I have the achievement, so this is irrelevant to me.

I can't wait to revisit old content with my main (or toon you have been collecting for) for a reasonable chance at a trophy drop from the needed mob.

As a seasoned turn based Rpg gamer, zero problem with any sort of grind. I've actually done it for so long so many times.. Recently for example, I was about to walk into work and saw a tall plant that resembled jute, and began to quickly walk to it for a few steps. Yes, I have a problem.

Nice, till now I was happy each time I had one, trophy or fish. If I'd stay, I'd probably be frustrated for not getting them most of the time.

I really dont care if I can bank or trade them- All I want is just for them to be fixed so we can either-
    1) 'Use' them or
    2) Be credited it for them in some other way so I can remove them from inventory.
This I would just be happy with..

Uhm.. ok. I guess when this gets implemented, I won't give a damn anymore. I'm not even close to have these achievements completed (only one by now!!), and since I also want to (and do) play my other characters and not only one all the freaking time, I passed new trophies along through the bank for my main to add it to the list. However, I definitely won't play my main anymore for personal reasons. If this was now all for nothing, then good night.

It's a little more aggravating than that, since some of the trophies are stupidly hard to get for certain factions and (again with some factions) you can level out of range for those trophies.

Looting houses prior to the justice system was in no way taking advantage of anything. It was and to a large extent still is a necessity in order to find cooking ingredients, recipes and motifs. ZoS officially stated that farming containers was not in violation of the ToS. Farming containers is no different than grinding levels.

Gathering creature trophies and farming containers don't even really have much in common with each other.

    Items looted from houses:
    1. Some items have cash value. Either to other players or as vendor trash.
    2. Most items are tradeable.
    3. Can be done at any level.

    Creature trophies:
    1. Only good for personal use, no cash value not even to vendors.
    2. Untradeable to anyone other than your own characters (for now).
    5. Subject to the 5 levels rule.

Remember early provisioning and how much of a pain it was to gather recipes and ingredients as a high level character because of the level/region restriction? Remember how your only options to get what you needed if you leveled past it were to find it on an alt or buy it from other players?

Well it's essentially the same problem but with an untradeable object that randomly drops from specific creatures which may not be available in a high enough quantity to be considered feasible (and no, one or two mobs tucked away in an instanced area is in no way feasible), if they're available at all.

Unless an achievement actually gave me something useful/fun/good, I never really cared to do any achievements in any game really. I personally find the whole concept of achievements silly and a big waste of time. What good is some achievement that doesn't do anything? Bragging rights?

I'll just let the competitionists have their fun since that is their thing. Which is perfectly cool, more power to them. As for me? No thanks, I'll pass.

It hasn't been that way on PC at all. Console players got this little bit of erratic weirdness earlier, and no one on this side of the fence knew it was coming until it hit the PTS.

    Our opinions differ.

For me, it was a wrinkle (in a bad way) that went against my suspension of disbelief and made the world less real. Yes I can see looting camps or lairs - but to wander through a bank and check in every drawer? Unrealistic, but I was greedy enough to do it anyway. I was happy when it was removed from the world.

Same with trophies. I caught it on one character - trading it to another cheapens it, but I'm some greedy so I do it anyway. I'll be better off without it and the world will be a tich more real.

Personal opinion and a sense of realism is all well and good. Bear in mind though that you did at least have a choice in the matter. You could choose to participate or you could choose not to. Ultimately what you choose and why is up to you and that's fine. I'm not really debating personal preference.

By removing the ability to bank trophies ZOS is effectively removing that choice and potentially compromising the ability for some players to complete the associated achievements. This is what I take issue with.

The reason given for making the change wasn't because of technical reasons, a change in policy or concerns about possible exploitation. Rather it was because of confusion on part of the user about how collectables work. That's really not enough to justify a change that can potentially **** over a lot of people.

Meh. Likely has more to do with how they decided to make collectables register on pick up for consoles and on use for pc. Little details like that tend to get lost in translation and is likely the root cause of all the confusion.

More difficult I could deal with but if level restriction stays, hunting down some of those collectibles on my main is going to be pretty much next to impossible :'( .

Trophies aren't registered until they're used. You can only use them once. There's no cheating or taking advantage, only grinding on character X instead of character Y. In the end only one of them ends up with the trophy. Do you know why it matters? Trophies are subject to the same rules as normal loot, so you can't get them if you outlevel the mob. This makes acquiring certain trophies very difficult or even practically impossible for some characters. Do you really want to grind DRAGONSTAR ARENA for kagouti and nix hounds when others can farm Stonefalls? In what universe is this fair?

Also, I strongly dislike grinding. Transferrable trophies allowed me to loot them for my main while casually playing alts. It was fun and natural. Why change something that's fun to correct a dubious unfairness (while making it even more unfair)? I don't need more *** grinds in this game.

Umm... so wait... I'm a PS4 user here and i have no idea about any of this... am i understanding this correct? Every mob drops a trophy and and if you are 5 levels above or below it you can not get that trophy anymore? And are all these mobs available at every level or are there some that i'll never ever be able to get anymore if i over leveled? Why doesn't it ever get explained in the game as opposed to assuming everyone knows the mechanics of mob looting, i knew about XP but not about loot having the 5 level rule.

Sounds quite dumb if you ask me. "We made trophies to add a new set of achievements for you to do, but we won't inform you about it when you start, because 'surprise' is a feature when you learn you've permanently missed your chance to get it done!"

One of the devs came in another thread and said that they were looking at loot tables to make sure that you could get the trophies from something at any level. So you guys can get your panties out of a bunch.

Technically all mobs are available. In practice, some monster pockets are so small it will be very difficult to farm their already rarely dropping trophy if you outlevel their primary spawn area. Some of them are locked in group dungeons and DSA. Flesh atronachs, nix hounds... Even netches, though I guess there's always Coldharbor.

After the age of 6, my reasoning skills progressed past "it's fair" being the conclusion of my consideration. This is my first MMORPG and one thing I had to learn right away was that there are changes ... inherent to the genre ... so protesting any particular change is pointless. Maybe it will change later (back, or to something new). Maybe it won't.

I'm lucky enough NOT to be OCD enough to "have" to do everything, so I get to choose.

I hate grinding, so if that's the only way to "get" something, I will shudder and then move on to the things that are fun for me.

My literal answer to any question of where would I grind is - no - I don't grind/wouldn't grind.

On a slightly more deep level - Would I fight critters of my level in general than ones where I was over-leveled? - yes, fighting challenging opponents is more fun for me than a walk.
