under powered there in the middle for weapons damage between swords and maces/hammers it's that there passive are down right garbage cause bleed/dots are just terrible cause blades give a flat damage bonus and daggers give crit bonuses and hammer/maces give armor penetration while the axes with a like 500 points of bleed damage over what 5 seconds that's 100 points of damage a second a glass DPS health recovery alone can heal through that.

    Change bleed/dots and axes will be sssooooo much better.

    Yes please make axes better. Bleeds are low dps and can be purged instantly by 2 classes or anyone in a group that's running purge.

    I think a good fix would be bonus damage to blocking opponents and damage shields.

    Bleeds should stack a few times, imo.
    Would also fix the issue with reapplying bleeds and thus never even getting the first tick.

    I dunno about axes, but this whole thing with "sharpened maces" still confuses me, i mean isn't a sharpened mace an axe?

    Its not that bleed/poison dots need to work vs damage shields; All DoTs and abilities alike should work vs shields.

    To answer your question......I understand the confusion, maces are primarily a crushing weapon BUT many maces have a number of flanges that can indeed be sharpened (kind of like having a bunch of mini axes on the end of a stick)


    back on topic.......I also agree. Seems I'm the poster boy for using all the worst things (I like Agronians, I have always used a NB (they started off in a bad place) and my Templar uses an axe)

    having a bonus damage mechanic that can either be removed by a player or completely disregarded by boss mobs compared with other weapons (especially swords which is simply MORE damage) is a joke.

    Axes need an irresistible bleed and that number, like swords, needs to be a % of the weapons damage so it scales up with the weapon. Since it is essentially a DOT, which is much easier to manage than straight damage that % needs to be much higher........5% for Axes and 8% for Battle-Axes.

    increase the damage to weapon damage scaling, allow it to heal for the damage they deal, tada, you just made axes viable by making them fury style.
