Will Legerdemain be scrapped when Thieves Guild is released?

Just curious, if not, what would the Guild bring to the table skill wise you reckon? Heists anyone? :D

    I see three possible situations:
    1. Legerdemain will become the Thieves Guild skill line
    2. Thieves Guild skill line will have a completely different set of actives and passives
    3. Thieves Guild line will only have active skills, and Legerdemain will handle the passives
#2 I think is the most likely, since it will (presumably) only be available to people who buy the DLC, but I'm not sure right now what other passives could be included or how you would level it up. Dark Brotherhood similarly will likely have its own skill line, so Legerdemain would remain as the "stealth" line, while the two guild lines go into more specific abilities.

I think that Thieves Guild will have their own skills and passives.

I think the thieves guild will have it own skill line, they may rework a few things but will have to wait and see next year I suppose.. :)

Not sure what skills will be introduced. As someone that likes to use stealth, I'm hoping many of the quests require stealth to complete. It will be interesting to see if the hack 'em & slash 'em quest racers will be able to hold back enough to complete those types of quests.

I'm just waiting for the outrage if they put skill lines that are overpowered behind the paywall of a DLC.

Of course Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild will come as paid DLC.

They should, of course, have come in the base game at release as they are completely entwined with ES lore and games.

But they will likely come parcelled with a new area, hence DLC. I am pumped for the Dark Brotherhood. My new Bosmer Night blade will be a very happy recruit for them.

If it's DLC then it has to be a new skilline, making one we've had for free before would be absurd, so that's confirmed by assumption.

    ?

    really?

    you missed my point completely

To make it clearer lets say that the Dark Brotherhood DLC includes a skill line and that skill line included such skills as a buffed meteor, a buffed vigour, a buffed dark cloak and a buffed jesus beam. The only way to access the skill line was to buy the DLC.

Would there be outrage at those skills being behind the paywall of a DLC or would everyone be cool with it?

I know they're going to be DLC I was jokingly contemplating what the reaction would be if they added skill lines and made said skill lines really good and only available if you had the DLC.

I'm in no way saying this will happen just speculating on a future I have minuscule information about, but this is the internet and this is a forum and this is what we do, we make things up because we're bored.

And why would they do that exactly ? Did ANYONE at ZOS ever mention that the DLC skill lines will be better than the original game's skill lines ?

Most of the skill line passives only apply to the skill line they are with.

You can only still have 5 active skills and 1 ultimate per weapon set.

To me, they're just going to give more options, not necessarily better.

I couldn't care less if TG has new skills or uses Legerdemain. I only steal for motifs. Everything else I leave behind. I don't want to carry loot to wait for the next major town to sell it, though I may change my mind later just to add some new flair to the game.

Personally, I'm looking more for Dark Brotherhood. I am an assassin, after all. And in this game, people want me to kill someone else all the time.

Might as well put my true skills to use for a faction that understands why I'm in area. >:]

Did you read my last two paragraphs?, I'm taking a wild guess at no or you wouldn't have posted so I've kept the bits in you didn't read in this reply.

    And to answer your questions,:-
They'd do it to sell more copies.
They haven't said anything about new skill lines so we have no idea.

Back to speculation if they did add new skill lines behind a paywall.
They have a track record of imbalanced/broken skills so an OP skill behind a pay wall is very possible. And OP skills behind paywalls is pay to win.

I'd disagree. P2w usually implies microtransactions. If it's available through subscription, it's fine. In any case, forum outrage would get any OP skill exclusive to TG/DB nerfed pretty dang quick.

I can see an issue with what was, from my understanding, an example of "play to win" where Everquest 2 added a shop that sold what amounted to the best items in game for real cash many years ago. I can see an issue with this. Now I frequently hear people upset when a game requires any investment of cash at any time outside the original purchase for new content and character progression.

I simply can not comprehend this, MMOs constantly shift in balance so what is great or op one week can be utter garbage next week so simple skill lines and abilities I do not see as straight "pay to win" because while an ability might be a bit much it might also be utterly useless in real challenging content (for example would anyone claim the kickback passive in ledgermain to be "op").

Recently I keep reading about this "cash wall", was it ever stated before that this game would never progress or add any form of character progression outside the original game (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely asking as I started with the console release). In any other MMO I haven't heard uproar from the player base when an expansion would come out raising the level cap and thus creating a gap between player's power levels based on who owns the expansion and who doesn't. Why would a DLC be different, it is essentially a Mini Expansion.

Does much of this outrage come from players who are new to MMORPGS (once more, I'm sincerely asking)? To me it just seems quite typical and without a monthly subscription required to pay I am happy to buy Quarterly DLCs, heck WoW went over a year WITH a subscription without releasing new content for their player base prior to their latest expansion, so picking up a $25 DLC to keep the content and progression going doesn't seem to bad to me.

Legerdemain is the criminal skill line. And theives guild isnt all about stealth. Maybe the theives guild skill line wil be a passive that lets you haggles/negotiate prices with vendors. A way to swindle/scam NPCs. It could even have a daily where you have to collect gold from somone who has missed their deadline? Hehe

As for Dark Brotherhood? Maybe a passive that lets you gain bonus gold from npc kills. Or an ability that lets you put as guard to sleep for a short duration. It could obviously have a daily that has you take out an npc target then escape the guards!
