The ESO panel at Quakecon

ZOS and this presentation are a complete joke. The only thing it showed was how little progress they have made since last Quakecon, which featured IC and Orsinium (yes, the exact same content) IN ADDITION to spellcrafting, the justice system, thieves guild, Murkmire, Clockwork City, the challenge of vet ranks, and more. The ONLY thing they have added since one full year ago is a piece (yes, a piece) of the justice system and the champion system which arguably broke the game. during THIS YEAR'S Quakecon, they presented IC, which after a full year was still not released, and "beyond", which took all of 5 minutes to present because there was so little to say about what's to come. In fact, this Quakecon was just a repeat of last Quakecon minus most of the announcements and details they gave us last year. Still no word on spellcrafting whatsoever (except a confirmation that the main developer working on it left the company), no word on the rest of the justice system which was supposed to be released, ANOTHER picture of a hand that was supposed to re-excite me about the dark brotherhood and thieves guild which won't be released until at leas next year, no mention of Murkmire or any additional PVE areas besides Orsinium. Speaking of Orsinium, last year they gave us an in-depth look at the zone, this year it basically got an honorable mention.

There is an upcoming Q&A session. We will learn more details of Quality of Life updates and more through that most likely. That is a planned stream next week on their Twitch.

@ZOS_GinaBruno already mentioned in the QuakeCon 2015 thread that people shouldn't go into it expecting much else to be talked about except the Imperial City as it is their main focus right now. The problem with last QuakeCon (as many news sites suggested) is that ZeniMax Online Studios had revealed a little 'too' much. So much so that they just couldn't possibly manage it all within a year...or even two years for that matter!

Instead, the launch of ESOTU marked a new leaf for the game, and even the company's structure was reevaluated for its launch. The console versions of the game took unexpectedly long for them due to development issues, and they decided to rework the entirety of the game, including its marketing, so we're not being given empty promises.

What they were covering today was very clear: it was for the next year of content.

    Imperial City DLC - August 31st, 2015
    Orsinium DLC - Coming 2015 Quarter 4
Thieves Guild DLC - Coming 2016 Quarter 1/2 (TBA)
Dark Brotherhood DLC - Coming 2016 Quarter 1/2 (TBA)

With those updates, there will be the various quality of life changes that they have announced and continue to announce as more content updates of this extent roll out.

We know that Poisons (Alchemy), Spellcrafting, Jeweley Crafting (Blacksmithing?), the next phases of FaceFX and the Justice System, and more, are on their way. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely excited for what the future holds if they can manage to start rolling these major content updates on a quarterly basis. That, to me, was their best announcement tonight that stood out the most.

    It's all about marketing.

This is why I don't like it when I see a company fire their guns off all at once (Nintendo E3 2014 compared to 2015 as well, for instance). It never works. It's just a marketing strategy that relies too much on meeting deadlines and not preserving quality over quantity. ZeniMax chose the better route and is doing things actively to improve the quality of the game. Would you rather have about hundreds of hours of broken content and game breaking bugs staring you in the face with five new zones that were slopped together, or would you rather two really fun zones that push for quality and to have the smoothest transition into the game as possible?

I don't know about you, but I'd rather the latter. lol

    I predict :

Imperial City DLC - Between August 31st and October 31st, 2015
    Orsinium DLC - Coming 2016 Quarter 2
    Thieves Guild DLC - Coming 2016 Quarter 4 or 2017 Q1
    Dark Brotherhood DLC - Coming 2017 Q2-4

    I don't get it.

My guild chats were pretty excited during the presentation, and the people I know firsthand are itching to try out the new content.

...but twitter and the forums here, well, it's through a mirror darkly.

Whatever. *I'm* excited, and still enjoying myself. So are the people I game with.

Looking forward to all the new stuff.

They keep jerking us around and provide somewhat conflicting information every once in awhile. It's the same tactics used by politicians when they can't feasibly get something done, but they don't want to *** off their base.

I highly doubt we'll see a barbershop/recustomization this year. Best case scenario I bet would be summer 2016, if we're lucky.

I hope not. I'd rather it came out while I still care a little bit about the game, not after I've moved onto others.

Yes but when you CANT do the content you paid for IE. Imp City because it is campaign locked and the zerg of the OP pvpers come in force.. I guess I'll just wait for everyone to 'not have fun' before they actually play the game and see.

It was clear they got burned by last year's presentation, where they showed a lot people started to expect and they couldn't keep delivering as promised due to the change to B2P and the console development.
    That part is understandable.

What I don't understand is why they showed so little of what they know is to come. Last year they showed a TON of concept art and ingame looks of new armor sets, this year we only got the concept art of the new PvP armors - when we already have seen them ingame in the announcement trailer. They also didn't show or say anything about Glass armor - why not tell us where to find the motifs, for example? Why don't I feel any more enlightened about the upcoming set items? What do they actually DO, what do they look like? I mean, I'm still looking at things from last year's presentation, but I don't think I have any reason to rewatch this year's.

Maybe it's because everything will be on PTS next week, but that's not a good reason imo. There is a lot of info in that patch notes which they know will be in and they could have talked about. What about all the combat changes? ANYTHING?

I guess they left the discovering part up to players. When IC hits the PTS next week, players will be posting screenshots and stats of the new sets and items on the forum.

I just figure they'll sort it out somehow if people are a-holes in the short term.

I am the most optimistic I've been for this game in a long time. I greatly appreciated the LFG update. It seems as though its the first they've mentioned it since it broke about a year ago.

I'm also optimistic about the frequency of the updates because its been so long since Craglorn, I know they've been working and shelving a lot of new content. I have a feeling now that their lifeblood and income are going to come from named DLCs that they can't mess around and delay them like they did when they were gambling on the new life for the game from consoles. Guessing that we will get Orsinium before the end of the year and it will also be 25 bucks.

We'll see but its better than we were 24 hours ago.

The issue that I take is that for most longtime players there is very little in the way of new content, if PvP doesn't happen to be your thing you will be waiting until sometime in November before you have any serious content to dig into. At the end of the day I can understand the content shelving but it seems like they should have released IC and Orsinium together. Start the new monetezation cycle off right with a huge bit of content for all playstyles and THEN start releasing every 12 weeks.

I am hopeful for the cross alliance grouping, the controller bit is kind of cool but the rest was a bit meh tbh.
"It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom."

Biggest and best news that I did not expect to see in my opinion was the cross faction grouping for dungeons!!! /cheer! Thank yoy ZOS, so tired of spamming zone for an Undaunted group... Even better, they intend to expand this in future to perhaps more than just dungeons! Been hoping they would do this for so long.

I do agree with op though to some degree. The presentation was a bit sheepish on new information moving forward, giving it a litt bit of a stagnant feel since they have been teasing it for so long. Never the less, I am still hopefull for Orcinium. Imp city does not overly excit me ( except pve content) as I only really enjoy battleground style pvp like way back when I used to play wow.
