Why has there been no console patch in over a month?

A whole month and their support is disgusting to the consoles. Not to mention their ignorance and unwillingness to interact with the community about top issues.

Chill. They said it's definitely maybe coming by the end of the month.....or by the next expansion but for sure by the next Elder Scrolls game.

Well firstly i hear certification is free on PS3 and PS4 and is faster than Microsoft (so why do we get patches after xb1?) Just because XB1 is holding everyone in gaming back.

Not really. Plenty of games patch only once a month, or even less frequently.

The patch coming in August has been spoken about by ZOS employees on these forums in the context of fixing the Silvenar quest-line Molobal Tor.

    So it is coming relax

I've played a many PC mmo's that patch 3 times a day on launch, if an issue is reported they fix it and patch it. Rift is an example i remember them patching 4 times a day on launch fixing reported issues.

That;s something they should fix right now and patch right now, not in 2 months. If something like this happened in any other PC mmo they would be like "we dun fked up" and fix it very very fast. You can't but help question the competence of ZoS's dev team when they can't even reply to a 70 page thread about the most wanted feature I've ever seen in an MMO (text chat)

That's why i think indie mmo's are awesome because the dev teams actually care about the game and what people think.

The game has issues, but it isn't at a point where it needs to be constantly patched in order to remain stable. They're bugs with a low enough priority that they simply fix in the warranty period of the release. Meaning, they'll get to them when they get to them as long as they do so within a certain time frame. There's no rush on their part to fix a broken quest here or there.

No it isn't. That quest is not preventing anyone from playing 99% of the game. It's not about caring or not caring. It's about the priority of the items in the backlog and the time it would take to focus on those items. You're clearly not in software because you have no clue what you're talking about.

I'm not in software but i've played mmos for 15 years and know that ZOS are not doing NOWHERE near as much as they should be for a tripple A developer and that's an obvious fact. They would rather add a sparkle pony and dress instead of add text chat which the game will die without in any endgame content.

take a look at H1Z1, there immense amount of bug fixes, content additions and changes they do to the game in a short period of time, so don't say it's not possible, mortal online even proved it is.

I've been driving cars for years but it doesn't mean I get to tell General Motors how to make them.

It's a very simple concept that revolves around resource management. All online games follow an iterative software lifecycle model. That means they push out updates or patches in iterations. What determines the items in each update or patch is based on the priority of items in a backlog of items. Guess what ZOS's highest priority item is right now? Imperial City. New content. Whatever little time is left over in the iteration not spend on IC goes towards bug fixes and implementations, but only if the effort to implement these changes or fix these bugs fits within the iteration. If it doesn't, then it simply doesn't get done, or the iteration size is increased.

You're saying you want new features, bug fixes, and new content all while having smaller iteration sizes. It's not just unreasonable, it's childish. Children think this way. You're no better than a child screaming "GIMME GIMME GIMME".

I want something that's in the pc version and disabled on the console version. It's called a chat box and it's the basic feature of any MMORPG in the world. 70 pages and one of the largest threads ever n the forums and not a reply from the devs, you think they care?

According to reports the devs said the console version does not have a chat box because "it would be annoying putting the controller down to use a keyboard" /facepalm.

You know what is annoying? me qued for 3.5 hours this morning for the daily dungeon and not getting a group as a healer.

My understanding was that console patches had to go through a sort of quality control process from the console manufacturer. So for example, if you wanted to patch it for XBox One, you have to develop the patch, test it internally, submit it to Microsoft, allow them to test it (to make sure that nothing breaks the game or the console I guess), and once it is approved they can prepare the patch for deployment, probably do a deployment test, then release the patch officially.

Compare that with PC, which only needs to be tested internally and the devteam can hotfix any serious goof-ups right away.

I presume this would only impact the client software -- server software for consoles may not have to go through such rigorous testing. Not sure.

I say "my understanding" because I don't own a console, but rather can only impart information I've picked up here and there. It seems to make sense to me, but I could easily be missing some details here.

Either way, I would attribute it to red tape, not a lack of love for the console. Just be patient.
