Solution To Everyone's Issues With Champion Points

BvB__3425
BvB__3425
This is my first time (attempting to) starting a discussion, but an idea just came to my mind while rolling out a new character and assigning the CP's I've gained on my V8 main, regarding the CP system. So I don't actually have any problem with this system myself, but I have read multiple threads consisting of complaints of how unfair it is in non-vet campaigns for those who wish to stay at 49, or for those who feel they'll never catch up to those with (as they over exaggerate) thousands upon thousands of CP already. Just for some perspective, I started playing ESO when it released for consoles and have been a dedicated PvPer from the very beginning,so I do have some experience with the CP system and PvP.
ANYWAYS, my idea is this: Allow players to gain CP from the very start, and remove the shared CP system (CP gained is shared throughout all characters).
My logic with this proposal is that the feelings of unfairness for new players will lessen since they too will have the ability to gain CP. And also this will give new players a little boost to catch up to those who have played longer and have reached Vet and have had more time to gain CP.
The flaws: there are many, I know, but this is just an idea and rough proposal that I came up with and I have not seen any other idea such as this, so I thought I'd just throw it out there.
This isn't meant to be an argument or whatever, simply an idea I came up with that I thought I'd share. Quite honestly I couldn't care less what they do with the CP system in the future, when I started playing during console release I hopped right into haderus as I hit lvl 10. Of course I died here and there, easy picking for higher ups and stuff but that was only to be expected in my opinion. I just played the game and on my journey to getting the skills I wanted for my build I hit inevitably hit V8, I had fun the whole time, 70% in PvP.

Please discuss nicely and feel free to point out the flaws lol, that's what makes it a constructive discussion.

The only fair thing to do is to allocate everyone 3500 CPs on every toon to spend as they will ... but that will not be fair to those who have played long hours to grind on their own.

CP's are really only relevant in PvP .... and the actual solution is to have non-CP Campaigns and remove the benefit of CPs from Imperial City encounters.

As a side question, how did you get into a group in Cyrodil ? On PC its easy, as soon as you zone it you can General Chat "Invite please", on my PS4 I cannot seem to get anything happening ... voice chat is proximity based and Group finder doesnt work for me

I would like to get into a group for PvP simply to try it, as a glass cannon PvE specced I am useless by myself in Cyrodil
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I've been advocating that people start earning cp from the outset since CP was introduced. I still think they should continue to be shared account wide, but that would help those of us who are hopelessly far behind feel a little better about this. I have about 48 or 49 points on my NA account.

Since I do not yet have a vet char on EU I have 0 points there.

@Gidorick has proposed a catch up method that actually makes sense. I'd like to see that implemented along with allowing the earning of CPs from the very beginning.

Not necessarily a bad idea, but the CP system was supposed to replace VR ranks, and it was supposed to be "alt friendly." IOW - account wide CP was kind of the point, so that long time players could play alts and not feel penalized for doing so.

The only problem with the CP system is the infinite grind for it. ZoS is addicted to this idea that they need to have constant rewards for progression into perpetuity. They should just cap the characters at a reasonable point (something casuals can get to in under a year) and be done with it. If the no-lifers get to that point after a weeklong no sleep \ shower \ toilet marathon, they can roll an alt or go play another game.

I agree that we should earn CP from the beginning. I made a post about this earlier asking what the problem would be if we earned CPs from level 1.

as for the Catch-Up Mechanic (thanks for the tag @Ysne58) it works pretty much like this:

When a player earns a CP the system takes the highest number of CPs (or an average of the top 10%) on the server and then figures how many CPs the player currently has in relation to the highest number of CPs and applies an XP buff to that player.

The higher the highest number of CPs the greater the available XP buff.

The greater the gap between the player and the top performers the greater the percentage of the buff the player will receive.

If you want to read the concept in more detail, check it out HERE.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Not sure why you used the term everybody. I myself and my guildmates in both my, non merchant, guilds have no issues with the current system. Nor have I heard anyone in the guilds i sometimes run with to fill out a trial complain.
Magic is impressive but now Minsc leads SWORDS FOR EVERYONE!!

CP gained shared through out all your characters is just dumb......I bet they are regretting this now it's probably why
100% of the grief from new players is being caused by level 10's who refuse to play with their own peers in VR land...rather they want to come and dominate bwb like their BOSS whatever

Probably the best Idea I've heard since this CP fiasco started....my sub has 29 days too go if I dont' see significant changes or commitments to this game from the devs.....well you know

I like the fact things take longer to earn gives me more incentive to play. The amount of time it took you to type all that you could of earnt a cp
  • BvB__3425
    BvB__3425
Well I guess this wasn't as original of an idea as I thought! Haha, my bad @Gidorick . But yeah i guess I could have said "some people" instead of "everybody" @snowmanflvb14_ESO , and that's so very true @Hastings88 , I feel the same way. More time put in should definitely = more rewards. And I almost completely forgot that VR were even planning to get removed, @firstdecan
  • Pizza_Magician
I just started getting CP, but was delighted that my alts are able to spend points that my main is earning, so please don't remove shared CP. I do agree that CP points should be earned from the start, hey why not just get rid of levels and use the constellation system for the whole thing?
  • BvB__3425
    BvB__3425
Because, @Pizza_Magician , if they remove levels then we would not be able to level up. If we can't level up then we wouldn't be able to see the magnificent display of lights that go off when you gain a level

Real talk though, I do agree with you Magician, shared CP is nice, I see that now that I'm leveling up an alt

Definitely think cp should start at level one, this will give new players a starting point to learn the new sytem, and as most new players tend to reroll characters early, it will introduce the shared pool as well.

Do like @Gidorick idea for catch up, but starting at V1.

Also like to see trees expanded to encompass more, for example add crafting bonuses, and seperating elemental damage perks to individual slots. Also add new abilities that cost multiple cp, for example 20 cp for an invisibilty ability, or 50 cp for a Fire Rain ultimate ability. Once unlocked it would be available in skill tree with morph options.

Give more to spend points on, and higher cp players may have to pick and choose what to spend them on more

Did OP consider at least a bit, to post in one of already existing CP releated topics?
Or OP absolutely, had to make his own topic?

Sure it works for people who're now new, but how about after 6 month, what then if you are new. This game needs proper catch-up system, we know there isnt enough population to make multiple campaigns or multiple Trials or Vet dungeons either. I think it should be goal based like most things in ESO are, like Cyrodil ranks (Just one PVP rank more.) Emperor (This month I aim to become Emperor), and Leaderboards. (Today me and my mates are gonna hit the top score) New players should know whats current top, so they can put their own goals towards it.

Also I think they should start selling boosters for news and casuals like 500%, eventually they need to do something to get extra revenue. B2P-switch is losing its steam btw. We used to be at top 10 at Steam, now we are at top 30. Glory doesnt last forever.

Quite honestly, @MaximusDargus , I did not consider it, not even a little bit. And I did not absolutely have to at all, I just found it easier at the moment when the idea came to my mind. And @Sausage , I get what you're saying and all but.. Yeah, after six months, what about it? The game's been out on PC since 2014 (which you already know), and those PC players who've transferred their accounts to consoles have over a years head start on those who started playing during console release (me being one of them). When I began, I too thought "how the hell am I supposed to catch up to those who started on PC, already up there in Vet ranks and all?". But then I just started playing the game and got really into PvP more then anything, and now currently am a Vet 8 who is able to play competitively in Azura's star. Not bragging or bashing on your comment or anything lol, my point is just that after less than two months of casual play to get my character to where I want him to be, build wise and all, I inevitably reached a point where I can play happily against those who started before me. Whether it be 6 months, a year, hell if I decided to roll out a new char. a year from now I could still eventually get it up to the point where he can play competitively, ya know what I'm saying?
  • BvB__3425
    BvB__3425
One thing I never understood about the whole "catching up" thing is why some people see it as such a complicated or hard task that needs some sort of boosting for new players. There's a level cap, and any equally fair way to obtain all the skills points you'll ever need, and it most certainly doesn't take a year as I am already a V8 in two months worth of casual play. You'll get there eventually is what I'm saying I guess

The easiest way to get into a group in Cyrodill is to go to one of your factions main spawning locations transit shrine as that is where the group leaders recruit members for the groups.

Our groups always recruit after we wipe and respawn at these locations.
