I am very happy with PTS so far. The game has improved tremendously, here is a breakdown on some major points:
-No stamina regen while blocking
This is one of the best changes of the entire patch. Perma blocking is skill-less and boring. The game is significantly improved because of this change. Tanks who complain really need to re-evaluate how fun it was to hold down the right mouse button forever.
-Dodge roll and bolt escape costing more every time its spammed
Another two great changes, getting rid of the extreme cheese of bolting endless or rolling endlessly
-Less damage overall
This is both good and bad. On live, players are able to 1 shot other people from stealth giving the victim absolutely no chance to fight back. This change eliminated the 1 shot skill-less cheese kill (which is fine in FPS games because FPS games don't allow complete invisibility like stealth does in this game.) Unfortunately fair fights are now a bit more slow paced, which is less exciting, and outnumbered situations are even more difficult to prevail in. The stealth cheese had to go, but endless fights are boring as well. Which leads to the next point:
-Shield spam
Shield stacking is not the main issue, its shield spamming. A sorcerror can essentially stand still and spam hardened ward forever, so long as he has enough regen, and essentially live forever against one or two attackers. This is a bit silly because it has no fair counter. Currently on the PTS, a good sorcerror is nearly unkillable in a 1on1, or anyone that is shield spamming with enough magicka regen and points into bastion. However, the devs realize this and are going to make shields crittable in the next patch, which along with the shield breaker set (which looks overly specialized and has unknown overall usefullness) should help tremendously.
-Bug fixes
A lot of bug fixes are on PTS. I no longer get stuck in the ground after every other crit charge, I am not encountering unbreakable CC nearly as much as on live (although this might be due to less players and less lag). Seems like there are some great fixes, but it seems like penetration (both armor and spell pen) is still bugged. Penetration has been bugged for nearly the last entire year, from sharpened bugs to nirnhoned bugs, to maces bugs. It seems as if sharpened maces are still ignoring way too much armor, perhaps even 100% armor ignore. This needs to be addressed
-Final Suggestions
Overall I am really happy with the PTS. I think damage is at a good point but heals/damage shields are still slightly too strong. With the recent news of damage shields being crittable, this issue may be fixed. I think sharpened maces need to be fixed extremely urgently, and I think champion point gaps in PVP also need to be addressed urgently. Hybrids need to be made viable somehow, either by reintroducing softcaps, or some other method. Build diversity was much better when you werent forced into being either stamina or magicka, and hybrids were viable. Race change should be added soon. Imperial city is very fun, love the nearby spawns and nonstop action. Great patch, will add more feedback as I play more.
