Undercutting in guild stores

OK so I have been in trading guilds since I figured out I can buy and sell tons of stuff and make money which I have been doing since level 10. But what is starting to *** me off is that people are constantly undercutting each other to make their item sell faster. I sell daedra hearts for 3k. I talked to my guild leader and he has posted in the MOTD that undercutting others will get you kicked. So everyone in my guild now sells stuff for about the same price. Daedra hearts for 3k, blue motifs for 3-4k grain solvent for 4-5k and so on. Whats pissing me off is that there are now people selling hearts for 2900... and its not only getting them less money but it hurts the guild because they don't get as much in taxes. Same with rare motifs, a few weeks ago they sold for 90-100k (Primal, daedric etc) and not I can buy them as low as 40k... That is ridiculous. Not only would you make more money if everyone sold for the same price but everything would be more smooth and efficient. In the one guild I am in we have a stall in daggerfall and there was about 3-4 of us selling grain solvent all for 4-5k, last night someone came in and bought all of them from everyone. So not only did we make more by staying around the same price for all of us but now the person buying didnt have to go to 5 different stalls to get a decent deal. I know people want to sell their *** and make money but please just look at the prices and sell for the same price! It will get you so much more money. #rantover

Lack of paragraphs... stopped reading after 2nd line.

Keep going; the prices he's listing are hilariously terrible.

Lol at a guild leader who bans under cutting. That guild will fold in a few weeks as their prices stay high while everyone else's drops. This thread is the dumbest thing I will read today.

I've read dumber, but not by much, and not on these forums.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Lol sounds like a dumb guild. In real life it's not like you go next door to your competitor and ask them to stop under cutting you. That's how economics works bud. Take a class on it some time.
  • Paradisiac
On the other end of it. You could run a scam and have everyone sell same price to make more money. But I'll undercut you every time cause I really don't care about gold in this game. What do I spend it on? Nothing to spend it on. You can get everything in this game so easy. Other than nirnhone stuff. Haven't found any need for that yet.

This thread is ridiculous - sorry OP.

People sell items for whatever gold they can make, people buy items at whatever they want to pay.

You don't really expect GMs to step in and dictate prices do you? I wouldn't do that in any of the guilds I am involved in.

Sorry to say but you are bit out of this world. I was one of these guys buying Daedra Hearts for cheap and sold them in bulks or to players for more. It worked out pretty well and I made myself a small fortune to afford all the Motif books in the game so I now have every style.

However I realised that suddenly hearts were not going for 2-5k each anymore but more like 700-1500. It actually made me happy even though this was one of my main flipping items, because now if I need hearts myself it wont cost me a fortune.

This is the free market at work and you cannot really do anything about it, which is good. How on earth can you even listen to yourself.. An inflated market cannot have stable prices. Supply and demand at its finest.

Good luck with your guild rules, but I will give you my 5 cents and start being more innovative in your way of thinking.

It's really strange to read this post! The author offers another sellers to sell their items at the price that would be profitable for him (that is alone the subject to the Tamriel Antimonopoly Service's investigation). If it's a free market then his price is probably overestimated. And the balanced price is lower. If you send Primal motif for 90 k and others - for 20k that means that the market price is 20k and not 90k. And this price won't surely drop below 20k in general even if some rare players will put it lower.

Why not inflate an item to make your other item seem more "reasonable"? Post 2 of the same item... put one up for a little bit more than what you want to sell it for, put the second one up for a lot more than you want to sell it for. The one that looks cheap by comparison should sell pretty quickly.

Yeah, that 10K Tomato really had me fooled for a minute. Oldest trick in the book.

Oldest because it works. And it's more like... I want to make 1K gold, so I list one item for 1500 and one for 1200... the 1200 one sells for sure. the 1500 MIGHT sell.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

    What's the problem with this?

Prices are bloated on console anyway.

  • Pompeyfluff
yep - prices on PS4 are insane for a few items.

Regularly see people trying to get 2.5k for a single Dwarven oil, and 4k for Blue Motifs.

was a pleasure to pick up 5 dwarven oils last night at 500g each.

I Agree undercutting to much like 100k to 75k is little to much for my taste and it pisses me off.
but 100k to 95 is fairly okey. its a stock and demand issue.

And its a free market. But ppl that undercutting to much ruins for them self and everyone else.

    /cheers

Of course I'm going to list my item at a lower price than yours. I want people to buy -my- item, not yours. And, on the PS4 at least, people try to sell things at ridiculous prices. In that scenario, I might undercut you by a thousand percent. What's that? A level 30 green robe for 2k? Good luck selling that, bro. Mine will sell overnight for 250g.

I will undercut you every. single. time. As you should do to me. And any guild leader who tries to "ban undercutting" is as clueless as you are.

A green robe? Really bro I would sell that for 150g, as for the guild it has not enforced the rule and daedra hearts are down to about 1800 per heart now and I sell them at 1600. Screw the whole set prices thing. I got over a stack and I want rid of them all.

What you see now is just the PC Vet transfers cornering the market with their borrowed and copied over goods.

AH yes. ZOS completely screwing over the economy for 20 bucks. Gotta love em.

I don't believe it was intentional. Just usual short sightedness. They wanted to offer something at least to those having to wait for their desired platform, they just didn't think through the negative aspects and prepare for those very well.

Like the CP systems effect on PVP and skills.

Wait wait wait.... WHAT????? You mean those transfers were FULL transfer? as in characters/items/everything single piece of data for that account? I was told by someone else it was just transactions that were carried over, like limited edition mounts, loyalty programs items etc... not literally everything...

Wow.. I had just assumed everyone that was already Vet 14 just had so much time on their hands... and not to mention the affect on pvp it has. Sure, battle leveled and all that, but all those skills to select and the unlocked morphs change the result

Heck, even that CP gap from those who can do it all the time to those who can't, and those who haven't even unlocked it yet (I'm taking my time reading the quests and the stories etc, at least 2 hours a day is very very slow)
