So far I am extremely impressed with ESO ... despite the log-in issues and other minor issues with the game (which are to be expected in ANY MMOG) this game is absolutely amazing. I cannot put down my controller! But of course, Bethesda is my all time favorite developer/publisher ... Fallout Series and Elder Scrolls. With that said, let's move-on ...
I only have one complaint about this game so far and I am wondering how others feel about it. As it is now the ONLY way anyone can auction/sell gear to other players is if you are in a guild with a Guild Trader which requires 50+ members to BID on a guild trader. Hmmmph. I read up on this in ESO FAQs and saw their explanation for this but I strongly disagree with it. According to what they say the reason(s) for this is they want the game to have a player driven economy which it still would be if they had open public auction houses. Also, they state that they want to keep certain items rare so as not to discourage players from running quests to obtain this rare gear ... but that is what achievements are for. Sure they would be able to buy the rare gear without running those specific quests if we had public auction houses, however they would get NO achievements and lets face it ... most of us are achievement driven in these games. So their reasons for this make no sense to me. Also, not everyone who plays this game wants to be in a mega-guild with over 50+ other players. Groups that huge ALWAYS come with HUGE drama and other issues that many of us choose to avoid in gaming. So I feel like ESO's choice to go this direction with player-player selling excludes a great number of players and forces us to either join huge guilds which MANY of us do not want to do -OR-TRY to sell our items through chat messages, etc which is a LOT like standing on the street corner with a sign that says "Will Work For Food" ... everyone will just ignore you. SMH. There HAS to be a better way that would include everyone no matter if they choose to be in a huge guild or not.
