Achievement "General Executioner"? Is this a joke?

It made me laugh when I heard someone talk he got this achievement. It's kind of sarcastic. "Look, here comes the bloody general executioner..."

Isn't that the achievement for taking down all of the special bosses that can spawn at Dolmens?

Yeah, you'll be foing LOTS of dolmen until you have executed all the darn different generals! Still working on it... also, they are kinda a class tougher then the usual dolmen boss spawns. I found out that if you can solo dolmens, that doesn't always mean you can solo generals quite yet...

Haha... after waiting for ages I decided to solo a Dolmen in my Cadwell's Gold zone... then Hrelvesuu the Daedroth General dropped - I had to kite him around the anchor for about 20 minutes before he died (I may have also died a few times)

EDIT: But just to contribute to the discussion, I actually really like this achievement - whenever I do a Dolmen I enjoy knowing there is a possibility for one of the Generals to drop - I'd just like to see some more uniquely designed and animated bosses to keep it fresh.

Getting this to pop naturally is kinda hit or miss. Farming it can be done in an afternoon. Well, in my case I finished up the last five or six at 2am, since I didn't want to snuff a bunch of dolmens on a vet 12 when there were actual leveling players running around.

The way it works is simple. The first four on the list spawn in your second zone (Stormhaven, Deshaan, or Grahtwood), the second four on the list spawn in your third zone (Rivenspire, Greenshade, or Shadowfen). The next four spawn in A'likr, Malabal Tor, or Eastmarch, and the last four spawn in the final leveling zone (Bangkorai, Reaper's March, or The Rift.)

Any Vet zone dolmen can spawn any one of these guys, as can Cyrodiil's. But if you're banking on those producing the one you need from one of those... good luck.

With a little luck and planning you can finish this one off before you down your fiftieth Dolmen. If you decide to just sit there and farm one Dolmen, you can take four of them out, but any effort after that is wasted. And, I have seen people sitting on Auridon, Glenumbra, and Stonefalls trying to farm these guys up... Unless you're in the silver or gold version, I'm sorry, but that will never work.

EDIT: on timing, as a high vet among leveling dolmens, you can solo them. If you go in a circuit on the zone you need, the first one you took down should be about to reset, by the time you've finished the third. And you can just bounce from dolmen to dolmen. Needless to say, this is pretty disruptive to the leveling crowd, you're going to be one shotting most enemies you encounter. But, it means you can finish this very quickly, if you're willing.

Luckily I have completed the achievement quite a while ago. Does not stop me from foaming at the mouth whenever I hear a dolmen descending upon Tamriel however.

This is either lie of terrible exaggeration.

Even without trying to get general executioner achievment i had half of the boss killed just from random dolmen killing.

Then just checking where to farm which i located where i should get missing bosses (used my own faction area for AD it was first 4 in grathwood, next 4 in greenshade, another 4 in malbar tor and last 4 in reapers march) and farmed them in my own faction zones for lowest lvl possible.

I finished that achievment in lower number of killed dolmens than i needed for dolmen destroyer achievment (250) i think i found my last boss at around 225 dolmens destroyed.

My recollection from when I did farm it was the generals have something like a 20% spawn rate. So if you're doing the non-vet dolmens you're realistically looking at about forty (with eight general fights) dolmens per zone, accounting for duplicates. The number might be as low as 5% (one in twenty), but it's not a terrible spawn rate.

    Though, RNG can screw you.

You must have been incredibly lucky. I have a guildie who did this and it STILL took her over 400 dolmens to get them all. i'm still a long way off from getting it. :(

It's not luck. The mechanics behind it are just obtuse.

But, I'll stress this point again, if you want to get the achievement, do not try farming for it in vet zones. Go back to your leveling zones and tear down the anchors there. It's the difference of rolling the dice for a general to spawn and then rolling against a list of 16 possible generals, or against a list of four. If you're trying to farm it in vet zones it can easily require 600 - 800 dolmens. (Just based on napkin math.) In leveling zones, and with bad RNG it should require less than 160.

EDIT: If you're looking for specific pieces of the Draugr Heritance Set at a decent Vet Rank... you have my sympathy.

If anyone needs 1000 dolmens to get this achievement, you're doing it wrong.

Each of your faction's zones has a higher chance to spawn one of for generals, for 20 total in all five zones. I think they follow the order of the list on the achievement, i.e. the first zone has a higher chance to spawn generals 1-4, the second zone spawns generals 5-8 and so on (the details may be off a bit, I don't really want to look up the guide I followed for this). While it might happen that you get a general that typically spawns in another zone, if you grind the dolmens in each zone until you get the 4 generals that usually spawn there before moving on to the next zone, it will take far fewer than 1000 dolmens to complete the achievement.

I did this after I'd finished Cadwell's Gold, don't remember how many I had when I started to farm generals specifically, but I remember I got the generals achievement even before getting the 250 anchors achievement.

If you're having trouble with any achievement, google it before throwing a temper in the forums. Chances are there will be a guide that will make your life easier.

This achievement is not that hard actually. Do it in the non-vet zones except your first zone. Four bosses spawn in each of those zones. Yes, you could go to Cyrodil but that could take awhile having to deal with the pvp not to mention that all bosses spawn there. Should take you about 220-250 dolmens to get them all.

    A couple minor details...
    daemonios wrote: »

Sixteen, not twenty, and the first zone (Glenumbra, Auridon, and Stonefalls) has no general spawns.

They don't do that. Or at least in ~400 dolmen kills, I've never seen non-vet generals migrate to the wrong zone.

In vet they spawn where they want, when they want. But for non-vet, they're always locked to the appropriate zones. This can result in things like remembering that you fought a boss in the wrong zone, because you were in a silver zone. Like the bosses I've encountered in Glenumbra... except it was silver at the time. If you forget about that detail a couple weeks later, it makes the entire system seem a lot more random than it actually is.

I did it on my main when I felt there is time for it. I just went across Cyrodiil doing the same 3-4 dolmens in a campaign where I could transport quickly. Few times I did some dolmens in pve zones when I got tired of Cyrodiil. I had to do around 150 dolmens. I had around half of the generals killed when I started my hunt. Cyrodiil dolmens drop Coldharbor siege and treasure maps as reward. Well it is done I doubt I bother to do it again.

This is my favorite achievement in the game. It gives you a title and a great dye, and I'd say I got the greatest sense of accomplishment from it of any of my achievements. Probably 60% of the generals I I got for this achievement were ones that I just got naturally while completing dolmens as I played the game. I solo'd all of the dolmens in Cyrodiil (I think I would have been VR8 when I was doing this), and it felt like each time I did I got a general (I know it wasn't as often as that, it just felt like it), and after having an epic battle with the son of Molag Bal that's when I decided to actively go and try for the achievement.

Yes, so be nice in the following way if there are others around:

    1. You only need to kill one thing to get credit for the Dolmen. Not sure if it is in the first wave or the boss wave, so I kill one thing in each wave.
    2. Stand back and watch the battle and only lend a hand if someone is getting down on health, then take out the mob that is troubling them.
    3. If you start out soloing the dungeon, and other players come up, let them have at it. See number one.

If you follow this you can farm for Generals and allow the Leveling players to get what they need from the experience.
