Do all vet levels take an equal amount of xp?

Just wondering as I see people talking about the 1-14 grind. I'm vet 7 and it seem way too easy to level up. Nothing grind like so far. In cadwell's silver the only quests I've done is in the almanac and maybe one or two more. Only done halve delves/dolmens/world bosses. Done the main questline and delves in stonewalls. So by skipping that much and getting rank 7, how can it be that hard to her to 14?

Am I missing something here? Do people count questing as grinding? I enjoy doing quests...

1 to 14 is the same amount of EXP needed per level. It's 1mil for each if I remember right.

Yes, all VR levels take the same amount of exp to gain.

On the subject of "how easy it is to get VR14" well i can tell you that prior to ESO going B2P if you completed EVERYTHING in the Cadwells including all dolmens, bosses, delves etc you would get around VR11 tops.

It's 1 million XP per rank, all the way up. Will be 850k per rank after the next major update.

If you do all the quests, all the extra stuff, etc. in each zone, you'll have no problems keeping up, and if you duo with someone, subscribe to ESO+, etc. You'll easily out-level content even without doing everything.

The only people that have problems now are those that solo everything, have no xp bonuses, and avoid doing all but the absolutely necessary quests for Cadwells.

    {edited to add in "now" -- since it was definitely a lot more annoying before they changed things.}

The answer to the question is yes, all Vet Ranks take 1,000,000 XP (850,000 after 2.1 is released).

As to why it is hard and whether questing is grinding... that depends on what you like doing, and how many times you have already done Cadwell's previously on other characters.

Well this is my first character. I'm an ES player, not an MMO players so I bought this for questing. PVP and dungeons was just a bonus.

I have eso plus, but that's only 10% so I wouldn't be too far behind.

So I'll be vet 14 before I know it!

the grinding from vet 1 - 14 is pretty tough unless you are a student/unemployed..

i have 2 nb's vet 14 (stamina, magicka) and i'm dreading levelling up my new DK who is now level 40.

Considering it takes around 50 hours to get to level 50, and 150 hours to get from vet 1 - vet 14 (15,16 now), 150 hours of play time is alot for someone who works - and can play 2 hours per day...

Yes people say they can do it much faster than 1 hour per level, but i'd say most players who solo and just grinding mobs over and over is about 1 hour per level in a decent spot without other players sharing the mobs.

Despite the fact that it takes so long, it is satisfying when you finally get to v14 and you should have an advantage over lower vet levels in PVP. You earned it..

I can level a new character to VR1 in less than 20 hours, and that includes some time spent waiting here and there because some of my grinding partners (when I had one) weren't exactly the fast type. Took me 6 or 7 days with my last character, two or three hours top per day. No exp potion or scrolls, no sub, no ring of Mara and only a handful of Champion Points (80). Some people are doing this way faster than I am, but it's also a matter of luck (i.e. finding a spot that isn't crowded), especially these days where everyone and their mother are leveling a new toon. :)

No need to be unemployed to be fast: work on your "combos", attack or spell weaving and sudently, the non vet content seems pretty trivial.

As for VR ranks, grinding is... well, harder and takes longer. With a partner and a good spot, it will be done in no time (3 hours per level, average), but if it's your first character, take your time and do the quests you want to do. You bought the game for the game world, so enjoy it. Sure, it might take 10 hours per level (maybe 5-6 hours when the next patch comes!), but it will be less mundane than grinding. In fact, if you enjoyed all the quests before, you might enjoy the next ones and you should be near the VR 14 mark when you finish Cadwell's Gold.

I'm a bit of a completionist myself: my bro and I are playing together with two of our toons. We're taking our time doing every single secondary quest, delve, dolmen, dungeon (duo, non-vet only!), and it's more enjoyable to me than blasting through a couple of mobs per minute for hours.

I have a full time job. Have been having some quiet weekends to save money. Sure my playtime will drop. But so far I've enjoyed levelling up.

No need to rush your experience. :)

Some people hate quests. In most MMO without voice acting, I am the kind of person to skip quests briefing and debriefing. In this game (and Star Wars: The Old Republic, for example), quests are way more enjoyable to me because they are well introduced and have voice acting.

Also, there is almost no "Kill 30 sweevers" types of quests, and when it's done, it's disguised somehow and the number of mobs to kill is lower than in most MMO. Fetch quests, however, are more present, but "talking to" quests aren't half bad: while the main story is on the short side, each alliance story is quite unique and I like to learn more about them.

The only thing that annoys me is the fact that there seems to be only a handful of voice actors to cover every character in the game, but that's off-topic.

I think it's silly that they do. If they converted Vet Ranks to regular levels and kept the XP requirement step increases consistent then we would come out at about level 80.

I don't know what you're doing, but I can't even get 1 vet level per silver zone anymore without grinding (used to be a lot easier before they added in the champion system and went to 1 million XP per vet level).

And I do EVERYTHING in a zone, mind you. I'm a real completionist--every world boss, quest, dungeon, delve, side-quest, dolmen, and countless, countless mobs in between. The only thing I don't do is the 4-man group dungeon, since the group-finder is so worthless. But there isn't a scrap of content in my zones I don't finish, or skyshard or location I don't find.

I do everything in my silver zones, and I inevitably still have to grind out the last 10-15% just to get 1 vet level per zone. It used to be a LOT easier back before all the Champion and vet changes. Back then you could supposedly get 1.5 vet levels per zone just by doing the Caldwell missions.
