Whats Next for the Edler Scrolls?

The latest installment of ES happens before Arena (witch is the 1st ever Elder Scrolls game made in 1994) so if Skyrim is the most newer in the timeline then what happens to ESO? What happens to your character? Does the ESO game even make an impact on the seires? What does happen to the characters in Skyrim and what happens to the events after it?

The rumor mill has it that the next installment is set in the Argonian homeland. But what timeframe, single v. multiplayer, etc. are anyone's guess at this point. Frankly since they're pushing out Fallout IV this year I don't expect the next TES game to be even announced until early next year. Personally I'm hoping for a Khajiiti centered game. I love being a thief character in TES games and Khajiiti are my race of choice for thievery.

IF a TES:VI exists, based on Bethesda's dev cycle with previous games, it'll be on a very early development stage. I'd say they have the location set down (was robably decided around Skyrim's release), the plot is decided on, they may have rough outlines of factions and stuff, and likely lots of concept art. Major work is unlikely to start until at least very late this year (release of Fallout 4 in November), so I would expect probably a couple of years until release.
Of course, then there's the possibility that ESO changed all that...

Like it or not, ESO is a canon game. It is set before the main series, so hard cheese. It's Bethesda and Zenimax's series/game, not ours

Also, I think Elder Scrolls VI is a long way off yet. Todd Howard stated that after Fallout 4, they are looking into a new IP. Also, given that if ES VI came within the next two years, it would kill off ESO population for quite some time, so I rather think that Zenimax (as the owner of BGS and ZOS) may not be pushing for that.

Expect an Elder Scrolls VI in a few years. And Landfall is coming in Tamriel . . . They've kinda lore-d themselves into a corner with that one.

They said Elder Scrolls Legends is the next. I wish ES6 would have come sooner, this game might even die before ES6 comes. I really hoped ES6 would boost population in next couple year. Also call be crazy but I believe ES tv-show or movie is coming too. Pixels movie means game industry or and movie industry is getting closer, not to mention Warcraft movie. I wouldnt mind to see if Game of Thrones TV-series is replaced by ES. Just imagine ES races how much cooler it would be, and we could even take on Sci-fi. Sci-fi has used "unique" races for their advantages forever. Time to kick some ass.

Yeah i tend to agree with this. Like it or not ES is ES, be it Bethesda or ZoS, both are owned by the same corporate suits which set the deadlines and plot the milking strategies, Eso is still relatively new and don't think they will try to bury it that soon yet.

The only direction I can see Elder Scrolls going is a 2nd Great War between the Thalmor and Imperials.

I'm guessing the next game is set in the Summerset Isles with High Elves taking center stage. Never liked High Elves but Elder Scrolls has an Elf fetish what with a dozen or so variations of elves. The Sload can make an appearance in Summerset like the Falmar did in Skyrim.

I will like to see Akavir myself. It has races and settings never touched on by Elder Scrolls. The Nerevaine set off to Akavir after defeating Dagoth Ur some 200 years before Skyrim. I can imagine he made contact with that continent. There's all kinds of possibilities with that ideal.

Also what happened to the Dragonborn? They never did wrap that up lore wise unless they plan on Skyrim 2: Electric Boogaloo.

From what I have come to understand this game will not be factored in to future ES games because it is lore broken and non-canon. At best it is an alternate timeline. As for what happens after Skyrim, I always figured that the Dragonborn is the next "Talos" or similar Nord badass who unites Tamriel. Plus it is not the Altmer but the Thalmor that need to be taken down and there is a resistance fight in the Summerset Isles. Those would be a reasonable next steps that lead to new game in a united Tamriel again. Or as what usually makes enemies fast allies is an external foe. #DwemerReturn #Akiviri etc.

And I'm not even sure we'll *ever* see it as long as ESO is around and still releasing expansions. I seriously doubt Zenimax wants two of their sibling companies offering competing content. You haven't see a single-player KOTOR game since The Old Republic released, have you?

ES has the muscle to branch the brand. Are you saying Elder Scroll Legends is a bad idea too?

Elder Scrolls Legends is just an app, a card game for the phones and tablets. Not a full console game.

Surprisingly, that does not mean that the next TES game from BGS cannot be a game set in Argonian lands.

There is no way that the Imperial City that we see in Oblivion is the same one that we are seeing on PTS right now. Something the ESO Loremaster said once makes me think that the events of ESO will be quietly erased from the timeline, without a trace. Probably thanks to one of the Elder Scrolls we trot around Cyrodiil on a daily basis. There is ample precedent for such things in Skyrim, and only the Dov would even be aware that it happened, although they might not know what happened.

I really hope that doesn't happen @lordrichter. Even Redguard and Battlespire are considered canon. I would hate to see ESO relegated to the same fate as the Star Wars expanded universe.

I'd like to see it go back to the time of the uprising against the Ayleids. The dwemer would still be alive, for one thing, and you could see all the cool Ayleid magic and whatnot for another.

I am not certain that I want the events of the Planemeld and the Three Banners War to be part of the official canon.

the Next for ES is ESOTU Orsinium probably end of November/beginning of December , then next year will be Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves guild, after that I have no clue...

But I too would love a Akiviri expansion, where the Akiviri Invade Tamriel and guess what you get a 4th faction with three new races to play (that are locked to that 4th faction).. now that would be awesome..

Now a Actual single player ES game.. 2019 maybe 2020..
