Hey,

With IC, new grindfest will be added :
  • TV stones for v15/16 items & mats. full v16 stuff will need ~ 1300 mats, so it's 130,000 TV stones. Devs said we could got a 1k TV / h, so it's should be a 130hours of farm (~5 full days) for 1 complete armor/weapon set. (PS: I didn't count v16 enchants).
  • Glass Motif. It should require daily writs. with 3 writs / day, 25% chance on a writ to get the fragment, it will require ~8 days to get a fragment, x16. 128 days for a lucky one (4 months).
  • Other less hard to do (Xyvkin motif per example).

For Glass motif, I don't get any exceptations, daily writs are here since long, and only if they play with the % of luck on the writ reward, it should stay as is in next (2.2) update (Orsinium), maybe add fragments in Aylaid dungeons like dwemer, but trade should work for the impatients. They could maybe get their motif in ~ 1 month with huge amount of money.

For now, TV stones only drops in IC. What do you think will it happens in 4 months ? datamining already show us they're will be a raid, probably 1 dungeon, or on old dungeon with a new vet mode. Should we invest 5 plenty days of gaming to farm TV to get our new stuff ? Do TV stones will still only drop in IC and not in new content areas ? Will you spent money in buying mats ?

So, will you grind TV stones in a huge ganking zone for v16 items while a new PVE zone will pop in 4 months ?

For those that won't be doing IC, they will be farming the new dungeons as well as the old ones to get their higher level monster helms and shoulders.

The biggest mistake that @ZOS could have made with any DLC was to limit it to one side of players. The whole point of a DLC is to get EVERYONE to buy it. Not just PVP or PVEr's. Since they were only releasing Imperial City and nothing else, they should have created a PVE Cyrodil Campaign with a PVE Imperial City. No PVP sets would be able to be obtained from this campaign though, if you want those, go PVP for them.

Or, they should have released Imperial City with Orsinium. Then everyone would be buying this thing instead of a select group.

Poor management decisions will cost @ZOS both players and revenue....

The answer is no, I'll just level my chractors to V16 and wait for the new zone. I certainly won't be wasting mats, time and gold to create v16 or v15 armour when I'll just be doing it all over again in 2 to 3 months for v18 armour.

Note, while I'm mostly a PvE'er, I will go see what's in IC, but I doubt I'll spend much time there.

The datamined info shows they are going to offer a la carte access to the new IC 4-man dungeons so PvE people can access the dungeons (and maybe homebase in sewers for TV stone vendors) -- that's how they are going to get PvE players' cash. Not to mention TV stone packs or boosters will be added to Store, along with Glass and Xivkyn motifs (but will probably be pretty pricey like the other motifs). The grinds, level increases, and the like are implemented on purpose to (1) draw out playtime, (2) gate new/better gear to the paid DLC, and (3) encourage cash shop "conveniences." These are no accidents, they know what they're doing.

I agree 100% with that statement.

ZOS will NOT be getting my money until December that is if they do indeed release a DLC at that time because so far their track record at these things isn't very good.

More power to the PVPers. You all deserve it for the wait that you have endured but for a player like myself, sigh....

At the moment i am more inclined to use armor i allready collected than the new tv stones sets. When i did the 2 new pve dungeons 100 times i will probably use the sets that drop there.

Or not, i did vcoa 80 times and have the three sets that drop there in nice traits but never wore them once yet..

I will certainly not grind for 160 hours, the new content is far too much fun and the stones will come over time i guess , like ap and gold did in the past ....

TV stones is not the only way to gain materials, drop deconstruction will also give materials. It is work to get VR16 gear, and yes in 4-5months it may be replaced, but you will likely need VR16 purple gear (maybe VR15 yellow) to do the PvE content in the next DLC to get VR18 gear (assuming a level cap increase comes with it) and it will likely be a hard thing to get once again.

The only reasonable paced way outside of IC "pvp" area grinding to get mats for VR16 gear will be doing the two new dungeons that will require IC since the non-IC dungeons will have a very low rate of VR15+ drops (only bosses)

If your wanting to skip a DLC and wait till the next, expect to be behind the PvE crown alot as your gear will be lagging behind. There is PvE content in IC and if you skip IC totally because of the main focus of it being "pvp" it will only hurt you in the end

Considering that the majority of ESO players are PvE players who have no interest in PvP content, it would be absolutely dense of ZOS to force players to play and pay for content they don't like in order to grind levels to reach content they do like and are also expected to pay for.

I'm really not sure how they will handle access to Orsinium. Because future content will 'scale' based upon the players current level, perhaps they will allow players to access Orsinium at level 50, which would be good for those players who have no desire to play Cadwell's Silver or Gold but want to continue PvE questing.

My hope is that Orcinium will somehow scale and VR16 isnt raised. The VR8-16 range really needs some content.

I don't understand all this talk of grinding. For the most part I play the game to have fun, which consists of mainly pvp and while doing the activity I find enjoyable I'll naturally get the things I want. If you don't like pvp, you can just buy the telvar stone items off someone else. Out of the MMO's I've played ESO is the least 'grindy', most of the good items in the game aren't really that hard to get. I earn like 2 CP's a day and some gold doing what I enjoy.

I won't buy IC and I won't grind new gear in any way other than running the dungeons with the same frequency as before. I will wait for Orsinium and the v18 level cap, then gear up. If I'm wrong and Orsinium stays v16, all the better: I'll have a good PvE way of acquiring equipment. No need to stress over this ridiculous grind yet.

They have been very clear since the game went into production that it was a mixed PVE and PVP game where you needed to do both to have everything and be as strong as possible. They clearly said they are not dividing the game into PVP and PVE.
The Imperial City is actually what the game is... Mixed PVE and PVP. So why would they change there whole system and create a PVE IC? They want everyone doing PVP an PVE and thats how they are selling their game.

BUT... the majority of players DO NOT and DO NOT WANT TO do PvP! FORCING players to do content they do not want to play will result in massive loss of players and game going under. If you look at DCUO, which also has PvE/PvP, you'll also find there that PvP has the lowest game population.

It is also quite clear, with all consoles now being connected to the internet, that single player gamers are also very interested in online gaming with OPTIONAL group content, but also clearly not PvP. So WHY would any developer try to force players to play content when clearly this type of content only appeals to a minority of gamers?!? It doesn't and wouldn't make economic sense to do so.

Every update so far had only PvE content. Now we have an update that has both PvE and PvP content (there are two PvE-only dungeons inside IC after all and most of the content is a mix of PvE and PvP). Yet every single day, we have PvErs in here complaining that there is no PvE content (when there is) in what is meant to be a PvP update.

For the love of god, if you don't want to buy it do yourself a favour and don't. But enough with the QQ. It's done. The update is about to come out in 3 weeks. It is what it is.
