Play with other Alliance members announced!

Hello everyone.

Yesterday on QuakeCon 2015 during the live panel from Bethesda (also transmitted live on Twitch) they announced that they are working on allowing characters to play with members of different alliances. They stated that this will start being implemented in dungeons but that it will grow to other content as well. This sounds like a pretty interesting change and beneficial to the evolution of the game but I'm curious as how it will be implemented.

Does this mean that a character of one alliance will be allowed to PvE with members of other alliances in their native areas and do such content? How will this work with the current system where players are allowed to go through the campaigns of the other two alliances in veteran ranks?

Looking forward to your input.

i dont think it will grow to other content. i think it will stay dungeon only.

In addition to dungeons, two logical places to allow cross alliance co-op play are Coldharbour and Craglorn. They start adding this kind of change, that might be enough to get me to re sub again.

Actually it's stated in a very straightforward way that it will start as dungeons and they want it to expand into PvE.
It would be really nice to have some input from the developers concerning this or at least confirming the extent of those intended changes.

All guilds are already cross-faction and Imperial Edition let players play any race in any alliance. Sure its coming. This was mainly done because of faster queue times and they werent sure if one alliance is so underdog, they need to take heavy action against it. Thats one of my concern, as Faction Pride is definitely fading fast, I think we really need that each alliance has own types of Castles and Siege weapons at least. Actually this opens pretty fun new opportunities.

Think about it, theres going to be turncoats and loyalist in each alliance, they can make fun Faction Pride system than ever, and not to mention if things go very bad, one alliance start to die, they can easily fix it.

Youre new here. They say a lot of things in this manner only to do half of what they said. This upcoming late fall will be a year since they spoke of removing VR ranks....Yesterday at Quakecon they said they still intend on removing them but so far there has been absolutely no gameplan laid out.

This explains why Veteran Ranks are on the chopping block.

Seems to me ZoS is going code digging to fix the limitations on quest sharing, which will be very nice. Hmm... now I wonder if shops will also be level specific, so we don't have to run to a different area to by glyphs matching our armor/weapon level.

@Sausage Imperial edition allows you to make an Imperial to be placed in any faction. You have to buy the adventurer's pack to get the any race in any alliance, or have pre-ordered the PC version when it first launched.

Well this is good news if they follow through with it. I kinda feel faction should never have mattered with pve. With pvp certainly but not pve. Your the Vestige, your primary goal is to stop Molag Bal and end the plane meld. Going to each faction, solving their problems, convincing their leaders it's in their best interest to help you and uniting the nations of Tamriel should have been the normal course of things rather than doing the whole Cadwell's silver/gold business.

Would make sense to tie in Cadwell's zones to the main story, pushing Molag Bal to the end of silver and gold. Enable cross-alliance play ... you know, for the sake of beating Molag Bal and all that.

    Won't see it though.

No, I meant having the vet versions shared with the other faction that has that zone as a vet zone. So, Dominion shares Pact territory with Cov, Cov shares Dom territory with Pact, that setup. Between the removal of vet ranks, and the desire to open zones up to cross faction... this one is just this side of possible.

    Yeah, know what you meant.

Modified it, to make sense of the currently inane "endgame" that is then followed by Sir Pot-on-Head's quests.

Console preorders got it as well, not that that is all that important a distinction.

I hope you can set the group finder so that you only get grouped with people from your alliance. I know, it's a bit old fashioned, but I'm proud of my alliance and don't want to fight together with people that might have ganked me 5 minutes ago.

I could kinda understand cross-faction dungeons assuming it would be possible to stab Pact or Dominion dogs in their backs in dark corners of said dungeons, but seriously, I, for one, abhor this new traitorous feature!

Ah, I see, so you must have refused to do any of the Coldharbour content because it would have made you a traitor to your alliance, working with fellow guild members from other alliances.

No, it doesn't, but the alternative was to not release any new content until they worked out the complementary system for when they're removed. So I think releasing the content was the lesser of two evils.

I think everyone is very aware of Zenimax's track record regarding actions and words, so yes, we will see. That being said, it is the first time to knowledge we've been given any idea of a rough timeline regarding the Veteran Rank removal., so that is progress, perhaps. Time will tell.
