Leveling in any mmo is a solo experience. Over the years people complained about needing to group to do pretty much anything in an mmo and how inconvenient it was. As a result games made it easier and easier to do leveling content and nowadays you have to wait till end game for any real group experience. Likely this trend is why gamers feel rushing to end game is the best way to play mmos as that is when a game becomes worth playing to many.
FFXIV would like a word with you. You cannot level realistically and certainly can't unlock core features like mounts, etc. without having to 'group up' very regularly .. and you'll never see the expansion areas without doing LOTS of group content that's very non-trivial to complete.

It's all single player content until you hit end game pvp. There are dungeons sometimes you get a good group and other times you get utter trash.

As I play through the game, I can not helping feeling that I'm playing a single player game, but with multiplayer issues. Truly, the excitement of multiplayer will come in the dungeons and PVP, but for the world itself, there seems to be little for players to really do together. Even when doing quests in a group, you have to do everything yourself to complete it. Does anybody else share this feeling or am I alone on this?

it has already gotten alot better.. atleast u can mostly quest together now.. big tip would be to look for some guilds with peopel you become friends with.. and build ur friends list.. basically collect a collection of people u like to play with and ull never have to play alone again xD

It's really up to you to be proactive if you want the multiplayer experience. You can join 5 guilds, full of people to group with. There's threads for meeting up with people on the forums. Make friends with people you get grouped with through the Group Finder. Most of the game can be done solo (which some players viciously defend, because they want Skyrim 2), but there are many ways to find groups.

That said, the group finder needs work. There also need to be more people willing to play support roles (tank/healer) because the lack of people queuing for these roles is why the waits are so long. That's why I play a tank and I'm leveling up a second healer spec.

I am loving the game, yes the game has some small issues that I have confidence will eventually get sorted out, the only issue I have is with the attitudes of some of the people playing it! but for me I just ignore and go about my own business.

2 days ago I see a body on the ground, I go over and use one of my soul gems to revive the guy, which he accepts, then he dives back into the world boss, so I jump in and give him a hand only for him to start having a go at me for stealing his kill and messing up his XP??????

My point is this, its not a single player game and your never going to please everyone all of the time.

I agree with OP this game lacks good Social Features which is why it feels like a SOLO game.
