Selling/Auctioning Items In-Game

So far I am extremely impressed with ESO ... despite the log-in issues and other minor issues with the game (which are to be expected in ANY MMOG) this game is absolutely amazing. I cannot put down my controller! But of course, Bethesda is my all time favorite developer/publisher ... Fallout Series and Elder Scrolls. With that said, let's move-on ...

I only have one complaint about this game so far and I am wondering how others feel about it. As it is now the ONLY way anyone can auction/sell gear to other players is if you are in a guild with a Guild Trader which requires 50+ members to BID on a guild trader. Hmmmph. I read up on this in ESO FAQs and saw their explanation for this but I strongly disagree with it. According to what they say the reason(s) for this is they want the game to have a player driven economy which it still would be if they had open public auction houses. Also, they state that they want to keep certain items rare so as not to discourage players from running quests to obtain this rare gear ... but that is what achievements are for. Sure they would be able to buy the rare gear without running those specific quests if we had public auction houses, however they would get NO achievements and lets face it ... most of us are achievement driven in these games. So their reasons for this make no sense to me. Also, not everyone who plays this game wants to be in a mega-guild with over 50+ other players. Groups that huge ALWAYS come with HUGE drama and other issues that many of us choose to avoid in gaming. So I feel like ESO's choice to go this direction with player-player selling excludes a great number of players and forces us to either join huge guilds which MANY of us do not want to do -OR-TRY to sell our items through chat messages, etc which is a LOT like standing on the street corner with a sign that says "Will Work For Food" ... everyone will just ignore you. SMH. There HAS to be a better way that would include everyone no matter if they choose to be in a huge guild or not.

A lot of us have been begging for a global auction house for over a year. It's not going to happen. Apparently, Zenimax thinks it's "fun and immersive" to have to travel between 20 zones and 300 traders just to maybe find an item that you are looking for.

You are even more limited on console because of the lack of zone chat. At least on PC we can sell items to anyone in zone chat without having to be in a trading guild.
Can't find the items you are looking for? Need a place to trade? We welcome ESO players of all platforms at ESO Trade, the home for trading of goods and services in the lands of Tamriel.

I find that sad and discouraging. As it is the very system they have now contradicts what they say they want. I mean: players can STILL buy gear they have not earned through questing with the current system from Guild Traders. Only difference is ONLY mega-guilds get to profit from the current system which is entirely biased. We can BUY from them but we cannot SELL to them OR anyone else???? Pffffft ... ridiculous.

I'm also pretty disappointed in the player trading system. I regularly check guild merchants nearby, but I can rarely find what I want. I'm sure not going to hop from Wayshrine to Wayshrine looking for item(s) I probably won't find.

IMHO, WildStar has the best crafting/trading system of any MMO I've played. There are two global auction houses (one for commodities, one for gear), and the best items can ONLY be crafted by players.

Yes, you can get some pretty [email protected]$$ gear by questing, but if you want the best the game has to offer, you have to go to the auction house. No cacophony of sellers talking over each other while they hawk their wares in common areas like we see in ESOTU.

ESOTU already has a killer crafting system, but just making stuff for my own use is kinda boring.

The guild traders are the worst implementation of a public auction in an MMO ever thought of. If people would lower their standards and come to terms with the fact ESO is unable to implement better systems you would stop being disappointed with the crap they hand us.

Lol, yes lower your expectations. That's what fixes everything...

Lol but seriously, I would just leave instead. Which I plan on doing when I finish the main quest line.
The console version of this game is crap, and I doubt they would add the much needed text chat any time soon . And when/if they add a text chat I have the ominous feeling it would be just a bunch of quick chat options and not an actual text chat.
