Omg.... this is gonna be a hella good update. Omg no wounder the nerfed the hell out of streak xD

LOL, I can guarantee you most of the comments you see here are NOT from real Sorcs.

There are some good things and bad things in store for Sorcs. Dark Deal/Conversion and Rune Prison/Cage are massively improved. Shields are still OK for PvP and PvE outside of Cyrodiil/IC, but suffer greatly for PvE inside of Cyrodiil and the Imperial City.... which are exactly the places where you will be fighting the toughest mobs! #facepalm

Critical/Power Surge is improved, but not enough to make up for the 1.6 nerf. :'(

The real story is Ball of Lightning. It's a DISASTER. The 1.5 second orb is NOT ENOUGH for Sorcs who are accustomed to using the spell as a defense against mobs of casters.

I farmed the sheild breaker set on my first day in, i laugh at sheild stacking sorcs, i laugh as they go WTF

@Greg I was wondering if anyone got it? What are the mechanics on it? I did some testing previously on what unresistable damage was, and it was just damage that couldn't be blocked. But I'm guessing it's actually an umbrella term, does it increase damage to the shield or does it damage through the shield?

Please link my @Zlater in your response, I'm really interested and would like to do some testing around it.

I obtained the shield breaker set as well and found a sorc to test it out on (not formal testing mind you).

How the Irresistible damage works with light and heavy attacks is, it sends the damage directly to health, bypassing shields entirely. A sorc could have a 20k shield and they would die with a 20k shield as their health whittles down over time from the light attacks. It's a very strange set actually. Makes the counter to sorcs a medium attack spam (The highest damage output).

I have dueled a few sorcs using it and found it pretty effective. It is a slow working DPS though, each medium attack (on my character) hit for 2k. The only true counter to that set is healing. (The damage hits consistently though and can crit. It also goes through block, and bypasses the 50% damage reduction from the battle spirit buff.)

Awesome thanks so much for that.

@Sentinel did you try a light / poison attack weave? That would seem, by the description, the most effective way to do it, because heavy and light attacks work against it.

I don't really understand, why shields are stronger now, as they actually should be weaker compared to damage.

However, since Sorcs cannot escape thate easily anymore, it's fair to have reliable shields in my opinion.

    Now don't be so reasonable!

I did, actually. I found that it was suboptimal. Weaving with this set does not provide as much damage (when weaving light, med, & heavy attacks with skills) to the target's health, as only half of the weave is actually touching the health pool, the rest is mitigated by the shields. Firing only light attacks is better damaging to the target's health than weaving with light and poison arrow. Heavy attacks hit harder but take too long to fire. Medium attacks (on a bow, thus far) are the best way to go, but can be a bit unresponsive. But I do not recommend any weaving with this set.

Basically, spamming medium/light attacks is the best way to use this set against a shielded opponent.

Haha when I first saw the set I thought "so you could just light attack a sorc to death?" It seems like it might be a bit op for its intended purpose, I'm imagining to give a bit of a DPS drop though.

I cant see it bypassing a lot of other boss mechanics like grubull's damage reflect shield. Though the deeps arent really anything to brag about, that particular bosses health isn't really much either.

Thanks for that, its really appreciated.

Yeah, just keep in mind, the DPS for this at it's maximum is probably something ~2k. It would be rather... useless PvE wise, but against sorc's it works the best. DKs and Templars can outheal it a bit easier so it's slightly less advantageous against non-magicka sorcs.

People can say what they want, the 10000% fact of the matter is shields are weaker now than they are in live. What the big difference is in pts is, in live when a sorcs shields drop they are normally extremely fast to drop, due to the majority having very low resistances and no healing without ward.

Where as in pts, because of the damage nerf once you get a sorcs shields down, he has a lot more time to react and cast his next shield as his health is going down a lot slower.

The thing is, this is not sorc or shield specific, but more due to the reduced damage giving them more time to react. But again, this applies to all classes.

I'll tell you what I have found to be a big issue for me though whilst using my nightblade. I'm finding Templars and DKs who have spec'd into max health and healing extremely hard to kill. My main issue is by the time I get their health and resources down they just pop a pot and it's back to square one.

Personally don't like any of these new changes and wish they would of just brought back soft caps

If only more people saw the sense in this.

If ZoS had just implemented softcaps back into the game, then there would have been absolutely no necessity for Bolt Escape, shield, and dodge roll nerfs.

But, my dear, all the nerfs to Sorcerers are ONLY because PvPers haven't been able to beat on Sorcerers and get free kills since 1.6! So since Sorcerers aren't as susceptible to their one-shots, and aren't easy AP, they want to destroy the class not only for PvP, but also for PvE.
How about we just remove the class from the game, would everyone be happy? /:

The class I find the hardest to kill, hold down, or deal with in IC is Sorcs. So they are still crazy useful and strong.

The easiest class to kill is NBs, specifically magicka NBs. I am killing them like stupidly easy, like taking candy from a baby, all I need to do to make their entire gameplan and playstyle useless, is that detection flare ability or whatever it is called in the alliance skills.

It is seriously so easy beating NBs like this, that it almost feels like I am cheating. Although, I love that there is a counter for their Cloak still. This is all on one of my alt characters.

Guessing that is only as a NB that can stealth outside of range before they notice "WUT" the "F" is going on. 2K DPS sounds so low to be laughable. As a sorc I would just pop Rapid Regeneration and laugh on.

For stamina builds, RIP. Yes you have just as good but maybe only (slightly) better damage than a magicka build. But as soon as you block, you are dead if they know what they are doing.

Plus damage to break shields has been nerfed, so overall, shieldstacking has only gotten stronger because now there is very little chance to die in between shields.

Doesn't matter the class, sorcs are just better situated to take advantage because they still have mobility on their side.

EDIT: I play Sorc (stamina, magicka), Nightblade (Magicka, Stamina) and Stamplar.

Did the change to detection pots not get implemented? I haven't tested them as of yet.

I think that damage needs to be adjusted accordingly, and hope ZoS is going to go in that direction. That would make it so that class shields for all classes who have them are not rendered useless entirely, and Sorcerers will be able to be killed accordingly.

As for nightblades, people may be tossing flare around now, but I doubt it will end up on everyone's bars in the end.

There are sorcs in game right now that has hardened ward for 19k dmg mitigation - one click and 1500 magicka, bam! Then add the other shields and shuffle on top of that.

Yes, they halved the values of shield and damage, but anyone who can count the fingers on their hands can tell that shield stacking ain't going nowhere in this new build.

Unless the coders actual do what they are supposed to do and fix shield stacking like people have been advocating since closed beta.
