According to the patch notes for update 7, drain essence now heals you for 10% of your health every second. Does it still restore stamina and damage the target?

Yes, though I don't know if it actually stuns critters with CC immunity. My guess is, "no," and it works like a short ranged swallow soul on them, but I haven't checked.

Drain Essence: This ability now restores 10% of your health every second, and stuns your target on activation. It can be used on CC-immune targets, and can be used all the time (it no longer activates the Feed debuff).

The problem with the description is that we have to interpretate it, because is not clear or complete let's say. I would say that it doesn't restore stamina anymore, only the 10% of max health.

Bosses are immune to cc, but that doesn't mean that can not be used to restore your hp even if you don't stun the boss.

I think is more a change to make the skill usefull in survivality in pve and pvp. It stuns, it restores health, but you can't hold up your shield while your chanelling and you are weak to be interrupted.

If they can do this, I'd like to make it so you can fire Eclipse on people even if they are cc Immune. It would be nice if the explosion were separate from the cc-break, or better yet to not treat it as a CC at all. There are other ways to counter it like Purge.

No, in fact, the cast is instant. However, people keep stating that it restores 10% of your MAX health, when it does NOT. It restores 10% of your MISSING health per the in-game tool tip.

Also, players should be aware of the changes (in tool tip anyway) to Accelerating Drain... it now correctly states that the speed increase is only 10%!

The damage and meh healing make me really not want this on my bar, but I don't have much of a choice if I want the passive to kick in. I guess I can stack it with Strife's HoT for some quick healing if I'm low or something.

Awe. Speed decrease ruin's the whole skill. Common @ZOS_GinaBruno. We need the Major Expedition back

I was going to use it as an alternate to Double Take.

Don't get me wrong the skill is a not bad heal if your hurt but still. The speed was a terrible nerf.

Drain Essence/Invigorating Drain is much improved. It can now be used repeatedly against the same target, can be block cast, and while it only heals you for 10% of your missing health, the heal can crit and counts as both healing initiated and healing received meaning that passives and champion points that affect either increase the heal. Not only that, but Invigorating Drain builds ultimate every time you use it. I've also noticed that it can now be used against mobs that used to be immune to it, though Harvesters are not one of them.

@Akavir_Sentinel They ruined Accelerating Drain though. 10% is not worth anything... it would of been a great skill to use as a stamina nightblade vampire if it were 40% for 20 second's.

I guess Invigorating Drain is the way to go.

The problem I find with NB is the lack of 'burst' healing... I had hoped that Drain Essence would restore 10% of Max health, but that's not how it turned out... the update notes made it seem that way but then the update hit and 'surprise', it's only 10% of your MISSING health. *sigh*

I think I'll have to drop DE and go with Strife->Swallow Soul and lose the vampire regen on one bar. Sucks that my Sorc offers such diversity of abilities and demolishes everything, yet my NB requires more 'sustain' abilities such as buffs, healing, evasion, etc. Yet, my NB is a LOT more fun to play... except it is frustrating that I struggle to solo Group bosses, while my Sorc runs right over them with ease. Now this nerf to roll-dodge while at the same time they buffed enemies will make it even more difficult to be a solo NB.
