Level 20 Harborage Quest "Castle of the Worm" Unbeatable Enemy

SupertoastGT
I am up to this god mode enemy called "Hunter of the Cliffs". He can't be killed and does tons of damage. Is there some rediculous magic tric to beating it? If not, The main story is broken. It's solo of course so I can't get the level 14 veteran I'd need to dethrone this god, and solo quests scale to level so there's no getting around it.

Why the developers thought putting an indestructible immortal god in a solo quest is beyond me. Anyone know some miracle trick an assassin nighblade can do to kill this god? Going to miss out on countless skill points if there is no way. Thanks in advance. :D

Update: I found a PURPLE bow in a trunk. With that incredible find, I killed the ***. That was the miracle it took. Thank god. This thread can be deleted. Freaking miracle! *Happy dance*

That's a tough fight. I managed it on my NB but you need to do an awful lot of roll-dodging, kiting and self-healing to succeed.

Maybe leave it a few levels or if not make sure you have silver bolts from the Fighter's Guild slotted. Any of the skills from that line are useful against Daedra.

    Good luck...

I take it you are talking about the large gargoyle.

Make sure your equipment is fully repaired, you have eaten food to boost your health and magicka or stamina. Pack enough potions for health or if you are lucky a duo or tripot to help.

Basically ranged attacks are your friend. Run in and hit quick run away if you do not have ranged attacks. Stay out of the red. When you see the white indicators, he is about to do a heavy attack. Block it if you are near him. Use the terrain to your advantage and when your Harborage companion taunts that sucker so the attention is on them and not use, go in for a heavy attack then turn and run to get some distance.

By the way, there should be enough chilled flesh in there that you don't actually have to defeat that guy. I went through my last alt and didn't even have to defeat him to get the flesh near him as I had gained enough from other sources in there.

This is where you really need to learn how to move and dodge enemy attacks.

Far too many characters to list any more.

Main quests and mages/fighters guild quests scales. If its hard, you could wait some levels, then try again after you have unlocked better skills. Also try to eat food, bread are easy to find and gives alot of healt.

10:03 - "OMG this enemy is UNBEATABLE"
10:11 - "Never mind, killed him."

Patience. Hundreds of thousands of players have played the game successfully through early levels before you. Except for a few bugged quests here and there, nothing in the game is unbeatable. Some fights are still a mild challenge, but I would advise you to enjoy them as a learning experience, not ask them to be made even easier.

I found that fight a lot of fun when I first encountered him. Took me a while to realize you absolutely HAVE to block his heavy attacks, and you HAVE to get out of the red AoE attacks, they do too much damage otherwise... ah, the troubles one had early in the game...

Generally though, EVERY fight is doable. Easily doable if you are already skilled in the combat system, usually, though some require a bit of forethought in your skill selection... (I remember the first time I went up against mannimarco in sancre tor, without any AoE skills or gap closers... darn, did I get my bum kicked, over and over again... either the ghosts, or his lifedrain beam, one of them always did me in... but live and learn, by now I finished that fight eight times... ;) )

I do not recommend soloing vet dungeons. :p

But, yeah. You're right. There are some really hard skill checks, depending on your build. That Harvester in Halls of Torment comes to mind. But very little that is unwinable.

At first on reading this I couldn't even remember that boss, despite having now done that quest 10 times on different characters.

After going through the whole thread, though, now I remember this fight, and yeah it is one of the harder forced-solo fights. I remember when I first did this quest over a year ago, it took me a few deaths before I managed to beat that blasted gargoyle. Of course, now I find it to be a pretty easy fight, but that's partly because I'm just better at the game now than I used to be, and partly because I've done it multiple times so I know what tactics to use. I guess they might have nerfed it since launch as well, but I don't ever remember hearing that they did, so I doubt that - it's probably still at the same difficulty level as it was at launch (well, aside from the fact that it will now scale up to your level if you are higher than level 20).

I always fight this boss when I do this quest, but I'm pretty sure you can actually just skip him. He's in an area off to the side of the route you need to take to get to your goal, and the only reason to even encounter him is while you're exploring and looking for atronach parts. I believe that there are actually more atronach parts available than what you need, though, so I think you can gather the parts you need without ever fighting the Haunter of the Cliffs.

I can honestly say I've never had an issue with any of the solo main quests difficulty. Make sure your gear is up to level.

It's not that hard. You will need to adjust how you fight certain bosses but this guy is pretty straight forward.
I've killed him as a night blade mostly ranged, Templar ranged and melee in light armor, sort in light armor n pets

    Also as others mention...it's optional

Pay attn to his attacks. Dodge most if not all melee. Don't get hit in red stuff.
Most importantly, heal yourself. If you cannot heal, go do some questing with a healing staff and grab a spell or three and return later.

That boss is not part of the quest, you can totally bypass him if you want.

Probably the best boss encounter the main quest has to offer now.

It's not that tough but it's a good build and gear check... it's also an optional fight.

Without that bow I wouldn't have stood a chance. Even though Iv'e put all points toward stamina I never had enough to dodge roll, block AND fight back. I did have potions, but the cooldown kept getting me killed. Tried poofing to buy time for health regen but he'd reset. I was also at that transition point to where I needed Oak/hide instead of maple/rawhide to make better gear but hadn't found the second dominion zone at the time to get it and was broke. That epic bow saved me. Though yeah, after that fight I found a route with more fleshies right after. XD

Anyway thanks for the constructive responses. :D
