Once you get passed the initial i gotta buy a horse, bags, bank space ... pretty much

Tons of stuff not being boe doesnt help. You can buy something, use it, resell it. And even if its bound you can give it to your crafter, dismantle, sell temper.

For me, I hate crafting so good is a necessity. In the 1-50 experience, gold is fairly useless however.

Not really, if I wanted to craft the best gear possible, id need gold upgrade mats and gold enchant mats, which unless I get massively fortunate with drops in the next 9 levels until I reach VR14, these mats would only come at a cost of gold. Also if I want Deadra/ancient elf motifs ect.

After I have all the motifs and gear I need, perhaps it is worthless. But I can't imagine being in that position for some time.

Gold is very important, it gives the opportunities to keep buying your pots buy and sell to make more and save towards new dlc patches so you can buy the new sets and materials you desire. A good example is when imperial launches, the materials need to craft vr16 wont be cheap at all nor easy to acquire so you better have money saved up.

Console prices are insane right now. I don't know where people are getting the money. If Blue Motifs sold for 2000 to 3000 gold on the PC, I would only know one racial style per character.

Once you get your character up to around 80 to 110 bag spaces, and your horse up around 40 and your bank up near 170 to 200, storage stops being an issue, especially if you don't craft. If you craft, then even these are not enough bag spaces, then your looking at 110/60/240 to be comfortable with that. By comfortable you can put most of your crafting mats in the bank and still have room to dump a character's inventory so you can go clean out a dungeon.

Personally gold is everything to me at the moment, well that and armour traits. But I'm levelling my crafting too, materials and motifs I've found pretty easy to come across and made a tidy amount in guild stores on excess. My next bank upgrade is 55k though and I've just hit 40k again..

When you want to do stuff like trials and vdsa and small scale pvp you will need about 20 to 30 thousand gold per evening just for the triple stat potions

So i would save the gold for that. Armor and stuff is cheap compared to potions

Currently gold helps you purchase

- base potions
- repair kits
- lock picks
- training train armor (mage guild)
- motif stones
- repairs
- bounties
- soul gems
- basic runes
- basic food/drink
- certain siege weapons
- random gear merchants
- bank space
- bag space, horse upgrades
- champion point reset
- attribute reset
- skill point reset
- bid on an auction house rights.

That's about it for now. I put out a post on how merchants could be improved with instanced randomed loot but few folks supported it.

Nope, gold does have value if you're not hoarding it. Once you buy all your bank upgrades and each character's bag upgrades there are still quite a few uses for it e.g. to buy Tempers to upgrade your gear or to buy legendary glyphs to put on said gear. Likewise, gear itself can cost anything between 5k and 100k+ and motifs are not cheap. Potions are a constant gold sink and if you die a lot soul gems can become quite expensive. Lastly, researching nirn items from scratch can become quite expensive.

Nope. And having had (and currently possessing) more gold and valuables than most people who have ever played the game... I've still yet to think, "Man, I can't find anything good to use this towards soon." For the first 4 months or so of the PC launch in 2014 I can confidently say I was in the top 10 if not better, of wealthiest players in the entire US megaserver. I'm lower than that now, but... I'd be very shocked to learn that even after a 6 month or so break from health problems over the winter, I'm not still (after making my way back up) in the top 50. This isn't to boast or brag, but to provide an honest perspective and back up where I'm coming from in saying "Nope"

I think I have 155,000 gold in the bank right now, so my answer would be "Yes, if the goal is to see how much the bank can store before the game breaks".
