2.1 are crafting writs now pointless?

Given that the big drive in the game will be v15-16 gear and that writs can not return mats at those levels will there be any value in continuing to do them?

Pointless? Ok.. give me all your gold and purple crafting mats. Thanks.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

If you want to get the Glass motif, then yes. If not, no. From my testing on PTS the highest level of writs still use the current Voidsteel level materials, so completion of the writs will still be as per normal.

I did two writs and got two pages of that new Glass Motif, not pointless. In fact, more useful then ever. imo.

You get Glass only if you have crafting upgrade tier X? Or they can come from any level Writ?

I found writs useful on pts for glass motifs. Hirelings on the other hand, not so much. I maxed hirelings on multiple toons for clothing, smithing or wood hirelings that only give v14 mats. That has been a real disappointment on the PTS, and one I won't waste skill points on in live.

To me the difference is that writs still have a payoff in gold, xp, surveys, and now glass motif pieces. Hirelings just suck up skill points to give things that are easily available from other sources.

I think I might have sensed some misunderstanding. While you need to put a point into the crafts to craft v15-16 gear, writs assigned at that level will still use shadow hide, void stone, void cloth and night wood. You won't have to spend precious v15-16 materials on writs.

Hirelings do bring a v15/v16 mat sometimes. Out of 10 hireling mails I got about 2 ingots and 1 clothing mat.. It just is a small chance...
