Why I just resubbed (and had unsubbed originally)

So I just reinstated my subscription today after having canceled it previously (I was a beta tester and had subbed since launch), and I decided to start a thread so the Devs know what tipped the scales on both decisions. This is not a rant, nor a rave, but a bit of both. The goal is to list out factors on both decisions so ZOS can see how their decisions impact at least one subscriber when taken as a whole, so they can hopefully do more of the "good" and less of the "bad."

Why I Unsubbed
  • The straw that broke the camel's back was when ZOS did not allow me to transfer my characters to console; I had been AFK for several months and missed any news on the subject and did not see any email. When I came back, it was a week or two after deadline and they would not budge. The main reason I wanted to be able to play on console? So I can use a controller. I still think having a cutoff went against what they told subscribers originally, and that the entire situation was poorly handled, but hopefully they learned from the fiasco.
  • The nerf to night's silence and dark stalker stacking (higher mobility is fun, and the nerf wasn't needed)
  • The nerf to bolt escape (I play nightblade mostly, but it's a cool ability and it would be better for other classes to have similar abilities as a counter rather than nerfing a cool ability and decreasing mobility)
  • The fact that the game locks abilities behind classes; it would be fine if any single character can ultimately get access to all classes and / or the same / equivalent abilities, but without that, the game can be pretty unbalanced and frustrating at times; it is also contrary to the spirit of "play how you want" and the original ES games (in prior games, it was possible to max out all stats and abilities on a single character).
  • Total lack of information on Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Spellcrafting.
  • Requiring groups for Craglorn content.
  • Public delvs (better if there was a solo /group option upon entering).
  • Nerf to ultimate generation.
  • Inability to group with other factions.
  • Failure to remove Veteran Ranks after multiple promises to do so.

Why I Resubbed
  • Great game, I like the combat, questing, world, stories, crafting, champion system (although it needs a catch-up mechanism), etc., etc.
  • They announced controller support for PC (which was one of two conditions I said I would renew under).
  • They're still planning to remove Veteran Ranks.
  • New info for Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, or, at least we know they're coming (@ZOS_GinaBruno: Any new news on Spellcrafting? Is it still in the works? What about Jewelcrafting?).
  • They're going to make it possible to group with other factions, at least for dungeons to begin with.
  • Imperial City looks fun.
  • Orsimar is on it's way and will, hopefully, be soloable.
  • Prismatic enchantments (I like hybrids).
  • New content will be released quarterly, so we should have a lot to look forward to.
  • Overall, I think ZOS is doing a good job, and the Devs care about the game and the players; even if they get it wrong sometimes.

So, pat on the back for the Devs for the recent announcements, looking forward to playing with a controller (hopefully soon), and seeing where the game goes.

I'll also be updating my thread on class balance once I've gotten one of each class up to max VR, although I still think opening up additional classes after a given number of champion points is the way to go there.

Those are good points, and I'm happy for you. My situation is a bit reversed right now.
I played since beta for about six months, until my laptop gave in and could barely run the game anymore.
Was very happy to get back into the game on the PS4 and immediatelly subbed. Enjoyed for a while until I realized how frustrating it can be to play without text chat and with the constant spamming of voice chat.
The crown store costumes made me happy, but the flame/ice mounts and (especially as a crafter) upcoming store-only motifs discourage me completely from the game. I subbed before because I was enjoying myself. Now? Not so much...
Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but I just feel like it's going in the wrong direction right now.

It's always good to see players opinions on why they sub, unsub...

I haven't subbed yet since Beta and I am still holding off until...

    A. VR is removed from the game
    B. CP are kept out of BWB NV
    C. Exploiters/hackers dealt with

On the C part after a year some players have learned how to exploit/hack pvp to a
point where it's unplayable to a new lowbie character....

I can't in all honesty support a game like that....

    again my opinion

The ic just has that new content smell.

    I am so stoked.

Nights silence/dark stalker passive for me made playing vampires fun. I'm still annoyed about that nerf.

I played several beta sessions and each time there were improvements. However I decided not to get the game at release because a monthly sub at the time was out of the question, and I wasn't happy with the way it ran on my laptop. But I got it for Xbox because I knew it would perform better and it went to a micro system, plus all the improvements to combat, etc since beta were there.

Other than a few bad elements (players) I am enjoying the game as it is. There are a few things I would like to see, but I will wait and...see.

Concerning Spellcrafting: On one of the ESO Lives, it should be around a month ago, but probably more, one of the guests hinted that spellcrafting is coming back and is being developed. Obviously, aside from mentioning it, he never said when is it going to be released.

As far as I know, this is the only information we got about spellcrafting after Konkle went full silent mode and eventually left ZOS for Riot Games.

E: Welcome back among the subscribers tho :)

Thanks for the welcome back and glad to hear Spellcrafting is still in the works :) That's probably one of my most eagerly-awaited features.
