New Ability of Drodda of Icereach - Direfrost Keep Final Boss (Possibly a Glitch?)

AtomicSpatula
A group of friends and I were running Direfrost Keep on regular mode, but against Veteran Rank 2 enemies, since there is no veteran version of this dungeon. We got through most of the fights just fine, then we came upon Drodda of Icereach and wiped multiple times, on normal mode. Reason for this: she appeared to be HEALING herself. She would spawn the adds, and then one of her abilities or other seemed to heal her drastically. This is not listed anywhere in the forums or on other sites.

One of my friends theorized that the dungeon is glitched and some of the areas of the summit actually heal herself and players constantly while in it, but she seemed to be far more affected by it then other players. I personally theorize that one of her abilities does this when faced at Veteran Rank 1 or above. Clarification from someone, especially Zenimax, would be helpful.

    Hello my friend

I just ran this with a group of friends and came across a similar problem. It seemed the final boss was invincible! I looked around on the Internet and couldn't find anything but this forum. Thought I'd let you know what we figured out.

The final boss uses a channeled beam attack on a player. It saps their life stuns them and restores life to the boss. You can cc break the beam attack though and it actually needs to be broken as soon as possible to stop her gaining health.

    Hope this helps!

Breaking the beam doesn't work for us. She's still maintaining health...

me and my group have given up on direfrost keep undaunted pledge for the same reason, constant self healing no matter what was thrown at drodda.

it must be bugged as the fight mechanics state drodda spawns 2 ads at 50% health, well she was no where near 50% and we were trying to fight of 10 or so frost antronachs lol

the dungeon set at vet rank 2 for the normal undaunted pledge, just on the off chance someone cares to read this thread..

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

Will we get a different undaunted quest tomorrow or is that us stuck until a patch?

    I have abandoned the quest
  • cinnamonbooty
This quest seems to be bugged, half the team can't even see her (not sure if this was part of the intended mechanics) but only 1 player can see here sometimes and she seems to summon a lot more minions than guides say

I went in at level 38 along with a level 44. I was the party leader. We never got Drodda below 50% health. I could not see any health going down on Drodda when I got up close and personal. Trying to block using a shield was futile. I did get a sweet purple restoration staff out of it. It was my first try at a group dungeon and it looks like I picked the wrong one.

Our group is now experiencing this exact same issue with Drodda. She seems to be invincible. Ridiculous because I've done this dungeon many times and never experienced a problem with the final boss.

    This point is critical.

The NANOSECOND she locks you up with the green beam, you MUST CC-break it.

    It cannot be interrupted.

If everyone in your group doesn't break free instantly, you'll never DPS her down.

    ;)
  • Incendiar
    Incendiar
You can definitely beat this, but you need to CC break instantly when she starts to drain you or she'll be up to full health within a few seconds. Tanking is not as important with her as DPS, so our tank switched some skills up which definitely helped.

Also, make sure your healer is running shards and repentance so that everyone has the stamina to break free at all times.

To me the problem with Drodda is that her difficulty is completely out of line with the rest of the dungeon. So many times I have blown easily through the rest dungeon only to be stopped cold by this boss.

It's a dps fight, not a survivability. She restores about 100k hp per second that the beam holds, so most likely 200k with a normal reaction time.

It took me and a friend, both dps, 15 minutes to both through it all. If he was more dots it would have been better. Every vigor or self buff took away a ton of dps he could throw before the next beam. She's not hard, but EVERYONE needs to dps.

Update (today is February 5, 2018). No changes to the self-heals.
After 20 minutes dying, etc., we could not beat this boss, despite breezing thru the rest of the dungeon. Her ability to heal herself back to 100% in a few seconds is horrible frustrating. I won't run it again until this is fixed.

You have to break free of her tether mechanic asap, or else she'll heal herself.

One, this is an impressive thread necro. October 2016.

Two, this post is about a bug. Are you actually experiencing a bug? If the healing is happening in conjunction with her tether (one player is lifted up in the air), then that isn't a bug. As long as that player is held in the tether, she will self-heal at a rapid rate. The tethered player needs to break free immediately. If magicka players are having issues with not having stamina to break free, slot stamina pots or else be prepared to deal with her self-healing a lot.

To be entirely clear, Drodda's self-heals during the tether mechanic are NOT a bug. They are working as intended and you must break free of the beam immediately if you are targeted.

If you are seeing something else, such as the self-healing outside of the tether beam or her not taking damage, both of which are mentioned in this thread, please clarify the actual nature of the bug.

Wouldnt say that, there's plenty that are far easier.

I've actually had a lot of issues with direfrost and pugs. I typically tank, so I'm not pulling massive amounts of damage, and some pug players are so dense that you simply cant get it through their head to break free when they get tethered.

I had one group where we fought her for close to 20 minutes before I got it through the healer's head to stop roll dodging everywhere for no reason so he'd have enough stamina to break free.

You answered the problem for yourself tho, those pugs probably do lower dps than you, and if they don't break free from the beam attack the boss will heal herself, ( IF I remember correctly) which is the only mechanic they should watch out for.

I mean do you see the problem here? a pug asking for a dungeon to be nerfed because they can't learn how to break free,
    How ridicilous is that?

This is the mentality that got my main nerfed to the point of no return. This is also the mentality why white-gold tower got nerfed countless times. Back in the day we took pride for beating HM WGT with no deaths.

These type of players should never be given credit, they should never be taken seriously, catering to casuals is what kills MMOs in the end, and its happening with eso for a while now.

Oh come on. Surely you know better. Fungal Grotto 1 exists (and you can skip most of it)...Also Wayrest 1, Elden Hollow 1, CoA 1...Direfrost at least tries to give the boss something to do while you wail on her.

    That said. Holy necromancy, Batman!..

P.S. Leaving aside the 10%-20%-30% of PUGs who haven't even two brain cells to rub together between the lot of them, the "issue" I typically see with the "healing beam" in Direfrost is simply reaction time. That is, the brain has to process that your character is trapped, then hit the buttons, and by the time all that happens she's back up 200k HP or whatever the number is. Which does not matter with a good group because you're burning all of that back in a few seconds, but with a mediocre group it can make for a longer fight than necessary (but that applies to any dungeon).
