Console: Should text chat be implemented with the IC patch?

Basically like your idea but also visible on screen (not only bubble) maybe just for everyone in your group. Because I actually tried using the bubble chat stuff in a group once and it was very disappointing.

lower left screen, semi transparent when not in use and have it minimizable. easy easy stuff wont effect anyones game play.

What ? I just started playing ESO on the PlayStation 4 and came from Final Fantasy 14 and before that 11. Every single mmo I;ve played on consoles has had text chat. What are you talking about ?4 -

On the detach ideas:
Within the social tab on PS4: using the touch pad to move the text box around with one finger and two fingers in to shrink the window size, two fingers out to stretch.
Scrolling via touch pad with two fingers together and the joy stick
Xbox one: uses smartglass just as mentioned above for ps4 touchpad (or the Kinect that allows the same if skeletal tracking is used. If not. Voice commands)

Gold spammers do not exist in ESO on PC. ZOS had done a great job of keeping them away and you can expect the same treatment on console.4 -

What's ideal for some isn't ideal for all.
Some play on console to avoid the PC master race gameplay...while others may be open to different opportunities of both.
The proposal being discuss attempts to satisfy everyone and also not interrupt or change what does work.
-The inclusion of a text chat box within the social tab....
what thoughts, ideas do you have on that suggestion?

This game is an application running in the Xbox One OS...all games do not support keyboards on Xbox One unless designed to do so.

I have the game...this specific game was developed to allow the ENTER key to work when the USB keyboard was plugged in when the console is turned on. Not by the developer but that's how the Xbox One handles keyboards right now...this game is just a specific example.
IF the USB keyboard is plugged in after the console is turned on the ENTER is not functional and therefore requires us to use the controller to prompt the text entry box which then creates keyboard letter functionality.
That set-up is not ideal and in this game, there linking and interacting in the text box chat requires controller button sacrifices, which is also not ideal
I'm trying to find a best fit for all sides of the conversation..without impacting other ideas that may or may not be implemented regarding controllers and keyboards.
So either leave the usb corded keyboard plugged in , use a wireless usb keyboard, or reboot after you plug the corded keyboard back in ... dont see what the issue is here?
I don't want it see it at all...Zenimax has decided not to include it which part of that was the UI (we know this tho)
so I'm suggesting a compromise to help get the idea considered....
Because the text chat feature as an all encompassing approach should have allowances for ideal usage.
The Xbox One has 3 USB ports only.
Most only have 2 available due to external HD usage
so from there 1 is often used to charge or plug in a controller in the event of a battery going low or dead
the other port can be used for other items...keyboards, wireless headset, alt HD for non gaming files, or the TV adapter
The PS4 may differ but our discussion has to work for both PS4 and Xbox One.
This isn't ideal overall to leave it plugged in for one or maybe two games if someone plays two
It isn' ideal to "force" people to buy a keyboard to participate but Smartglass can work if its not on the main UI

I played dcuo on ps4 for about 2 years. I used text chat every time I played and I did not have a keyboard. I used the built in digital keyboard and it worked just fine. I am sure the digital keyboard on the xbone and ps4 will do fine for those not able/willing to buy a regular keyboard.Hi2 -

-Personally this is why I'm against adding text chat to consoles because it becomes a way for ppl to avoid using the games current systems that may need some work but are there so that you will not need to add text chat or additional text emotes

Who are you ? What ridiculous drivel are you talking about ? I'm a new PlayStation 4 player who expected it to have text because I don't want to listen to you or your friends. I want to listen to the game the programmers made with all its sounds as they are , and communicate with people all over in text at the same time. I've been playing console games most likely far longer than you , (Radio Shack pong unit via UHF hookup), and loved playing Final Fantasy 11 with players from all over the world and using text chat. Then Final Fantasy 14 , and have Dabbled with DCUO some. I very much enjoy socializing with lots of people at the same time as getting to relax and hear the game as it was made. Who are you to say your opinion matters more than anyone else who voted in this poll.

Who the hell is this guy that keeps trying to tell me I don't know what I want. I very much want and expected it as I said in the above post as I've been playing mmorpg's on consoles for 10 years and all of them have had text chat.

Nice.
Let me give you ideologues an example of why I created this poll. For the last 3 hours on PS4, I've been running around from city to city, crafting station to crafting station trying to find a woodworker who can craft a VR1 lightning staff with precise(my research is 12 days out) for my sorc and have not found a single person. That's not worst of it though; only about 1 in 20 people I asked in area chat even heard me and in-game mail was worse. Here's the kicker: nearly every person I sent a PSN message to answered me, many of them even checking alts in an attempt to help. The community wants to interact; we're being prevented from doing so.7 -

Im a console player and I voted for it. And I also played on PC. I see nothing wrong with PC players supporting an effort by Console Players to implement something that affects them.
This whole 'canada voting in america' is nonsensical garbage. PC Players are playing the same game we are. Are you going to next argue that these votes dont count because players on Console are broken between XB1 and PS4? And because of that they shouldnt have influence on each other? Youre really reaching here for an excuse to dismiss something that completely shuts down every argument youve made on this topic.
If anyone should weigh in on this issue its the PC Players as theyve been playing this game since day one. They have the experience with Text Chat and can easily list the pros and cons. YesAs a PC player, I understand how important this can be. Voice chat is VERY important to any Delve, dungeon and most of all PvP. How can you get the attention of a 20 man group if you have to type while in combat when a major battle is going on? Are you going to stop and type while your group gets slaughtered? I would not. As I said, as a PC player, this really should be put in and I vote...... YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!3

Sau✭✭YesI've put the game on hold, for the most part, waiting for text chat to be implemented. As have quite a few of my friends from FFXIV who came over to ESO.
Text chat is desperately needed.
Just as in the real world the majority of people are jackasses and I'd rather not be forced to listen to them if I don't have to.
I have thick skin but constantly having to deal with hearing belching, screaming, music, trash talk, childish homophobic/sexist/racist remarks etc. becomes really tiring.
Would some of that be in text? Most definitely. But it's entirely something different when it's being blasted directly into your eardrums.
That's not including the obvious need of it for trading, grouping, PvP etc... Ridiculous decision to exclude it to appeal to non MMO players and whoever made that decision and those who approved it should feel silly.

We consolers simply require this, ZOS. Are you aware that PvP group organizers have devolved their recruitment strategy to repeating, "stand by me for an invite" at objectives? Are you aware that people queue for dungeon groups never intending to communicate with the group AT ALL? The current system is game breaking.
I'm asking all of you to make this poll a clear, overwhelming demand for immediate implementation of text chat. We require this and we WILL NOT get it without concerted action on this forum. Thank you in advance
