Try to always have items for sale in store, plus if I know a guild actively tries to snag a guild trader weekly I try to make weekly donations of gold and items.
Don't quickly jump from a guild if it happens to lose a trader for a week; it happens. As long as I know a guild is active and aggressively trying to hold one, I stick with it.
